The H
Hey Vinny, can you try to write in 'plain, old english', please (try to cut the 1337-ness a little bit, if possible). Spitoon, check TPG. I've posted some screenies and info about my experience playing with your mod, Trues' BTP cam mod and a set of customized sliders, at All-Star difficulty. I'm having lots of fun because the game is quite challenging, but if you do it right, you can win games.
The H
What does the Pitcher MG Slider do? That's for the Pitching Minigame... to make it more (-) or less (+) difficult.
vinnycast27
Hey Vinny, can you try to write in 'plain, old english', please Wink (try to cut the 1337-ness a little bit, if possible).lol ok mate i;ll try just for you. H have you changed many slider settings to make pitching easier or are you just playing as it is? if soo do you get many k's? and if you have altered the sliders can you say which one's because i'd like to experiment with some already tested pitching sliders that are challenging but not impossible to achive consistant K's. The H
I haven't made my pitching any easier... to contrary, pitching is more challenging, but if done right, you can have a realistic K/BB ratio.
Cris987
I have the best rotation in the league (draft), and I'm getting very frustrated in All-Star. Would hitting be too easy if I switch to Pro?
iljasTHEillest
u must b a god then m8, coz to constantly hit that tiny tiny fragment of green to get a perfect pitch and therefore a strike as frequently as u do, to get 10k's!! is amazin and i seriously think u've completed the game. I rarely hit the green! The main thing is knowing how to set the batter up.
spitoon
I have the best rotation in the league (draft), and I'm getting very frustrated in All-Star. Would hitting be too easy if I switch to Pro? I've had some pretty competitive games on pro...I was about 6-15 on All-Star and now I'm 4-2 in my last 6 on pro, with one of those wins coming via a bottom of the ninth rally....all games have been close, with margins of victory between 1 and 3...I'm having alot more fun... On All-Star I was getting blown out by 5+ runs everygame...If I won it was 2-1 or something like that :(
vinnycast27
i found pro a bit easy, and found the cpu throwing less balls despite installin the datafile and applied pareds sliders. on the other hand all stars too hard lol I rarely hit the green! The main thing is knowing how to set the batter up. SEE.......i cant believe this statement because i too know how to set him up, hence y i kick *** on pro. But on all star if you miss that green and get a late or an early then your sure to produce a ball. unless the batter swings but from my 20+ games of experimenting they hardly do because the pitches deviate soo much from the initial intended spot, that the batter just takes a ball. i totally agree about workin the pitcher, but its pointless atm because unless you put the ball where it needs to be you cant work him at all. and to put the ball as close to its intended spot you need to hit the perfects, and this is what i cant do on a regualr basis lol does any1 else share my point of view or am i that bad a pitcher when theres no green zone to work with? loving the feedback guys, keep it coming.... JaFFiTh
I just installed that datafile, eventhough with default sliders, played as the cubs against Cardinals on all star level (just found out cubs doesn't have numbers on their back anymore..was that old news?) Anyways, i gave 3 homeruns, including one grandslam by reggie sanders, thanks to the 2 damn walks *sigh* And that was the only walks i've allowed in that game. I even got 3 homeruns for myself as well but all were solo shots so that didn't help much. Lost the game 8-3, Woods walked 2, struck out one, Dempster struck out 2, so in total i've only walked 2, struck out 3. Sure is hard to strike out batters *sigh* I'm used to striking out maybe 4-11 batters in total, but only 3
vinnycast27
i know the feeling,.......getting too many k's is anoying but getting hit all over the place conceding too many walks just depresses me....
Cris987
This has been the best game for me so far - losing 8-1 and getting struck out 8 times by Livan Hernandez. I did get 3 strikeouts though, which is better than nothing. But what's really BSing is that my starter Oswalt, only got 1 K, while my LP Fassero (who literally sux) got 2 with hitters looking at the 3rd strikes. Gonna tweak the sliders and try again, I'm on All-STar
Cris987
So, have you guys found any good slider/ level to play in yet? I 'm gonna try pro today, and see what happens.
Pared
I don't understand what's so hard to about striking out batters? The reason you all are getting hit all over the place is b/c you aren't setting up the hitters right. Here is a quick tutorial vid on how to set up a hitter. Notice how I work him in, in, away, away, and finally in again. You can NOT throw your strikeout pitch in the zone. Remember, a batter is only looking to make contact with two strikes, and you have to make them fall for your pitch! http://s14.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=3VAKQ3H...X33O4L8ZFQCQ58M

So far, for me, it's one or the other...strike out 8-10 a game and never walk anyone, or strike out 4-6 per game and walk 2-3...
vinnycast27
doesnt make ANY sense but.... i got the ea patch applied evrythin again n now its working awesome lol k's walks the lot, not many runs conceded lol playin gr8 now
saimon33
I am playing all star, default sliders except power hitting, steal and baserunning. Have a 1 hitter game with pavano, 12 k's, no BB. I am okay with the k's. I gave between 4 and 10 per game, making the same number. I dont give any BB and receive 3 o 4. So i think the clue for me is working on nmy BB given. Sidewinder
I found that by eliminating the pitch cursor(was using fade), I walk more guys and also leave a fat one over the plate more also. It's making for much better games on Allstar. I really dont have much trouble hitting the green on the pitch meter until my pitcher gets very tired. If I miss on the meter it is usually past the greeen, so I try to locate where when I miss, I miss outside of the strikezone instead of over the plate. Use pitches that will tend to break more away from the plate. For example, a two seamer on the inside black to a RH batter from a RH pitcher. If you go past the green, it will tail more inside. The same for a curve, slider, split finger. If you are aiming to the outside low corner, then it will always miss away and/or down, if you go past the green. Also, you will get the CPU to swing at many of those too, especially if you have count leverage.
vinnycast27
i agree with sidewinder......just make sure if its like he said 2seam fast ball from a rh pitcher to a rh batter its inside and not outside. if its outside and you don't time it on the green you will pitch over the plate which means on all star at least a single or even worse a homer just pitch logically and you'll soon see the strikes go up as walks and hits go down.. just the way we strikeout pitcher wannabees like it :D
