sox73b3
All the pitchers bounce back too quickly in this game. I usually run my starter down to 30-40% with a solid start and he fully recovers 2 days later! You can use relief Relief pitchers every day. I don't think the bullpen slider have anything to do with game fatigue, just warming up. Has anyone else noticed this? Is there something that can be done to improve it? MikeB
Yeah, I've noticed it. The thing is that you just don't use them for 4 more days after they are done their game so it doesn't really matter.
sox73b3
I agree it is not a big deal with the Starters, but it takes some of the strategy out of handling the pitching staff if you are able to use the same reliever for 162 games. It would be nice to be forced to use someone else to close because you used your closer 2-3 days in a row.
LastPickedForTeeBall
At what energy level, for a regular starter (in the field), should you play a backup?
MikeB
At what energy level, for a regular starter (in the field), should you play a backup? That depends. After 100 pitches you should be very concerned as an obvious rule of thumb. You have to watch to see if their velocity and/or command is slipping. Those are the tell-tale signs of a fatigued pitcher. Are they throwing really fat pitches that hitter feast on? That's another sign.
