The first year the team just bombed, finished around 500 and in 4th place in the AL East. Despite the fact that i was using the Yankees, the payroll was fixed to the amount from the guys i drafted. Considering that Pujols was the only guy with a contract over 4 mil a year, the payroll was fixed around 50 million. After resigning most of the guys (except for Ray King), i only had enough salary to sign minor league free agents (garbage). Oh those small market blues . As for 2006, the season began with much optimism as following spring training, player progression boosted of my prospect's ratings up 10-12 points in hitting/pitching catagories. I moved Cole Hamels into the setup role, Felix into the rotation, and Cain into the long relief role. The team began slaughtering the competition. By mid year, i was ranked 1st overall,4th in pitching and 1st in hitting. In 2004, i was #22 overall, and in the mid 20s for both pitching and hitting. We finished with 94 wins, and won the world series in 7 games. I havent played past 2006 yet, but most of my AAA guys hit in the .300s, but do not have open spots on the big club. Thank god theres no rule 5 draft! I'll update as i continue to progress, although i think the win #s can only go up at this point (especially since the payroll limit went up 10 million, therefore allowing me to resign my prospects who made it to the majors).
