tmengd
I've been playing MVP for a couple of years now and I always thought that when the ball was down in the strike zone you should swing down, when it's up swing up and so on, but I just realized that you still swing up when the ball in down to hit hr. Do you always swing up for hr no matter where the ball is on the plate, even if it outside or inside do you guy just swing straight up. I have hit only a couple of hr's on mvp mode till now, and I wonder if it's because I wasnt doing that, but I tried it with Guerrero last night with the ball almost in the dirt, I swang straight up and he belted it way out. Thanks for any info.
Morhaky
I just kept experimenting in home run derby mode until I found what type of swing gets the most homers. Generally, swing up, add a little left or right action if you wanna pull it.
tmengd
OK thanks any info I can get is greatly apprechiated. I am ok at mvp mode with pitching and regular hit just couldn't get any hr.
DarkEnigma510
Generally you can just swing up....but you can hit homers either pushing the stick to the left or right....or even down, depending on the pitch. Personally I only push the stick up if the situation calls for it. Either I need a fly ball for a sac fly, or there is a big power hitter up. For most non-power hitters I either concentrate on either just making contact or deciding if I want to pull or go the other way.
tmengd
Oh ok. but even if the ball is down in the zone, you have a better chance of hitting a hr with a power batter if you push the stick up and swing, instead of pushing the stick down toward where the pitch is. See I always thought if you pushed the up and swung that he would swing high, and would miss the low pitch, but I guess I was wrong abot that huh? Seems like you are wrong, although I've seen "aim for the ball instead of the wall" used in most other mlb games ... up = fly ball, down = ground ball, as the others say depending on type of pitch and when you swing. tmengd
yes in other baseball games, even high heat if i remember correctly, you had to aim for the ball, and not where you want to put the ball in play, but mvp is opposite I guess

goose
I'm new here. And first off let me say kudos to all the mods out there, you guys are doing an awsome job. Second I've found I can still hit homeruns weather I use the stick or not. Sometimes for me it depends on the timing and were the ball is, weather its in the red zone or not and if its a mistake pitch.
