Kamasutra
i'll install it later when he comes out with a updated version. no trojans here.. I've had several people test the mod with success. Could just be that avg is not scanning the file properly. My Nav2004 (winXP) and nav2003 (win98) with updated virus files detect nada. So do online virus scanners. I don't plan on releasing an update, so just delete the file if you're not sure or don't want to use it. =========================================== EDIT:several people say that avg sucks at scanning and will identify dos executables or bat files as trojans. I'd use Norton..but that's me. Norton and Mccaffee successfuly scanned the file and found no risks.. For curiousity I scanned with AVG on a win98 machine just now and this is what it claims it has found: Trojan.QHosts.A (which is a variant of bootconf) but when you go to norton's site and analyse what that trojan does, it's clear that the file has no trojan (none of the description fits what AVG claims). Here's the direct link: Norton Security Center Also note what Norton says: "Virus definitions dated prior to October 14, 2003 may detect this as Trojan.Qhosts.A or Trojan.Qhosts.B." obviously you an update to your virus definitions is needed.. : The trojan is supposed to change your default home page and block access to auto-search msn... Which hasn't happened, not in my case or people who tested the mod. bottom line: if you can access auto.search.msn you have no trojan: try this link as proof: Auto Search MSN

fpuccio
I'm having the same issue. I use eTrust and it's saying it found some type of trojans. And I was looking so forward to trying them out. Any chance of just getting the different datafiles??
Kamasutra
My God Kam! this is an awesome mod, thanks so much for your hard work and time. Its a killer program very very nice, thanks again. thanks Vinestal. Guys, thanks for the feedback. Again, regarding the firewall/virus issue: it's your virus definitions that are not up to date or something to that effect. With Nav or Mcaffee (updated) no virus are encoutered. I'm no virus expert but I do believe that those software pick up dos bat programs (exe) as viruses, even though they are not. Can one of you with the issue try this patch? Let me know if you still get a virus alert: Kam_Mod_Patch.zip place the file in the _kamasutra_mod directory of mvp2004data replacing the old one. If it solves your issue, I will post it on my webpage. Again, this is only for people with un-updated virus definitions or free anti-virus like avg etc.. Others using Norton or McCaffee need do nothing.. Thanks again for the response. (btw, i'll open another thread here just for feedback later on). fpuccio
Kam, My virus dat files are up to date. Just did it before downloading your mod. In regards to the patch you posted. I don't even have that directory in my data folder. I was able to download your mod but my virus software wouldn't allow me to install it.

Kamasutra
Kam, My virus dat files are up to date. Just did it before downloading your mod. In regards to the patch you posted. I don't even have that directory in my data folder. I was able to download your mod but my virus software wouldn't allow me to install it. oh I see what you mean. Not much I can do there. I can only tell you that there are no viruses in there. But don't take my word for it, take the word of the others in this thread that are running the mod fine or at HH (feedback thread). I was thinking of making a .bat file for the people with this issue or who are worried, but if you can't install it in the first place, it might be pointless. If you can bypass your virus scanner (or disable it), install, then delete kam_mode.exe, I can make the same version as a .bat file for you. You can scan that and place it the folder then run it.. Let me know, I'll do one maybe tomorrow. As for the person who asked for the datafile, there are 20 different datafiles, I don't think it would be fun to copy/paste each datafile depending on the tweak/camera you want heh. Kind of defeats the purpose. One last note on this subject: this is not the first mod I make, and all the ones I made had batch file process for installing. As far as I know, I've never distributed a virus and hudreds of people have downloaded my batch files. So take that for what it's worth. Laters. Kamasutra
yes that one came out clean kama. whats different about the two exe's? They are compiled through 2 different programs. The first one (original) is called Compiler. It has the benifit of error checking and making sure that it can execute in any directory. Also checks for file compatibility issues and integrety. The 2nd one is made with a freeware app that is 8 years old. It doesn't have those features, and the problem is it doesn't recognize direcotries or sub-directories (specialy when they form a long string). And since it was written for win98, it won't work on XP. (if you place it in kamasutra_mod, notice the errors you get..) So now that I've narrowed down your issue, the only solution is to write a batch file specialy for ppl with that issue. No time right now, but I may get to it tomorrow or during the week. Kamasutra
i turned off my virus scanner, uninstalled and reinstalled and it says "windows cannot access the specified device, etc etc" with the "virus verified" version of the exe poonami, again, i don't think you're readin, let me quote myself And since it was written for win98, it won't work on XP. (if you place it in kamasutra_mod, notice the errors you get..) can you see that? Now I have to write another bat file for your issue... Fuzzone: Nope, it places all files in _kamasutra_mod. Needs that to place the datafile correctly in your data folder.

Kamasutra
i missed that. thanks np For all of you with the issue: I uploaded a new version just now without the exe. It's replaced with an old batch file. Download in about 30 mins, scan the file, then install, then scan again You shouldn't get any errors from your virus scanner.. Once someone with that issue confirms this, I would like Trues or Sneep to lock this thread please. Thanks.
