goose
Update: Victor Martinez hit his 12th homer of the season in the final game against the Angels to tie Aubrey Huff for the team lead. And Gathright raised his average to .269 I finished the home stand with a little over 2.8 M.So I bought a peanut vendor and a soda vendor, plus I also bought the level 2 Restautrant upgrade. Strikey Mikey's will be the next thing I buy. edit: next major update will come after the 3 game series with the Red Sox.

goose
Another quick update Victor Martinez homered in his third straight game to take the lead in home runs with the D-Rays at 13.Baldelli has hit safely in 14 straight games, and Colome gave up a homer in his 4th straight appearance as the Red Sox pounded Tampa Bay 10-2 in the second game of the series. If Colome gives up a homer in his next appearance(minimum 1 inning) I'm sending down to the minors. Joey Gathright has been impressive so far in filling in for the Injured Crawford. He is hitting better than I thought he would, and he's doing a good job of driving in runs in the leadoff spot, something Crawford struggles with. Also his speed is just unreal. He keeps this up and he will challenege Baldelli for the starting job in centerfield come spring training.

goose
Took two out of three from the Yankees.Unless something drastic happens they are pretty much done for the season as they are 7.5 back with about 15 games left to play.In the second game of the series Bell gave up 5 runs in 4 innings and took the loss. After a Santanian like half that saw him go 11-2 with a 2.17 era and 84 strike outs, he has gone 4-4 while raising his era .52 points and striking out 41.So his second half numbers have been the norm for him and hopefully he returns to his first half form for the playoffs. I have decided not to resign Jesus Colome after the season is over.He gave up 3 more solo shots against the Orioles in a 9-6 win(which was 9-3 until he came in).His era now stands at 4.17 and he has allowed 20 home runs in 68.2 innings. goose
Took two of out three from the Orioles.I head back home for a quick three game set against the Red Sox, the back out on the final road trip of the year for two 3 game series against the Angels and the Indians, before finishing the season at home with a three game series against the Orioles. I was back into the green after the last homestand, but didnt buy anything in hopes of still having money coming against Boston. It worked as I am still 120k in the green coming into 3 straight 10/10 games. So I should be able to get enough money to but something good. IMO this series against the Red Sox will determine the AL East Champions.Whoever loses this series goes in as the wildcard.Coming into it I am 6-10 against the Red Sox, so they have already won the Season series. Also I am 9-7 in September. Out of the 8 available playoff spots, 3 have been filled as of Yesterday. The Seattle Mariners won their 4th AL Western Championship, the San Fransico Giants won the NL Western Championship and the New York Mets won the NL Eastern Championship, ending the Braves 13 year streak. The following races are still going: AL Central: Twins White Sox 5.0 Tigers 5.5 AL East: Devil Rays Red Sox 2.5 Yankees 7.5 AL Wildcard: Red Sox Yankees 5.0 NL Central: Cardinals Cubs 5.5 Astros 6.5 NL Wildcard: Cubs Astros: 1.0 Philles 6.5 Reds 7.

goose
Yeh I have only lost one series this month, and that was the first one against the Blue Jays. But I'm danger of losing another. The Red Sox beat me 3-0 in the first game of their series.David Wells just absolutely OWNS ME!! He pitched a complete game, 3 hit shutout. In 4 starts against me he is 4-0, with 3 CG (2 of which are shutouts). In the other complete game I scored 1 run in the 9th, and in the other non complete game I scored 2 runs off him in 8 innings. In 35 innings against me he has allowed just 3 runs.I dont know what it is, I just cant hit this guy.He hides the ball perfectly so I never know whats coming, plus his release point is high, so its hard to read where the ball is going, and his curve ball is just plain nasty!!!! Like I said David Wells OWNS ME!! Because of him the Red Sox are now just 1.5 back of me.The Yankees lost again, so their Magic Number is now just 1.So another Red Sox win, or Yankee loss not only eliminates them from Playoff Contention, but clinches a playoff spot for me
endeavor
and his curve ball is just plain nasty!!!! I was dreading to face him in the WS, but was quickly relieved to see the SOX lose in the 1st round. Although I pray this will never happen in real life This should be an interesting post season for the D-Rays! 8)
goose
Game 2 was about the polar opposite of game 1. Mark Hendrickson continued his Cy Young Dominance pitching a CGSO in an 11-0 route of the Red Sox! Bronsyon Arryoy only lasted 2/3 of an inning and gave up 5 runs before an out was even recorded and 6 runs by the time he was done.Victor Martinez single handidly added 3 more with 2 homers in the game.He went 4-5 with 2 homers and 4 rbis. This kid is finding the home run stroke at the right time and hopefully continues it into the playoffs. Also Carl Crawford and Baldelli are now tied for the MLB lead in stolen bases with 107 a piece. Yanks still hanging in there, as they put of a 11 spot of their own beating the Orioles 11-2. Also I have decided to introduce a new feature to this Dynasty. Web Gems of the month! At the end of every month I will be posting the best web gems of that month. Edit: Won game 3 against the Red Sox.Cassey Fossum outdueled Curt Schilling in a 3-1 victory. Also I made it over the 2m mark again so I bought the Strikey Mikey's concession stand. Now its on the to last road trip of the season, against Anahiem and Cleveland.
endeavor
Good Luck the rest of the way, looks like you could get another 3-4 overall, at least, depending on how many games you have each of these two series. Good Stuff 8)
goose
well lost my second series of the month, by losing the first 2 games against Anahiem.Of course this team has been about .500 on the road all year long. Will play game 3 later to try and avoid the sweep. Well I got swept by the Angels.Bell didnt do very good gonig 4 inning and giving up 5 runs including a grand slam by Garrett Anderson. His now 15-8. On to Cleveland! goose
Split the first two games with Cleveland and will play the third either tonight or tommorow. A couple of clinchers today. The Yankees lost to the White Sox so the Red Sox clinched a playoff spot for the third straight year. The Twins clinched their division with a win over the Angels. and the Cardinals and Cubs both clinched a playoff spot. The only remaining races are the AL and NL Wildcard. All four teams are in the playoffs regardless. With 4 games remaining the Devil Rays are 2.0 up on the Red Sox and the Cardinals are 2.5 up on the Cubs. Edit: Well I won my final road game and series of the year, with a thrilling 4-3 victory over Cleveland.I ended up with a 42-39 road record. Update on the races: The cubs were shutout by Houston so that Clinches the AL Central for the Cardinals. That also means the Cubs are the NL Wildcard. And it seems I miscalculated the AL Wildcard and the Yankees standings. I simmed up to my game against the Orioles at home and New York is playing boston in a 3 games series to end the year.New York beat boston 9-8. Well it seems New York is miraclously still in this thing.I wrote them off a week ago so I stopped paying attention. But by beating the red sox they are 2 games out, with 2 left to play!!! That means if they sweep the sox they force a one game playoff. But if the Red Sox win one game then its over for the yankees. Also with the Red Sox loss that puts them 2.5 back heading into my game. With 2 games left after this game that means the elimination # is 1.So if I win, I clinch the east! So its back home for a 3 game series against the Orioles! Here's hoping for a win!!!
acpython1
Hey, just out of curiosity, as a fellow Devil Rays dynasty/owner mode player, why do you have Aubrey at 1B and Lee at DH? Lee is a potential gold glove 1B, Aubrey is a below average fielder. You seem to have great luck with pitching. Rob Bell, despite being the best rated pitcher according to MVP, seems to have a tendency to have a terrible year. He was the only one in my rotation with a losing record. Although, I simmed most of the season, so your mileage may vary. The offseason should be interesting for you... in my dynasty, I made a run at the wild card and edged out the BoSox in a one-game playoff, and my budget nearly doubled (A- manager rating)! Although, you already have a good-hitting catcher, as well as a few aces (Brazelton and Hendrickson), so there's not much you need. (In my dynasty I picked up Barry Zito and Ben Sheets to anchor my pitching staff, and had a sign-and-trade deal where I signed Lyle Overbay and traded him to CHC for Derrek Lee). You're doing great it seems, I like those gaudy SB numbers. Keep at it! 8)
goose
Yeh Lee would probably do better defenseivly and I might look into that after this season is done, but the reason I choose not too is that I figured if it aint broke done fix it.He's been doing an adequate job at first and I dont want to chance messing with his good hitting. With Bell it seems he has gone back to normal in the second half, hes like 4-6 with like a 4.35 era in the second half.Doesnt bode well for the playoffs but we'll see.As far as my running goes, the numbers are only guardy because I run almost every single time with those guys.Crawford and Baldelli always get awsome jumps, so I run constantly. Its not something managers do nowadays, but if it wasnt for the speed and pitching this team would be horrible. :| I don't think I'm going to sign anybody major in the offseason.I have some wholes for sure but I'm going to try and plus them with minor leaguers.I want to try to keep the payroll close to where it is until I get the stadium at leat 80% of the way done, or a good amount of money built up. goose
The Devil Rays won their first ever playoff game by beating the twins 4-1! It was heck of a pitchers duel threw 5 innings like I figured it would be.Both pitcher had only given up 1 hit through 5 before the twins started to unravel.Santana got Lugo to strike out but then Crawford started it off with a double down the line.Baldelli then blooped a single into center and Crawford scored.A stolen base, a double, and 2 errors later and it was 3-0. The D-Rays got some more insurance in the 8th when another error by the Twins allowed a run to score. Colome came into the 9th, got a strike out and popup before turning back into himself.A double and a single later and it was 4-1.I thought of bringing Baez in to finish it but I let Colome stay and he got the Ford to fly out to Crawford to end the game. goose
An exciting game 2 it most certianly was! Bell struggled in the first giving up 2 runs and throwing 24 pitches but from the 2nd through the 6th he settled down.Along the way I got some power from some surprising places.Down 2-0 Travis Lee turned on a inside Mulholland curve ball and sent it over the right field fence to make it 2-1.Bell then started to stuggled again and gave up 1 more in the 7th before getting out of it with a dp.Rocco Baldelli then came through in the bottom of the 7th and took a low Ricon fastball and deposited it over the left field fence. I then put if Waechter to work long relief. In the bottom of the 8th, Roberto Alomoar who had just 1 hit clear the fences all year long took a high changeup from Ricon and watch Torrii Hunter just miss it as it clear centerfield to tie it up. The game went into extras as Waechter continued to pitch well in long relief. But in the bottom of the 11th things swayed in the D-Rays favor. After Baldelli struck out, Huff singled. With Bautista coming up I thought about pich running bt decided I wanted to leave Huffs big bat in the lineup.Baustista then doubled making me wish I had pinch ran for Huff who had to stay at third.Travis Lee came up and fouled off some tough pitches before hitting a popup to Torri Hunter in Center Field.I decided to risk it and sent Huff.Luckily Hunter's throw was offline as Huff slid in to win the game!!! Mollhulland: 6.0/9/3 er/2 k Bell:70/11/3 er/3 k Notables Waechter:4.0/2/0 er/3 k (W) Huf: 3-5 Lee:2-4 HR 2 RBI (GW) Baldelli 1-5 HR Alomar: 1-4 HR Also the Red Sox beat the Mariners 4-2 to even up their series at a game a pieace. The Mets beat the Cubs 12-11 to go up 2-0, and the Giants beat the Cards 5-2 to also go up 2-0. One thing I noticed is that during playoff games I'm not charged expenses while at home. All profit goes right to the bank.So with 3.14M to spend I bought a dugout dogs and Level 2 HR Celebration. On to Minnesota looking for the sweep!
goose
AND THATS A SWEEP!!!! The Tampa Bay Devil Rays win their first playoff series and are going to the ALCS!!!!! Cassey Fossum comes in a pitches the best start of his career since his major league debut! Tossing a 2 hit CHSO with 3 k's as the D-rays win 3-0! Huff,Bautista, and Gonzalez all drove in a run.
