Never a dull moment in the life of MVP...

What the hell is that supposed to mean? What are we supposed to do, just let this guy come in here fresh and start insulting people? And who the hell are you anyway?

meta, your card is most likely the reason you're not experiencing the stuttering. For some reason, people with mid to low end cards are not getting as much stuttering as higher end cards.

In any case, this is definitely a flaw in the game. There are just too many people having the same issue for it to be anything else. I'm not holding my breath for a patch either. They had since last version to fix it, and they couldn't. Or they didn't bother because it's a PC issue. I'm sure if this problem was as prevalent on the console version (where they make their bread and butter), they'd be bending over backwards to find a fix. But unfortunately, PC gamers are an after thought these days.

Myself, I never drop below 60 frames, except for transitions shots, yet the stuttering is horrible. I play a lot of PC games and know my way around a PC as much as the next person. I'm running an amd 64 3500+, 1gig of ram, and my 256mb 6800GT.

What the hell is that supposed to mean

The same problems from years ago are still evident today. You can't waste time babysiting or you'll go nuts.

No, but when you make it public, it starts controversy. You should leave that stuff to PMs and e-mails.

And who the hell are you anyway?

I used to run a few sites back in the day. One was called TriplePlayBaseball.com and the other was MVPBaseball2003.com. Any 'old-timers' here probably remember me or those sites.

Well then, my humble apologies. I remember both of those sites. I got a lot of mods from Triple Play baseball. I'm sorry I jumped the gun on your comment, but we do get a lot of these people in here that want to come in and see how much *&^% they can stir up and get away with before they get banned.

Your two websites you had were very well run and I was sad to see them go. Welcome to our site and my apologies again to you.

Thats everywhere you go. There's not much you can do to combat the issue since there are too many reactions that can follow. Poster can get angry that you banned him and start signing up with a new alias. You can get a group of guys who jump on his bandwagon and post. Or he can just go away and not post. I wish I found a way to combat it, but you really can't. All you can do really is give ultimatums and just keep deleting or banning their username. Don't even try to IP ban because that can be circumvented quite easily. The only way that works is if you deny blocks of IPs, which sometimes affect other users.

Just be happy you run smooth site. One of the reasons I closed up shop was dealing with all the immaturity, that and the complete data loss...

Yes, it is a nice site. "Smooth" as you say, for the most part. We've got some immaturity here too, but the people who have been here for awhile know what is expected of them so they are really no problem. I don't care if there are arguements, I mean you can't avoid some of them and they usually work themselves out. But some of the new people in here don't get it yet. Just the other day we had some guy join -who's not a member anymore now- and the first thing he did was say that MVP 2005 was "gay" and that we were all "gay" for playing the game. It was obvious trolling, and Trues got rid of him.

As for you on the other hand, I got to welcome you once again. Any ideas you got for the site is of course appreciated and will be listened to. That's the way it is for everyone in here. Please let Trues know who you are. It's always nice to see another site owner in here. There's a guy named Krawhitham and he runs a MVP site too. Right here and he posts a lot in here too.

Yup, things don't change. The "gay" thing has been around for quite some time. It was huge when High Heat was popular. I wish I had the time for all this stuff but I don't anymore. I'll stop by now and again though, probably just to leech like everyone else... ;)

Well, try to make a habit out of it. You are always welcome. :p

I think some people are getting the "stuttering" problem confused with framerate.

The game runs at a nice high framerate, but for many people on PC, there is some sort of issue that is causing it to stutter... with the game sort of jerking forward. It's not slowed down or choppy in the way it would be on a slow PC (i.e. a low framerate), but a visible, legitimate "stuttering" of the video frames.

It has nothing to do with settings when it happens on a 2.6 GHz AMD FX55 with 1GB of RAM and a Geforce 6800. When Halflife 2 and Doom 3 run like a dream and a baseball game exhibits a strange stuttering effect, it's NOT the PC and it's NOT the settings. It's something that needs to be patched, because there's obviously something wrong if it's happening to that many PC players.

That's exactly the point...it's stuttering on machines while performing at 50+ FPS...It's a coding problem on EA's end, period.

Yes, it works on some machines, but the simple fact that it stutters on high end machines capable of churning out 50-60FPS (why is it capped anyways?) is inexcusable....

Last year's patch removed the cap IIRC...

Hilarious. I'm glad New Yorkers are running this site and not a laid back southerner like myself. Got 'em good.

Just to get things back on topic... this game and last years game both had the same stuttering issue occur, whenever the ball is in play it just stutters like crazy but yet my frame rate is locked in at 60fps. I've tried several different tweaks and configurations but the one thing that seems to work best is actually underclocking my video card(ATI 9600Pro) by about 150 mhz, this has improved the stuttering issue alot but it is still present and as far as I am concerned this is not a solution. I can run Half-Life 2 and many other games without any kind of lag or stuttering but MVP is by far the worst I've seen in a while. Lowering the resolution and graphics detail actually gives me more stuttering but my framerates stay the same since I have vsync on. I work on PC's for a living and I know what my PC is capable of doing so I am at the point where there is nothing more that can be done until EA actually looks into this issue.

BTW: EA will never admit to this issue, so don't ask them to acknowledge the problem. Just e-mail them with information such as PC configuration, Hardware, other games that you may be using....and I am sure at some point they will fix it like they fixed the lefty-bug last year eventhough they never admitted that there was a problem. I have already sent them several e-mails but have yet to receive any response. We as community of gamers need to push the issue so that we can play the game as it is meant to be played.

In this case, I was 100% wrong about that guy. We get too many trolls that sign up in here and that guy was not one of them. He had a great site years ago for Triple Play Baseball. His site made Triple Play better than it really was.

It's quite shocking you had the guts to call those 2 posts ignorant, when in 2 of your posts in this thread, you've singled out other people's posts and argued with them. In your 2 posts in this thread, you've insulted 2 people. You're batting 1.000. Good job.

You have no right at all on this site to say that about any user here. Maybe if you guessed less and knew your facts better, you might be a nicer person. Consider this an informal warning. You make any more of those guesses in public here, and you probably won't be here very long. You've only been a member here for 15 days, so try and do yourself a favour by not becoming one of the quickest suspended members.

Now here's the kind of drama I've come to love at this site. Breaks up a boring work day. Now all we need is for someone to die and come back to life like last year. I love it. Where's the popcorn?

Horsepower, check your PM's. You've only been here since February 23rd and you've gone and insulted some of our finest people just in this thread alone. We got by on this forum without you all this time. You won't be missed if you get my drift.

Thanks for the PM....I love you too baby.

Wow. You guys are taking yourselves way too seriously. This is a GAME. This is a message board about a GAME. Do you really think I would be hurt if you kick me out? Do what you want. I will continue to express my opinion - even if it happens to differ from your own.

Your big argument against me is that I can't say what I feel because I have only been a member for 15 days. That is silly. First of all, I was a member here last year under the username Cardozo. Secondly, posting hundreds of times in here doesn't make you an expert on anything. It just shows that you take this GAME and yourselves WAY too seriously.

Censorship on any level by you or any other moderator just shows your own insecurity. I didn't curse or cast aspersions on anyone's mother. I simply pointed out what I felt to be an utterly stupid comment. I mean, this isn't Little Miss Miniver's House of Web Etiquette is it? We are all men here (and possibly some ladies). We can take a bit of criticism can't we? Join me in the real world and stop sucking your thumb because I called you ignorant. Come back with something intelligent instead of simply threatening to kick me out. As if I even care. Make an argument - don't just throw your hands up and boot me out. All of this reminds me of my 5 year old daughter who refuses to play Candyland if she can't win and the rules don't all go her way. You are acting like a baby.

In the end, you must be the MOST THIN SKINNED NEW YORKERS I HAVE EVER MET. Most New Yorkers can take it and dish it out with the best of them. I have to question whether you are even from the Empire State. I get worse than that every day in LA. I just roll with it. My advice to you is to stop taking yourself and this GAME so seriously, toughen up a bit and try to make your city proud. Right now, after all the whining you have done, you give New Yorker's a bad name.

Like I always say, it is better to go down in flames.

You proved yourself stupid at least twice in that post.

1. You didn't call me ignorant.

2. Since when was Scotland a part of New York?

Now, I have better things to do right now, so I won't rip you a new one like I normally would. But I will say this.

My "big argument against you" isn't because you've only been here 15 days. I just happened to point that out. I don't give a damn if you've been here 150 days. If I had one, my "big argument against you" would be that you have freedom of speech on this site, but you still have to abide by the rules. Calling people ignorant is not abiding by the rules. In other words, you have freedom of speech, but that doesn't mean you can go around insulting people.

How can there be all men here if there are some women as well? For your information, there are quite a few women who post here, and I have more respect for them than I do for you.

I've eaten fools like you for breakfast in, to use your phrase, "the real world". You want it with me, bring it on. But keep it out of the main forums. Use PM's.

And as you have me interested, whatever happened to that name?

Mark, I might be able to answer that question. This board went online for the first time in Febuary, 2004. When Trues changed the software around in late April of 2004, we all had to re-register on the board. This guy must have had that user name before we had to re-register last April because that name is not in the user list.

Let me see......So calling someone "ignorant" is different from calling them "stupid." I guess that you should be kicked out too for calling me stupid in the post above. Wow, hypocisy isn't very becoming.

Second, if you read my post closely, you will see that I included "ladies" in a parenthetical that followed my point. And you were the one that was complaining about having all the facts before spouting off!

I don't have anything against you or anyone else in here. I like the fact that you come back with something other than whining about how you are going to kick me off the boards.

Hey llcmac, they'd eat this guy alive at the old High Heat board.

Indeed, they would.

And as he used "here" and not something like "at the old board" or "at the old address", I figured he meant here. Not there.

Oh, well. I'm done with this one.
