WesleyanCowboy
Ok, I will admit it, I was as upset as the next person about the "stuttering" issue I have been dealing with on my computer when playing MVP 2005. I shouldn't have these problems, I run a P4 3.2, 2GB DDR 400 RAM, and a Radeon x800 XT Platinum... the stuttering was really bad on my computer, and I was fast losing my temper. All of a sudden while I am looking around for a possible fix to the problem tonight and I see ATi has released Catalyst 5.3 drivers. I figured "what the heck, EA is blaming my drivers, and though I don't believe them... it couldn't hurt" so I went ahead, downloaded and installed Catalyst 5.3. The next time I fired up the game (vid. card @ FULL clock/mem speed) the stuttering was GONE!! Not just reduced... COMPLETELY GONE!!! I thought something had to be wrong, so I checked my settings in game -- 1280x1024x32, everything maxed, V-Sync on, just like I left it... then I check my desktop card settings, 16x AF, 6x AA, just like before I upgraded from Catalyst 5.1. All I can say is to all you ATi card users out there, give the 5.3's a try, they may work, they did for me... it is a happy day in this baseball fan's house. Just a tip I thought I would share. I can honestly say that I NEVER thought EA might be correct about this... -Cowboy
SM182
You must be working for EA Sports or just are one lucky individual because I have the same system as you exactly except my ATI card is the standard edition. So unless the slight different in video card is the huge difference still then I dunno.
megabigd
No difference with me. I have a x800 Pro 256.
The H
WesleyanCowboy, The new CATs did improve my gameplay considerably, but stuttering is still present in the game. SM182, I see that you took your Prozac and decided to calm down and re-write your post ... I'm really glad you did.
WesleyanCowboy
Nope, I don't work for EA. Nor am I an EA "fanboy" actually this is the first installment of the EA baseball line I have owned since Triple Play went so horribly wrong. Sorry to disappoint. Also, I am sorry that the stuttering didn't go away for everyone... like I said, it did for me and I just thought other people may want to know so they could give it a try. I was trying to be as helpful to everyone in the MVP community as you all have been to me... you all make this game better. Thank you for all your assistance in making the game more fun to play to all the Modders. Anyway, I hope the new Catalysts work for others, and I still agree that EA needs to address this issue ASAP, as obviously there is still a considerable problem... regardless of how much new drivers help or don't help, the underlying code is still flawed somewhere and it needs addressed. -Cowboy
mtlguy26
I have an ATI card but my system is just a 2.4, the 'stuttering' problem you have is what exactly? For me, when a pitcher pitches it gets laggy and just a couple of delays throughout the game here and there, these pauses that ruin it.
nojoke
I have the x800 XT (non-platinum) and I tried 5.3. No change to stuttering and when I tried to advance through a dead moment (ie after an out or fly ball) the screen was all scrambled up for me. Didn't affect the game at all, but it seemed so screwy that I went back to 5.2. I might try again to see if the same thing happens.
WesleyanCowboy
Nojoke: I also noticed the screen "scrambling" when advancing through a dead-moment (or cut-scene)... but that to me is not such a big issue if it knocks out the stuttering. It is a pain but I feel it is a minor issue since it only is when we choose to "skip" a cut-scene. General: I am wondering if maybe it only helped me so much because mine is a Platinum... seems many others here have tried it that don't have the Plat. but still the x800 and are getting zero or minimal changes? Just a thought. I wish I could change the title of the whole post to read: "ATi x800 Users - Possible Stuttering Resolution" -Cowboy

pdawg17
Maybe when you updated your drivers your refresh rate reset to 60hz? That might have smoothed it out a little...

p_rushing
I installed these http://download.guru3d.com/dna/. It cut the stutter down to where it is not that bad, but still there.
gepetto
EVERYONE WITH STUTTERING needs to go to this forum and post your system specs so EA can begin a fixing this.
