KenDammit
I guessed "steroids on or off" but I don't think thats it. I really ahve no clue as I have never turned it off and probably am not smart enough to find out the difference anyway :)
The H
Part of it means that there will be days in which your Pitcher either won't have his best stuff or will get a little boost to improve his performance.
RAM
what about "auto or manual pickoff returns"? i've tried both and can't figure out what the hell it does. i assumed it meant you could manually toss the ball back to the pitcher, but that's not it. I wish they'd have icons to go along with stuff like this, like in the NHL series. That's one thing EA REALLY needs to work on, uniformity throughout their titles. edm
what about "auto or manual pickoff returns"? i've tried both and can't figure out what the hell it does. i assumed it meant you could manually toss the ball back to the pitcher, but that's not it. When you have runners on base, if you choose "auto returns" they'll return to the base on their own during a pick off attempt. With it set to manual, you'll need to return them yourself. stecropper
If anyone has a fairly good idea what effect turning on "Variable Stuff" has in the game it would be much appreciated. What "The H" stated above is pretty much what I see as well and if that is the main effect then I might consider turning it off since too often some of the Top Notch Aces in the game get knocked out by the 3rd innings or so. The frequency of that, from what I have seen in the game, is not too realistic in my opinion. Thanks, Don
JP_Frost
I'm not really sure if the variable stuff has any effect on hitting or fielding, but it definately works on your pitchers. I started a game with Penny and his velocity was down to 93 I believe on his fastball ( he normally throws about 95 to 96 ) and his breaking pitches weren't moving as much as they should. This makes it alot more difficult and most of the times results into a pitchers getting roughed up on the mound. Great feature.
UncleMo
you mean to tell me NO ONE knows what Variable stuff is yet? I came here to find out. We've had this game for some time now and EA hasn't posted the answer to this?
Kccitystar
Oh god, JP_Frost has answered the question and The H has answered it rather quickly. Part of it means that there will be days in which your Pitcher either won't have his best stuff or will get a little boost to improve his performance. If I have to break it down even further, it basically means that on some days, your pitcher may have that extra break or speed on his pitches, and on some days he just doesn't bring his 'A' game.
