How do I get my Xbox Controller to work on MVP 2004 PC?

I have done the Xbox Controller mod which basically splices it with a USB cable so you can use it on a PC. If anyone knows how to get it to work with the PC version of MVP Baseball 2004, please share the details. I also need to know what the best drivers are for the Xbox Controller. If anyone has gotten their Xbox controller to work on the PC version of MVP Baseball 2004, please email me at aparoche@yahoo.com and share the details. Please email me your Controller.cfg file as well as any other details I need to know to get it to work.

I just purchased an adapter online for my xbox controller (didnt feel like trying to rig a cable by splicing and all that). Im also wondering what peoples experience has been with different drivers, if you have used an xbox controller with your pc please let us know what drivers your using and how they are working. I cant wait to play the game with a good controler finally.

I don't have the controller.cfg file, but I think these drivers are the ones you're looking for.

Thanks. Yeah, I have found those to be the best drivers for the Xbox controller. They make every single button on the controller work. I can get it to work in Battlefield: Vietnam but I can't get it to work in MVP Baseball 2004. I need someone's Controller.cfg file because I don't know what to edit.

Well if those drivers dont work in MVP there is no reason for me to try them, thats the only game Im really interested in using the controler for.

In this thread...

"what controller do you use?"

http://www.mvpmods.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.ph...659&start=0

krawhitham says he got his Xbox controller to work with the game...

Xbox controller /w home made USB adapter

No problems at all

I have PM'ed him about it and he hasn't gotten back to me yet. Hopefully, he will share the info.

The problem was that we assumed that since the left stick were axes 1 and 2, the right would be 3 and 4... but it's not.

The 3 axis is actually the left trigger. Then the right stick has axes 4 and 5. Then the right trigger is axis 6."

That trips me up .. lol .. at least people are trying!

Also, I found this post on the old forums and Umachines talked about using the xbox controller with those drivers.

That is the only post he made on the old forums and he has not made a post on the new forums yet. You might still send him a PM, maybe he'll respond.

Don't completely erase what's in the Controller.cfg file. First, edit your registry. Then, copy and paste that into your Controller.cfg. Replace whatever gamepad config is in there already, if there is one. Don't paste it over the Keyboard1 or Keyboard2 profiles because those are useful for a second player.

I just got my Xbox controller to work. I just edited my registry like the Radio Shack FAQ said to and copied and pasted the config excerpt from above to my Controller.cfg. However, I think the config excerpt above was meant for the big Xbox Controller (Duke). It makes the pitching/batting controls on my small Xbox Controller S all wacked out. I guess I will just have to remap the buttons myself.

Thanks Wretch, your config is great. Except I like having the cutoff man as R1. Damn, the Xbox Controller S kicks *** for this game. The rumble even works! I also have a Saitek P880 but I like the Xbox Controller even more. The Saitek P880 config does have all the buttons setup perfectly to match the Playstation 2 version though.

Anyways, to wrap this thread up; if you want to use your Xbox Controller for the PC version of MVP Baseball 2004, complete the following steps...

1.) Buy a Xbox to PC USB controller converter or do the USB cable mod yourself. Here is a FAQ on doing the mod yourself:

http://www.xbox-emulation.co.uk/Xbox-Controller-Mod.shtml

2.) Download Redcl0ud's "XBCD - XBox Controller Driver for Windows 98/2000/XP" from here:

http://www.redcl0ud.com/xbcd.html

3.) Follow the "Radio Shack USB-PSX Adapter" FAQ found here:

http://www.mvpmods.com/phpmyfaq/index.php?...d=6&lang=en

4.) Copy and paste Wretch's nice config to your Controller.cfg.

I know, I changed it already. ;)

Do you have extensions on?

If you do, delete the .txt and replace it with .cfg.

If not, in XP:

1) Open up Windows Explorer (WIN+E)

2) Go to Tools

3) Select Folder Options

4) Select View from the Tabs at the top.

5) Scroll down and look for:

Hide extensions for known file types.

Make sure that the box, is UNCHECKED.

Finished - now just make sure the extension is .cfg and not .txt.

Well I go into the game after I've saved the config but it acts like the controller is not there. When I go to select it from the conroller profile load screen it list as "Dual action USB controler" or whatever but when I try to load the profile it says

"You have selected a profile that does not match your device some commands may not be maped. Cancel Accept"

It never brings up that controler it just stays at keyboard 1. Then when I went to see what was in the cfg file the controller config was not there.

*sigh*

Is this because I own the Dual action Logitech controler? Do I need to uninstall it? I dont understand what that would have to do with the config file not saving correctly but Im willing to try anything at this point. It is saving as .cfg and when you look in the .cfg file its there untill you go into the game and then when you come out of the game and look again the controler part of the config is gone.

Well I give up what a waste of money, stupid thing, its like the computer wont recognize this controler as the Logitech controler, Im not sure why it wont but it wont. Wasted 30 bucks, I guess its not the end of the world, hopefully someone will be able to tell me how to get it to work, otherwise Im just hoping I can get my old dual-action Logitech to work again.

Nevermind, Im an idiot I figured out what I was doing wrong. I did the Regedit wrong. I put Dual action SUB pad instead of Logitech I read the first entry in that forum with the instructions on how to do the regedit instead of the second entry. Pfft Sorry. Now I just have to remap the buttons to get them the way I want.

Quick question in the offensive config it has the following listed

Run to 1st POV (1) 90

Run to 2nd POV (1) 0

Run to 3rd (1) POV 270

Run Home (1) POV 180

Can someone explain to me what those mean? THose are runner advance commands correct? What is POV? Im just trying to put everything the way I like it, any help is appriciated.
