I never knew you could pump fake a throw from the outfield. i.e. fake a throw to one base and throw to another. I was about to throw the ball to third to stop the runner from advancing and as i was in my throwing motion i saw the runner had pulled up. So, i accidentally hit the upper right trigger button and my outfielder went through his throwing motion but held onto the ball, i then hit the triangle to throw to second base and caught the guy on a backpick. Pretty cool. now no needless throws. And I try to backpick guys and get a few. :) Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Usual situation: runners on the corners, you field the ball on a single, fake a throw to home (which you have no prayer of making). On your fake the guy on first tries for 3rd, you throw to 3rd instead and pick the guy off. Evil, but fun. There are thousands of variants of this, I've been successful at it (online) quite a few times. Sometimes pump faking will simply confuse your opponent and he'll return to the base he was on when he notices you still have the ball in your fielder's hands.. lol Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
WAZ13 Posted March 14, 2005 Share Posted March 14, 2005 I have my fake throw set to Button 7 (R1 on my Thrustmaster Dual Power).... but it just plain doesn't work. Interestingly, intentional walks and hitting the batter (10 and 11... triggers on the back of the gamepad) also do not work in game. :| Any idea what the problem could be? WAZ13 Posted March 19, 2005 Share Posted March 19, 2005 Well, I have VPAD_FIELD_FAKE_RUNDOWN_THROW= button 7 and VPAD_VIRTUAL_BUTTON_R1= button 7 (so 7 is my trigger button).
