chiefpsu
Has anyone had this problem: The cpu won't trade with me unless the contract values I am trading them are less than the values I am taking on. Teams with $25M in salary cap room won't take on any more money, even if the players they are getting from me are a lot better than what they are giving up. I am trying to shed some salary (imagine the Yankees doing that in real life!), but I just can't seem to do it...
bgyanks
Haven't done many trades... But it is like real life minus the money these teams would require to pay some of, if not all of these guys salaries
kevineasyc
Not me, So far I traded ARod to the Cubs for Prior and Aramis Ramirez and a Double A prospect. Talk about a steal!

I can't believe that you don't ahve "Fair Trades On" ARod 25 million for all that? I highly doubt it. And in response to the original question, yes, but making money work out makes trading 20x more fun and realistic.
chiefpsu
And in response to the original question, yes, but making money work out makes trading 20x more fun and realistic. I would agree with that, but there doesn't seem to be a way to make a trade without making the money match up. I've even tried to dump a guy making $5M for a guy not half as good who is making $2M and they won't go for it. If I can't dump salary at all, then the only way to reduce salary is to cut a guy and suck up half of his contract or wait until he's a free agent and let him go. kitm9891
I made a trade just earlier without matching the money up, I traded Dreifort to the Tigers for Vance Wilson and Omar Infante straight up and I think I cleared something like 4 million and brought in a catcher who can hit righties much better then Bako can, so it is possible. saimon33
I am trying to get rid off Giambi... 4 years, 17 million per year, 34 years old... not easy at all. If anybody has a suggestion for me i would precciate.

If anybody has a suggestion for me i would precciate. Release him, deal Kevin Brown for Sosa and acquire a decent 5th starter. Also,A-Rod's salary in the game is 9 million. If anybody has a suggestion for me i would precciate. I dumped Giambi by trading him for 3 lesser players who had contracts totaling something like $18M with the idea that dumping someone with a smaller contract would be easier than dumping Giambi himself, but then I couldn't get rid of those guys for anything less than the values of thier contracts, so now I'm stuck with 3 crappy players with moderately bad contracts rather than one good player with a really bad contract :? saimon33
C'mon he sucks in the game. My decent 5th starter is "El Duque", Wright is at AAA. Brown is old, he will retire any soon. Will try to trade Giambi for 2 o 3 players.
chiefpsu
I had to turn off contracts, deal those guys and then turn contracts back on in order to create some cap room.
tmengd
I don't get it. I am in owner mode on mvp level, have fair trades on and contracts and managed to trade sheffield and greg maddux for Francisco Rodriguez and Adam dunn and both there salaries are like 300 thousand each and maddux and sheffield are over 20 million and it traded with me. I did a draft though, maybe that makes a difference? I also am the Astros and those two players were on Anaheim which might have a higher budget then some teams
chiefpsu
I'm playing in franchise mode and not owners mode... could that have something to do with it? Otherwise, I don't see how I am the only one having this problem.
tmengd
maybe, I don't know, I only play in owner mode.
saimon33
Ok, I trade off Giambi and his 17 million 4 years contract for Tim Salmon and Darin Erstad. Matsui nows play DH and Erstad plays Left Field. Salmon is my new backup outfielder. He has a great arm.
bobniborg
I miss the ol' trade o meter from madden. I hate having to do all these attempts at trades rather than just setting them in there and seeing a meter tell me I need something else. If it were a real GM he would tell me to throw in something else so I dont think the meter is cheating (the real difficulty is the AI making fair trades. pcoz
I'm seeing the same thing as chiefpsu. I'm playing in Dynasty mode with fair trades turned on, and I can't make any trades unless the money matches up. Tried making some ridiculous trades just to experiment - giving up Jim Thome or Bobby Abreu for the worst Single A player in the organization, and they were rejected. It wasn't until I got the money to match up that I was able to pull something off. It looks like you can't give up even 100k more in salary than what you receive. No idea why EA went this route. HypnoxXx
Does trading closer to the trading deadline have any effect on this "salary dump" bug?
jservice
I want to have more detail in the trade talks. If I make an offer to a team, I want to know how close we are to a deal. Something like... Telling me want the team is looking for a SP, RP, IF, OF, $$$ etc... Maybe a mod tool can by created somehow?

dannyt
Is there any program out there that would trade all of an organization's players from one team to the other without having to do it manually?

dannyt
Yeah, I did the team changer, but I still wanted all the players from the old team. I'm just lazy I suppose, ha.
