MarkB
Trade is done. I never realised how many changes there were when I first looked at the list, but there are a few to be made. The main one that's kicking my *** just now is having to move Jonathan Poterson to right field. Sounds OK, but because I'm using the best of all the A teams, I've got Tim Battle (Very fast), Kevin Reese (Good power), Estee Harris (Very fast) and Rudy Guillen (Good hitter as well as being quite fast). Unless I want to end up with 5 outfielders in Tampa, at least 1 is going to have to go and since they're all pretty good, I can't decide who. I've also got another 11 players to create, and I've already created Jason Brown. The other thing I had to mention was about J.T. Stotts. He was asking for a release through the winter, but the Yankees kept denying him it. Apparently he's not very happy, but he went 3 for 5 in a ST game. I can't guarantee that this will be done before tomorrow night, so this will probably be an AOD release. Also, Juan De Leon and Maximo Nelson are out for the season due to VISA issues. I had Maximo Nelson in one of the first versions, but removed him due to lack of space, and now Juan is gone too. I hope they get the situation sorted. MarkB
OK, I've upated the rosters. They are pretty much done, and they look decent, but I've not tested it in-game yet, so I'll probably do that tomorrow. I can 99% guarantee a release by 10pm BST (5pm EST) tomorrow. It's almost 6am BST now. Be prepared for the final BOD release! BTW, this one should be very accurate down to AA Trenton. I'm still waiting on the final rosters for the Clippers being posted on their site, and the finals for Trenton (The one I posted earlier was just the preliminary ones). I think Tampa is pretty accurate anyway and since I can't find anywhere that has their actual rosters and team information (The Tampa Yankees website focuses, rather bizzarely on the field instead of the actual team 8O ), but I'll make any changes that come up. Less than 24 to the first game of the season. :D
MarkB
OK guys, the final BOD roster has been uploaded. This will probably be the last one for a week or so until the rosters and rotations etc. are final. This is BOD9, and these are the changes: Update 9 - BOD9 Moved Paul Quantrill to setup role. Created Wil Nieves, assigned to AAA Columbus. Moved Bret Prinz to LAA AAA team, changed number to 64. Deleted Nate Grimsley from LAA AAA team. Deleted Juan De Leon. (VISA problems, won't be pitching this year.) Made Jonathan Poterson a Right Fielder and changed his second position to catcher. Created Jeff Karstens, assigned to AA Trenton. Created Justin Pope, assigned to AA Trenton. Created Jon Skaggs, assigned to AA Trenton. Created Tommy Winrow, assigned to AA Trenton. Created Jason Brown, assigned to AA Trenton. Created Andy Cannizaro, assigned to AA Trenton. Created Charlie Isaacson, assigned to AA Trenton. Created Gabe Lopez, assigned to A Tampa. Created Jared Koutnik, assigned to A Tampa. Let me know of any problems. :)
poonani
since i still havent completed work on my yankee roster/mod thingy, ill keep trying to help you out (youve done great work by the way). you didnt give alot of players star ratings/gave way too low star ratings. heres the #s i came up with.. Abreu - 4 Andrus - 2 Battle - 3 Clippard - 3 Fuentes - 1 Garcia - 4 Gomez - 3 Guillen - 3 Harris - 2 Hoover - 3 Hughes - 4 Jones - 2 Julianel - 2 Koutnik - 2 Lopez - 2 Made - 2 Marquez - 3 Martinez - 2 Phillips - 3 Poterson - 4 Ramirez - 2 Reese - 2 Rodriguez - 2 Vechionacci - 5 Zamora - 1 ----- Brown - 1 Cabrera - 4 Cannizaro - 2 DeSalvo - 3 Duncan E - 4 Duncan S - 3 Grove - 2 Henn - 2 Isaccson - 2 Karstens - 2 Manning - 2 Olivares - 2 Ortiz - 1 Parker - 2 Pope - 3 Santos - 2 Sardinha - 3 Shepard - 1 Sierra - 4 Skaggs - 2 Stotts - 1 Tejeda - 2 Thompson - 2 Winrow - 2 ------ Anderson - 2 Bean - 3 Betts - 2 Borrell - 3 Cano - 4 Cosme - 1 de Paula - 3 Depastino - 1 Escalona - 1 Graman - 2 Groom - 3 Hall - 1 Johnson - 1 Marsonek - 2 Mendoza - 3 Nieves - 2 Parrish - 2 Phillips - 3 Porter - 2 Proctor - 3 Rolls - 2 Small - 1 Vento - 2 Voyles - 1 Wang - 4 --------------- Also a few other things i'd suggest. For Columbus: Ramon Ramirez should be moved to triple A as he will be in their rotation this year. Jason Anderson should be dropped into middle relief as he hasnt started in a long time. Kevin Reese should be moved to triple A as he will be in their starting lineup and in Right Field. Damian Rolls would probably be better suited as the 3rd baseman (thats his natural position). To support these two moves i would suggest removing Aaron Small and Joe Depastino from the roster as they are both career minor leaguers will likely wont see any playing time in the Yankee system this year as their ceiling is minimal. For Trenton: Get rid of Teuris Olivares & Javier Ortiz, both are not in the organization anymore Make Kevin Thompson a LF. Move Sean Henn to middle relief/setup (hes being converted into a Lefty specialist this season) Move Eric Abreu to Trenton (he is starting at Tampa to start the season but will be moved to Trenton very soon. Plus this makes room for all the starters in Tampa). Move Justin Pope to long relief. Move Gabe Lopez to Trenton (he will be their starting 2B in 05). Change Andy Cannizaro's position to SS (he will be starting there in 05) Drop Ferdin Tejeda to A. For Tampa: Change Vechionacci's position to 3B. Change Tejeda's position to 2B (hes moving there this year) Move Abel Gomez into the rotation Move Jason Jones to long relief Create: Paul Thorp - Closer of Battle Creek in 04 Mario Holmann - 2B/SS in Staten Island/GCL Matt Carson - OF of Battle Creek in 04 John Urick - 1B of Battle Creek in 04 Irwil Rojas - GCL Catcher in 04. Sleeper prospect at catcher. Thorp becomes the 2nd setup man with Hoover. Rojas becomes the starting catcher Urick is a backup 1B. Carson is a backup OF, as Poterson should become the DH, as Guillen is better in the field. Holmann becomes the starting 2B, Made the starting SS, and Nacci the starting 3B. Tomorrow if you give me a holler on MSN i can throw together some CAPs for the guys i mentioned. Or...you can not do any of this, and thats fine too I'll look more at the real ratings of these guys soon so we can get the velocities and pitches perfect. MarkB
Nah, I don't think I'll bother making any of those changes, poonani. Too much work. Sorry, couldn't resist. That's great information, thanks a lot! As far as the star power thing goes, I was really hoping to try and do some work on that, I've not really done very much on it. I've noted all of that down in a text file and I'll be using that for the next version. Since it won't be for another week or so, that should give me ample time to get things accurate as per the team lineups and rosters etc, which I'm hoping will be announced soon. I can't believe they got rid of Javier Ortiz...from what I read, he was a really good prospect. Thanks again. :D

MarkB
It's more the Clippers roster I'm waiting for as I don't think Tampa should need much work. Remember, I'm just using the best of the A teams, I'm not basing them on Tampa alone. Hopefully that Trenton roster won't change much either, that's what I based the last version on. MarkB
The Clippers roster has been updated. Link. Well, it all looks good, so I don't see any problems having the next version out within a week. EDIT - Wow. After a closer look, things might not be so simple, for the next few days at least. A few of the NRI have went missing, with Joe Depastino and Noah Hall being 2 of them. Last I saw of them, they had been assigned to Columbus, but they aren't in the Columbus roster that's just been updated. They're not on the Trenton projected roster either. Weird. I'll make what changes I can for now. Double EDIT - Damn, edited the wrong message!
poonani
De Paula, Noah Hall, and Danny Borrell are noticably absent. Im guessing DePaula and Borrell are in extended s/t since they are returning from injuries, but they will be in the clippers rotation by late april/may imo. MarkB
I suppose this is where it would be useful if MVP had a default disabled list with the rosters. :? Poonani, in your opinion, is Bubba Crosby faster than Bernie Williams? I haven't heard any reports of him having great speed, just that he's faster than Bernie. Bernie, however, has a 77 speed rating in EA's rosters, and I would think that if Bubba had a ~80 speed rating, I would have heard more about his speed. Is it just that EA have made Bernie too fast, or is it just that speed a seriously under-rated part of Bubba's game? For reference, without creating any of the players you mentioned, I have 25 guys in MLB, 27 guys in AAA, 25 in AA and 22 in A. I'm tempted to cut Brad Voyles as I don't think he'll be with Columbus for very long, but without a final roster for Columbus, I'm reluctant. Thanks for your help! Bernie should be in the high 60s and Bubba in the high 70s and with a higher range # than Bernie. Bubba has around the same speed as A-Rod or Jeter. Also, im confused about how you came up with those #s for Columbus. You cut Aaron Small and Joe DePastino and add Ramon Ramirez and Kevin Reese :)

MarkB
Just a minor update: I've been working on the rosters and the next release is still going ahead. I've got the rosters, lineups and rotations sorted and they are ready to go, but I'm just going through the whole thing and checking everything is right. Anyone know if Buddy Groom has a custom face? I assumed he must have given that he's been a major leaguer for years, but I can't find it.

MarkB
And so it begins...again. Some good news to start off with: I've updated all the fake names of all the players on McDiddy's player list (here). I've also done all the Audio/Photo ID numbers, so now, if they have a portrait, you'll see it and if they have audio, you'll hear it. I also fixed the names and audio/photo ID's of all the non-MLBPA players. This is for all the top 50 prospects in baseball, not just the Yankees. Hanley Ramirez, Felix Rodriguez, Andy Marte - them all, so now you should have some real prospects other than the Yankees. From what I've seen, EA has assigned the "Top 50 prospect" criteria to the right players, so I don't think I should have to mess with that. More to come. :)
MarkB
I've been having a look at the latest rosters and signings that the Clippers and Thunder have been making and there are a few players in there that aren't in the last version of the rosters. Yobal Duenas was in Trenton last time I saw him and Deivi Mendez was in Tampa, but both are now with Columbus. The Clippers also seemed to have signed Kris Wilson, a 29 year old who played with the Royals from 2001-2003 and posted a 14-9 record, but had ERA's of 5.19, 8.20 and 5.33. He looks like a non-prospect, but was invited to Spring Training by the Red Sox and wasn't signed. I think that because of the injury troubles the Yankees have had, they've had to make some moves in the minor league system to keep up with them, so these guys probably wouldn't be in Columbus otherwise. With this in mind, I'm going to try to work with the way the rosters are now without adding too many people, but I have 1 space to fill anyway with Steve Karsay being released. This might go to Brad Voyles or Pete Munro (who I still think are roster-fodder until the spaces are filled), it could go to a youngster such as Deivi Mendez or it might go to experienced Marc Valdes, who also looks to be roster fodder. We shall see, but right now, I'm planning on waiting it out until the injury scene calms down in New York. When it does, the appropriate changes will be made to the minors (hopefully), and I can sort everything out and designate players accordingly. Ramiro Mendoza might be getting out of Tampa soon, so when he's back, he'll be joining either Columbus or New York. If anyone has any special preference to who they would like to fill that roster space in the next version (Voyles, Munro, Duenas, Mendez, Valdes, other) let me know. :)
MarkB
Quick update: There are now 2 roster spots open because Rafael Rodriguez was released. I have created Kris Wilson, the new Clippers pick-up, using the EA player from 2003 and have inserted him into the Free Agent pool along with Brad Voyles et al. I've been spending this morning having a look at the AA and A pitchers, and I noticed that they were actually pretty good based on the rest of the system, so I've re-evaluated all of them and corrected them accordingly. It's been mainly control ratings that have went down, but they are still accurate. The pitchers that are pretty good with control in real life still are when compared to pitchers on the same level as them, but not as good as players in AA or AAA, as some were previously. I've also been making a lot of changes that I haven't been logging in the changes list, minor things like adjusting equipment or ratings. I've only made one entry in the changes list for them all, but there are actually a lot of them. I'm seriously thinking of replacing the .met version with a .mbe version to eliminate the problem with All-Star players being duplicated. I probably will end up doing this. It saves everyone some time because instead of having to import the 4 teams manually and make any changes necessary if the players are duplicated, you just open the roster in MVPEdit and do what you want from there. Probably more to say, but I can't remember anything else, so that's all. ;)
knich
MarkB, I have tried to import your .met yankee rosters. They work great for minor league teams, but for some reason crash with Yankees (major). I tried comparing a working Yank roster with yours and did not see any differences except yours won't work with ultimate rosters. Please help. MarkB
Just a quick update to let everyone know what's happening with these. There WILL still be another version (at least another 1). I've always planned to release them when the Yankees got their injuries under control and had some solid rosters, and, unfortunately, that time hasn't come yet. With Jaret Wright due back soon and Kevin Brown on his way back (goodie :eew: ), they should be sorted quite soon. It's all worked out quite well, though, because with the extra time I've had, I've been working a lot on the other teams and not just the Yankees. The next release, AOD2, will have the following changes and addditions: It will have all the players on this list included with their correct names. I've been creating a hell of a lot of real players to replace the fakes in the minor leagues, as well as some of the 2005 draft picks, so instead of just having the players from that list included as real players in the minors, there are now some more of the top MLB prospects in the game, as well as others. Some teams, such as the Tacoma Rainiers and the New Orleans Zephyrs, the Mariners and Nationals AAA teams respectively, have either complete or almost complete and accurate rosters, whicle some others have some respected prospects for their teams included alongside the best of the best in the teams. I've also been keeping pretty up to date with the latest transactions in both the majors and the minor leagues. Given that I follow the Trenton Thunder quite a lot, there is a pretty good chance that a lot of the AA teams should be quite accurate, in particular, the Reading Phillies. Moving on, I've created a good amount of the Yankees prospects who simply don't fit on the rosters or are in lower-A levels and placed them on the Free Agent list. This means that if you don't like a certain player on the Tampa Yankees or want the single-A roster as accurate as possible, you can have it. The Free Agent pool now has a lot more real players who are free agents as opposed to the fakes who have names stolen from actual major leaguers. There are still fakes in there, but not nearly as many as previously, and with those players being editable, I'm keeping my eyes open and checking regularly for stupid game-generated names such as Andres Rodriguez. The more free agents I have, the less the game creates with names like this, so it's looking good for now. This also means you have a much greater choice of free agents when you start your game, and you can even edit them before using the game by doing what you want to them in MVPEdit. I had a look at the first round of the 2004 draft a few days ago and noticed that m about half-three quarters of the guys weren't included on the rosters, so I've spent the last few days working on them. I've added all the pitchers from the draft, as well as a position player or two. Matt Bush, the first pick who was signed by the Padres, is now created and assigned to the Padres A team. And, since this is the all-star weekend, I've been keeping an eye on the all-star rosters and I will be creating every player on the AAA and AA all-star game rosters, and, depending how it goes, maybe the A roster as well. Quite a few of the players are already created and done, so adding the rest of them is logical and should ensure that the real prospects are included over the career minor-leaguers and hangers-on. As with all the other updates, I've been keeping the audio/photo ID numbering system up to date, so all the players I've created above have correct audio and photo ID's, so, if they have them, you will be able to hear their names being announced in the stadium, as well as seeing their portrait thanks to Hory's excellent Total Portaits series. The Yankees system itself hasn't been neglected from all the other work on other teams - far from it. This was the first thing I was working on before I started with the other teams, and they have received a complete overhaul. When I released AOD1, I had another look at the system as a whole and, although happy to a degree with how it turned out, I still had that feeling of "Could do better". So, I did. I've adjusted the ratings and abilities of players to represent either their youth and inexperience, or their age and experience. I've also done research into the game as a whole and changed some values around to make the system more realistic as it is now. Sure, it might be a little less accurate when you are in year 2020 of your dynasty and the player is ready to retire, but I think with the way I've worked the attributes, they should be accurate for the immediate future. Having seen a few minor league games, I have some footage of some of the players, most of whom are on the Trenton Thunder, and am planning to update the batting stances and pitching deliveries accordingly. A few are already done, but there is more to be done. There are also a few more broadcasts, so I will be getting a further look at the players and should be able to get a few more aside from the regular starters. And the best part - I'm not done yet! They are still very much a work in progress and they will be until I am ready to release them. If a player is promoted, it will be represented in the rosters. If he's released, it will be represented. I have the 2003 draft open in another tab as I'm typing this, and I'm planning to add the notable players from this as well, if they are still active. In the AOD1 package, the changes.txt file, the file containing the list of the changes I had made, was 7kb. As it is now, with the file not even close to being completed and with lots of exceptions that I've not added to the file, it's now 16kb. I'm using the rosters now for exhibition games and they are, as they always have been, perfectly stable. If it was necessary, I could release them now and they would work fine, but, to be honest, I, again, wouldn't be satisfied and would probably still have that feeling of "Could do better", then would spend more time updating them anyway and end up releasing an AOD3. Also, as I'm working on Waterfront Park, the home of the Trenton Thunder, you should have a home stadium for the Thunder to use when playing with them in-game. Want to see Eric Duncan throwing from his knees on the line over the Waterfront Park diamond to his baseball-bombing team-mate Shelley Duncan? With the combination of Waterfront Park and these rosters, you can! I wonder if I will even get a dynasty in this year? Anyway, I think that's about it. I've probably forgotten something, as usual, but I'm sure I'll cover it at a later date. If anyone is planning to start their dynasty soon and would like the latest version as they are now instead of using the AOD1 update (which pales in comparison now, even to me), let me know and I'll send you the latest version. (Wow, that wasn't such a quick update after all. :lmao: )
