Classic teams rosters?

anyone interested in putting together a "classic" roster of teams that won the WS?

I'd love to play the 79 Pirates vs. the 73 A's.... as well as other great teams of the past.

I've been sort of working on the 1969 Cubs and a kind of conglomerate Yankees team with all the unlockable players. I've got all the unlockable players on their right teams and was thinking of filling in the rest but I've realized it's not easy to get information on a lot of those players. I mean I can certainly get a roster and uniform numbers etc, but when it comes down to batting stance and those kind of details you kind of have to make it up and then all you really have is a name and number. Not the same as seeing Babe Ruth up there with his real face and stance. Any ideas on how to do this?

here are the ones I have done (not part of Fuzz's set)

Since MVPedit has had some tweaks done to the way it imports players in relationship to rankings, I started over for 2005 (plus I wanted career stats for everyone)

and I should be done in a week or so

1919 reds

1925 pirates

1940 reds

1950 phillies

1955 dodgers

1960 pirates

1965 dodgers

1969 mets

1971 pirates

1975 reds

1979 pirates

1980 astros

1980 phillies

1981 dodgers

1981 expos

1982 brewers

1986 astros

1986 mets

1988 dodgers

1990 reds

1992 brewers

1994 expos

1999 mets

2004 astros

alltime astros

alltime brewers

alltime dodgers

alltime expos

alltime mets

alltime phillies

alltime pirates

alltime reds

forumfanatics

modsquad

Cubs All-Time

Cubs 1908

Cubs 1945

Cubs 1984

Orioles All-Time

Orioles 1966

Orioles 1970

Orioles 1983

Orioles 1997

Red Sox All-Time

Red Sox 1918

Red Sox 1946

Red Sox 1975

Red Sox 2004

Indians All-Time

Indians 1920

Indians 1948

Indians 1995

All-time teams it what takes awhile, I import each player's best season for their team. It would go alot faster if I just used CAPs but I want to be a true ALL-TIME team (best stats they put up for that team in a season) not just an franchise allstar team

what I think would also be fun, is the all time teams ... pretty much carting Neyer's big book of baseball lineups into MVP.

would love to have Bone and Junior on Seattle, with Reynolds at second, Alvin Davis at first, Jim Presley at third ... Langston and Unit.

basically, the best position players of each team of all time.

of course, it would take a lot of work and i much prefer reaping the fruits of someone else's labour.

well we'll just let the community determine that when the uni-editor comes out, and then they'll have another chance to decide when my classic roster comes out..

but kraw, what r u doing responding to posts? You should be looking for someone to leech off of and push urself into their work.

are you forgeting who you handed TC over to, and said fix this I do not have time?

Lie all you want now, it makes no difference

all your uni-editor does in import graphics, it is a uni-assembler if anything

all of which can be done at a commandline

you are making a glorified frontend for other peoples programs

cool, then dont use it. Go find guest or jpup, rip off something they did. 2004 sure feels like 2005.

yeah i handed tc over to u? u kept bugging me online about when it was going to be done when it was going to be done..constantly annoying me trying to smother ur way in..look at u...LOOK AT U FALLING APART.

Cant we all just get along-I used both of your classic teams-lets all go take a dose of steroids like the million dollar cry babies and everything will be fine-That's why I like the classics-they didn't do steroids they played the game without performance enhancers

i want him to answer one more question, and that'll be it between me and him. That glorified interface or my uni-editor, did he ever use it??

because i'll put him in his place in a fast way.

any chance that these classic rosters can be converted to ps2?

I've created quite a few teams (84 cubs, 82 angels, 65 Twins, 85 NL All Stars, 85 Cards) but it's a pain in the rear doing it with the ps2 controller. . . . .a ps2 editor would be heavenly :D

There are so many ways to go with this type of project ... all-time great teams, all-time greats at each position for each team. As someone said, just look through Neyer's Lineups book.

I would be happy to help out with any such project, if someone wants to hook-up. I am a PS2 player currently, but probably about to switch to PC because my real passion is playing old-time games.
