JeffIsSoGreat
What do you mean by ball lag? I am new to this MVP/PC world within the last few days, and I was able to get the PC version working from Abandonware with a few minor tweaks and it seems to run pretty well. The biggest tweak related to sniping single DLL files that would have likely been tied to the old version of DirectX that doesn't want to install because it is so dated. Thinking out loud here: if your issue is related to the modern OS, will the disc version actually help you? To install the game I had to mount both discs which should be identical to the CD Rom. It was crucial for me to find d3dx9_27.dll because it was required but would not install because the old DirectX version was rejected due to newer versions being around. Jim825
If you are going to discuss getting a cracked version to work, take it offline. We don't discuss or provide support for illegal downloads on this site. It's against the rules.

JeffIsSoGreat
I wonder if this might help? I didn't install these myself, but did notice they are out there. Sorry fellas, wasn't trying to break any rules and didn't really mention cracking anything! Just pointing out the DLL file I had to find from old DirectX 9 version. Happy Friday! Happy Friday! long story short, when you run these patches and try to run the game using virtual disks (not having physical) you get a cd rom error resulting from drm security, regardless of having both disks inserted/loaded or not
JeffIsSoGreat
You're already way ahead of me! Good luck brother! Trying to go backwards in technology is surprisingly difficult.

Trying to go backwards in technology is surprisingly difficult. its always been an issue! its come a long way, PCem emulates real hardware to be able to properly process older games that are obsolete, something id recommend before trying to build a retro pc for older windows games
