frankynaky Posted March 23, 2005 Share Posted March 23, 2005 Once i posed the question to Rglass about adding portraits during Dynasty mode to players that did not have them. My reason for wanting such a feature is to make the game more personalized in a similar way I could with the High Heat editor. After a while the default portraits become so similar that you loose connection with the history of your MVP Dynasty. However, isn't that the purpose of baseball, that old hereos are replaced by new hereos, old faces are replaced by new faces, etc. With high heat I could pluck in a new portrait to any of the players that went from minors to the big leagues and it gave me the sense that in fact a REAL PERSON (yes i know they are fake, but in spirit they are real) was entering into the history book of my baseball Dynasty. And with each new player, there was a new face, and sense of a continuance that made the game and Dynasty mode really enjoyable. However, MVP does not have that, and you tend to loose that sense of a history in the Dynasty mode feature in MVP baseball 2005. All the faces become more and more generic over the years, and you get a sense what the world had been like if the NAZIS had been succesful in implementing their final solution of a superior race dominating the world. Now i know this might be a farfetch comparison, but I hope you see why it is necessary to be able to add portraits during Dynasty mode. My proposal to assist Rglass in this venture, if he decides to take on such a task, is to have a money drive where all the members of this community donate a percentage or their earnigns to pay for the cost of developing such a technology (i.e. software). I'm sure if we all got together, pending that this technology is important to enough people, and put the first foot forward, it would propel Rglass to take on such a task. This is not a flame, but do you have any knowledge of the proper structures for writing? I can make out one word in the whole thing "NAZIS", and have no desire to read this blob. Kamasutra Posted March 23, 2005 Share Posted March 23, 2005 I DID read it (it still hurts, but oh well) so I'll translate: he's basically asking Rglass to add the ability to mod portraits for players on rosters once a dynasty is started. Then he goes on for a while why this feature would be so awesome. what he doesn't get is: 1. this is a limitation of the game itself, not of mvpedit. It was EA's responsibility to allow us to edit player's appearances/faces once a season is started. 2. this has been asked countless times before, since mvp2004 first came out and people started making portraits.
