Batting Ability

Hey guys,

I've read the batting guide that's on perfectgame.net or whatever and I know about timing, hitter's eye, and the hot and cold zones, but I just can't buy a damn hit. First of all, I have to say that none of the camera angles really allow you to see the pitch for a ball or strike consistently (some look like they are going high but are actually low or right down the middle).

Moreover, you can't time everything perfectly because there's so much crap that you have to remember as far as a hitting zones, hitter's eye, AND timing. Is there any way to hit without stupid ideas like just wait for an outside pitch and use high heat style? or is it just too complex that i have to play a really long time to understand how to bat? i have played about 25 games and my best game was 6-2 and i play with one of the best batting teams in baseball. i pitch very well, but I just can't hit. it's on all-star so if someone can help me out that would me great.

by the way, i have a problem with the fielding and this is just a gameplay issue that EA screwed up. the infielders and outfielders catch everything...everyone can make a diving play quite easily. those plays that in real life where the shortstop traces it back and catches it with his back turned are considered web gems in real life, but its routine in this game. i've also noticed that if you make good contact, often it gets caught because the fielders make up 50 feet in 2 seconds.

As far as hitting goes.....it's kinda like real baseball.....you have to pick up the ball as soon as possible and get a fix on the velocity......from there you're thinking "fastball or offspeed"(try not to think to much, though)............at this point you have to know what pitches the pitcher has.....a change up and a curve ball can look the same until about half way to the plate.....remember, a pitcher is trying to "fool you"..........

As far as balls "looking a high and going low"..........be careful on an 0 and 2 count, or even a 1 and 2 count........a lot of pitchers are going to try and get you to chase a bad pitch......if a pitchers got ahead on you with a lot of off speed junk high or outside, a low fast ball is going to be hard to lay off........

Also, get to know your pitches and what they do........play a game and just watch the pitches.....just for practice.........don't swing, just watch......practice soley on keepin your eye on the ball

And remember, you're going to get fooled now and again.........especially on the higher levels, no matter how good you are........

just keep practicing.....the game is actually very good.......you just have to get used to it and get some sliders that work for......search around on forums for sliders settings, that should at least help with the fielding

yeah i guess you need a LOT of practice to get it right. but the fielding just gets on my nerves...random noname fielders get like 3 diving catch outs a game and infielders always make plays in the outfield that are "spectacular" every game.
