Annoying All-Star Game bug...

I don't know how many of you have gotten to the ASG yet. I know many of you like to play each individual game, so you might not be that far yet.

I've simmed through a few 05 seasons just messing around, and I've noticed it happening every year.

The starting lineup for the All-Star teams end up having nothing to do with the voting. The game takes the guys that made the team and then pulls a "CPU Optimize Rosters," the end result having nothing to do with how the voting went.

One good example is that as long as A-Rod makes the team, even if he's second in the voting at 3rd, he will be starting, either at SS or at 3B.

In my most recent ASG, Melvin Mora was first in the voting at 3B, Renteria was first at SS, and Soriano was first at 2B; A-Rod was second in voting at 3B and Jeter was second in voting at SS. Instead of them being the starters, as it should be, A-Rod started at 3B, Mora got moved to starting 2B, Jeter started at SS, and Renteria & Soriano got benched.

It may not be a big deal to some people. But it's rather annoying when you keep checking the All Star voting to see if your guys are going to make the team, and then they end up riding the pine because the CPU decided someone else had better ratings.

Also, the top 3 OF were Johnny Damon (CF), Manny Ramirez (LF), and Ichiro (RF).

The starters ended up being Ichiro (CF), Manny (LF), and Vlad (RF).

Ortiz & Teixeira were 1 & 2 at 1B, but Tex got the start at 1B with Ortiz being the starting DH.

V-Tek was also the leading catcher (although he should't have been at all), but Javy Lopez got the start.

Oddly enough, neither Tek nor Javy should've even made the team Joe Mauer and Victor Martinez were both more deserving IMO, but that's neither here nor there.

Even with the voting doesn't it come down to the coaches decision now that the game "counts".?

I don't believe so. And even if it did, you wouldn't have people out of position, like having Melvin Mora starting at second base, or Ichiro starting in Center.

Well, maybe Ichiro in center, Lord knows he's fast enough to cover the area.

I just sent an e-mail off to EA (not that they'll do anything), but here's the actual breakdown of it:

According to the voting, the starting American League lineup should have been:

C: Jason Varitek (Javy Lopez backup)

1B: David Ortiz (Mark Teixeira backup)

2B: Alfonso Soriano

3B: Melvin Mora (Alex Rodriguez backup)

SS: Edgar Renteria (Derek Jeter backup)

LF: Manny Ramirez

CF: Johnny Damon (Torii Hunter backup).

RF: Ichiro (Trot Nixon & Vladimir Guerrero backup)

Instead, the game took all the players available on the team, and made it's own lineup, which ended up being:

C: Javy Lopez (Jason Varitek backup)

1B: Mark Teixeira (David Ortiz DH, no backup)

2B: Melvin Mora (Alfonso Soriano backup)

3B: Alex Rodriguez

SS: Derek Jeter (Edgar Renteria backup)

LF: Manny Ramirez

CF: Ichiro (Johnny Damon & Torii Hunter backup)

RF: Vladimir Guerrero (Trot Nixon backup)

That's 4 starters (V-Tek, Soriano, Renteria, Damon) getting bumped to the bench, and 3 guys out of position (Ortiz to DH, Mora to 2B, Ichiro to CF). That's just not right.

And no, this doesn't bug me just because there were supposed to be a bunch of Red Sox starters.

I also simmed a good majority of the games, so they were voted on to the teams on their own merit, not me playing on a difficulty level below my own ability.

I just went to play the ASG and get the rosters the way they should be, and while getting the NL side set up, I noticed that Craig Counsell was supposed to be the #1 2B, and he didn't even make the damn team!!! Jesus EA, WTF?!

Yea its messed up... I dont even play the all-star game.

The thing is, I could've sworn it worked perfectly in MVP04. I don't know how they could've screwed it up so badly when all they've done is build on the old code.

Could this be a workaround?

Use MVP Edit and you make a roster for the All Star Game based on what players you want in there. When you get to the game itself. Load the roster you just made and sim the one in your season. After all, that is the point to play the All Star game with the players you want.

Nope, once you start a Dynasty, it's rosters are wholly independent of anything else. Loading a different roster wouldn't make any difference.

The game also keeps changing my rosters automatically after I finish the Off-season. I tried this several times and got the same result. I do whatever I need to do and set my line-ups and rotation during finishing "Sign Free Agents" and then the CPU "Auto-Finishes" it and trades away half my bench, sends down and calls up guys, and shufles my line-up. WTF?! That pisses me off like ****...

Can EA do anything right?! ******* idiots...It worked fine in MVP 2004, why break it in MVP 2005?
