bravesj858
i'm just wondering what setting would be the better to use, my pitching isn't perfect in pro, and my hitting is decent, but most people here are in all star mode? advice?
Kev72As
Go with Pro! If you can win most games then change it to Pro and see how you do.
camus
I've basically already mastered MVP. Now the game is getting a littttttle boring being 78-39.
voodoo_daddy
I'm stuck at Pro, my pitching blows, but my hitting is reliable. When the games bore you at Pro, move up to All-Star.
Kamasutra
All I can say is Pro does wonders for your hitting, on or offline. I dont' know about the pitching, never had a problem on pro or allstar, probably because of online play. After dropping to pro mid-season, I recently moved back to allstar and started hammering the cpu. I'm now skipping allstar and staying on mvp...till the next slump :p
nittanylionfan3
Guys, I'm winning every game I play in pro, by like 2 or 3 run margins. Any help. Should I move up to All-Star or just tweak the sliders and stay on Pro.
mrtuck73
I would recommend that you move to All-Star and tweak the sliders. I had the same issues you have, in that you win basically every game (I was 15-1) in a dynasty on Pro, but now on All-Star with the sliders adjusted a little I am 35-16 (still winning more than I should as Texas!). When it somes to teaking the sliders for realism, you may want to bump up both user and cpu contanct and power. Also move the foul frequency way up (in the +30 range) baseball has many more fouls than the default setting. I'm actually thinking about the MVP diff and have played a few games and even won some but most MVP level games for me have been 1 or 2 run margins. Hope this helps! nittanylionfan3
Yes it does. I am 52-3 with the Braves. Should have changed sooner.
mflv
It's the balance between boredom and frustration. If you win too easily too often, it's boring. If you can't get a run to save your life, it's frustrating. I was frustrated at All Star level and tweaked the sliders. Then I went to Pro and tweaked the sliders. Then after making some batting changes went back to All Star and tweaked the sliders. Now I'm winning slightly more than I'm losing but just about every game is up for grabs and many go extra innings, with an occasional blow out sometimes in my favor and sometimes against me. That's what Spring Training's all about. Get the game set the way you like it and then start your Dynasty.
ntdgg711
I think it's also important to remember that the team you're playing with makes a huge difference. Since I've had the game, I've played over 50 games on ALL-STAR level with the Royals and haven't been able to score runs at all, even though my pitching was decent. Just recently I've decided to try a dynasty with the Cardinals to see how that changes things. I'm hitting a TON better, because the batters on the Cards are obviously a lot better. Man, there are SO many reasons it sucks to be a Royals fan - SO many. I don't want to play MVP '05 with any other team but the Royals, seeing that I bleed Royal Blue. BUT, I can't hit or win with them and I WANT to win dangit! What's a guy to do?
Gantners Kid
ntdgg, this may be considered sacreligous (sp?) on this site, but if you want to play with the Royals, but admit that many of their hitters suck, use some roster editing tool and bump up their abilities. No it's not the most realistic thing to do, but if your goal with the game is to have fun playing with the Royals, the why not.
nittanylionfan3
Or you could play with the Royals do a fantasy draft or just trade players in order to get a bunch of players that can hit. Or if you're payroll is not enough to get them just pick up a few of them. Mess around with it. FInd the best way to do it.
ntdgg711
gantner - you know, i've actually thought about that, but the whole realism thing does bother me a bit. However, now that you mention it, I'm starting to think that a lot of the Royals' players abilities in the game probably aren't that accurate anyway considering most of them are so young and unknown. Heck, following them as cloesly as I do, I probably can give a better assessment of their true abilities, so maybe that's what I should do...just go ahead and bump some of them up a bit. I think I will keep practicing my hitting with the Cards until the new official rosters come out after the season starts, and THEN I'll go back to the Royals and make any adjustments I need to to their abilities. In the meantime though, I can set the game up the way I want it on All-Star so I can get a pretty "realistic" play. Hey thanks Gantner for your input...you got me thinking of some good ideas here. Filthy57
I play on Pro, and can pitch pretty well, but usually only end up winning by a run or two because of my lack of hitting.
