Interesting question here: for the progression mod thingy, does pitcher improve hitting if they attend spring training with a NL team rather than a AL team?

Thanks for the great job.

I was wondering if I install version 3, will there be any need to re-do cyverface numbers all over again.

I think some of the guys have come up with faces for certain places by replacing some generic ones. As such does it mean that we will have to go back to MVPedit and change the numbers again?

Or does the file take the cyberfaces from an edited atrib.dat file?

Just curious!

I had asked a simlar question on another thread...they said anyone new that has a new face or was created will need to have the ID number put back in with MVPEDIT for the face and the Photo.

v3 is now up on my Web site, RosterDevelopmentgroup.com

VERSION 3 Revisions:

__ Complete major league edits. For hitters, this means split adjusted contact/power ratings, as well as revised patience ratings and altered range/arm strength & accuracy ratings based on Ultimate Zone Rating statistics. For pitchers, this means adjusted pitch types, stamina, movement and control ratings, as well as accurate velocities based on scouting reports.

__ Hidden chase/take/miss ratings have been adjusted to create the best played game experience possible. Patient hitters will be more patient, overanxious hitters will still swing too much.

__ Ratings have been balanced to provide the most realistic combined sim/played game results you can get. You can actually walk guys pitching now (because guys will actually take pitches), and actually draw walks as well (a novel idea).

__ Every major leaguer has a red hot zone in the dead center. This is designed to give even guys with little power a chance to jack one in a game if you groove it, and also designed to force players to pitch to the corners more, cutting the margin for error when it comes to control. This should impact walks to a degree if it has the desired effect.

__ I have included a revised Progress.big file. This is Bill Harris' outstanding progression mod with real-life park factors included as of this season's results so far. This should help both sim results and played games. Shea will play like a pitchers park, Minute Maid Park like a hitters park.

__ Many batting stance and equipment adjustments have been made, based on reports from users. Some body type fixes as well (such as Kaz Matsui).

__ More altered pitch descriptions to make pitches move/break the right way.

__ Deleted extra "A. Player" guys from F.A. pool (they were there due to an MVPEdit glitch).

Enjoy!

Perhaps some of these ratings are too high? I was looking at the Jays, and perhaps Hudson does make good contact withthe ball and deserves 100 catact, Josh Phelps is just ... shouldn't be consider a hitter at all.

O btw, one of Vernon Well's hot spot should be in the top left corner, especially against a lefty.

some are too low, Larkin a career .295 hitter who is hitting .300 this season has a 37 contact vs left and a 55 contact VS right

btw When loaded in mvpedit if you run the error checker is shows 100 errors

you're free to change ratings you disagree with. I suggest though not looking at the ratings but actually playing the games.

The error checker is wrong as you could see by actually using the set in the game. It's saying lineup errors when there aren't.

I'm having an issue where all of the free agents want a contract of 0 years... and won't take anything else! If I sign them to a 0 yr contract and try to negotiate a new one, they still are looking for a 0 yr deal. Anyone else have this problem?

On Larkin, NOBODY thought he would hit .300 this year (and most still don't)...as of today's date, with those ratings, he's hitting .266 in my season. Baseball Prospectus pegged him at .247 before the year started. I'll be stunned if he hits .300.

As for Hudson, did you notice his 31 contact vs lefties? The high contact with low power cancels out a bit. Again, as of today's date in my season, he's hitting a robust .204.

Play the games, then judge.

I have that problem with 1 year guys too. Delgado wants a 0 year contract as does Catolanato and they won't sign for a longer contracts :?

I think the issue might be related to the Progress.big file, because when I opened a previous SAV file, I had the same problem, so I swapped out the Progress.big file with the old one and it seemed to have solved the problem.

This is the error that keeps coming up:

The Knights (AAA) do not 5 pitchers and a closer. Do you want the CPU to optimize rosters?

But all you have to do is look at their pitching rotation and you'll see 5 guys...? It then will let you get out of the RM menu.

What's going on...?

This is on the default roster BTW, not the noDL one...

yes, I'll fix the progress file tonight. Use Bill's v2 until I can get it done. The only thing I adjusted for it was park factors. Everything else was Bill's anyway.

I have sent a revised progress.big file to be uploaded. I fixed it at work, so hopefully it works. If not, let me know and I'll take care of it when I get home. Basically, the park factors didn't have commas separating them so the whole file was read incorrectly.

Again, this file is BillHarris' progression mod with just the park factors adjusted to reflect real life. It's not essential to run TotalMinors, just something I wanted to put together.
