Jitter
I have played about 50 games total A, AA, AAA and MLB. In those 50 games I am about 1 for 25 in steal attempts. On my major league team I only have 3 players under 85 speed, and 3 guys w/ 90+ speed and 80+ stealing aggressiveness and 80+ baerunning. I take as big as lead as the game allows and still am gettng thrown on even on changeups and crve balls. Cant figre out what im doing wrong? On some fielding plays where it seems like I have a playing either reaching over the fence or climbing the wall when i hit up, my guy more often than not dives. I dont know if im not hitting the analog stick right or maybe my guy doesnt really have a play on the ball?
rolliefingers08
have you tried pressing the 2B button at different times? unlike in 04, if you time it right he gets a better jump, instead of just pushing it and waiting for it to go.
Pirate
I stole 2nd four times yesterday, I steal at about at 60% success percentage.
wilmer007
Adjust the baserunning sliders and you'll steal bases easier.
Jitter
no i didnt try "timing the steal" was just doing what i did last year. I will def give that a try though.

Intersting Rollie. I had kind of noticed the same thing when I was working on my steal sliders in situational mode, but didn't follow up with it in an actual game. Anyone else notice this as well? You are supposed to hit the analog button "inward". (like you do the face buttons when you want to throw the ball etc...)

I just went into situational mode and did a test with this... albeit a limited one: Runner: Matt Lawton - 80 speed - 75 baserunning ability Catcher: Y Molina - 90 Throwing Strength - 75 accuracy Pushing towards 2nd early: 5 steals... 5 caught stealing Timing my jumps to 2nd manually with the pitcher movement: 5 steals... 5 caught stealing Doesn't seem to be any difference. Jitter
"You are supposed to hit the analog button "inward". (like you do the face buttons when you want to throw the ball etc...)" What do you mean by this....The manual says dive/stretch is right analog left or right, sliding catch is right analog down, and climb/jump says right analog up. Do you mean inward as in pressing down on top of the button (i.e bunt swing)? I havent tried that, but I am having problems w/ bunting anyways. I use a PSX to USB adapter, and the controller config in MVP recognizes when i push down on the analog sticks, but for some reason in the game I cant bunt by pushing my right analog button? Jitter
Well i got my controller issue sorted out anyways.....I opened up my controller.cfg and it had my left/right top and buttoms backwards, along w/ my left and right analog buttons. Even though the game controller config was showing the proper buttons somethings didnt work unless I had them assigned to a specific button. For example the #5 pitch didnt work before unless i assigned it to an awkward spot, along w/ the bunting. Now at least I can set up the controller how i like

If not, you deduced correctly in your other post what I was saying, you press it inward like when you bunt. At least that's what I do. though I also discovered that pressing up & in at the same time get's the best response.
Jitter
well what i discovered as i stated in my other post was the right analog was not mapped correctly (at least according to the manual and in game screens). Up is supposed to be a head first slide, down is supposed to be a pop up slide etc etc.........This was not working on my controller right, and it doesnt seem like its working on yours either. The best way to test it out is using slides. I went in a game and set it up for 2 players one keyboard and the other my gamepad and pitched to myself and just ran around the bases sliding. If you push your right analog left, and your guy does like a bellyflop slide (str8 ahead) then your right analog axis' is missmapped and you need to switch around axis 3 and 4. I do not have to hit the "bunt" button for fielding at all I am not sure why you need to do that?
big shmooz
Well, I remapped my buttons to configure it to the way I was used to from last years game. However my button to slide feet first is done by pressing downward on my analog stick & up will slide head first. I was like that always & it works properly. I press the button inward however to jump at the wall & it seems to work when I do this. Let me post my configuration file for you so you can compare it with your own. profile= Saitek_Cyborg_Force_Rumble_Pad device= Saitek_Cyborg_Force_Rumble_Pad player= 0 number_of_buttons= 12 number_of_povs= 1 number_of_axis= 4 VPAD_VIRTUAL_BUTTON_START= button 11 VPAD_VIRTUAL_BUTTON_SELECT= not_assigned -1 VPAD_VIRTUAL_BUTTON_CROSS= button 3 VPAD_VIRTUAL_BUTTON_CIRCLE= button 4 VPAD_VIRTUAL_BUTTON_SQUARE= button 1 VPAD_VIRTUAL_BUTTON_TRIANGLE= button 2 VPAD_VIRTUAL_BUTTON_L1= button 7 VPAD_VIRTUAL_BUTTON_R1= button 8 VPAD_VIRTUAL_BUTTON_L2= button 5 VPAD_VIRTUAL_BUTTON_R2= button 6 VPAD_VIRTUAL_BUTTON_L3= button 9 VPAD_VIRTUAL_BUTTON_R3= button 10 VPAD_VIRTUAL_BUTTON_DPAD_UP= pov0 1 VPAD_VIRTUAL_BUTTON_DPAD_DOWN= pov180 1 VPAD_VIRTUAL_BUTTON_DPAD_LEFT= pov270 1 VPAD_VIRTUAL_BUTTON_DPAD_RIGHT= pov90 1 VPAD_VIRTUAL_BUTTON_L_STICK_RIGHT= axis- 1 VPAD_VIRTUAL_BUTTON_L_STICK_LEFT= axis+ 1 VPAD_VIRTUAL_BUTTON_L_STICK_UP= axis+ 2 VPAD_VIRTUAL_BUTTON_L_STICK_DOWN= axis- 2 VPAD_VIRTUAL_BUTTON_R_STICK_RIGHT= axis- 4 VPAD_VIRTUAL_BUTTON_R_STICK_LEFT= axis+ 4 VPAD_VIRTUAL_BUTTON_R_STICK_UP= axis+ 3 VPAD_VIRTUAL_BUTTON_R_STICK_DOWN= axis- 3 VPAD_PITCH_1= button 3 VPAD_PITCH_2= button 4 VPAD_PITCH_3= button 1 VPAD_PITCH_4= button 2 VPAD_PITCH_5= button 8 VPAD_FIELD_PICK_OFF_THROW_FIRST= button 4 VPAD_FIELD_PICK_OFF_THROW_SECOND= button 2 VPAD_FIELD_PICK_OFF_THROW_THIRD= button 1 VPAD_PITCH_OUT= button 3 VPAD_THROW_BALL= button 7 VPAD_INTENTIONAL_WALK= not_assigned -1 VPAD_INTENTIONAL_HITBATTER= button 9 VPAD_PITCH_HISTORY_OPEN= button 12 VPAD_SWING_NORMAL= button 3 VPAD_SWING_BUNT= button 10 VPAD_CHARGE_MOUND= button 2 VPAD_FIELD_THROW_FIRST= button 4 VPAD_FIELD_THROW_SECOND= button 2 VPAD_FIELD_THROW_THIRD= button 1 VPAD_FIELD_THROW_HOME= button 3 VPAD_FIELD_SWITCH= button 6 VPAD_FIELD_RELAY_THROW= button 7 VPAD_FIELD_CUTOFF_THROW= button 8 VPAD_FIELD_FAKE_RUNDOWN_THROW= button 10 VPAD_RUNNER_FIRST_SELECT= button 4 VPAD_RUNNER_SECOND_SELECT= button 2 VPAD_RUNNER_THIRD_SELECT= button 1 VPAD_RUNNER_RUNFIRST= pov90 1 VPAD_RUNNER_RUNSECOND= pov0 1 VPAD_RUNNER_RUNTHIRD= pov270 1 VPAD_RUNNER_RUNHOME2SCORE= pov180 1 VPAD_BASERUNNER_ADVANCEALL= button 8 VPAD_BASERUNNER_RETREATALL= button

Hilltopper3339
Jitter and big shmooze, where do you configure files like that? Where do I find it? I have a Saitek P2500 Rumble, and my slie configuration is messud up.
Jitter
its in "my documents/mvp baseball 2005" you need to open the controller.cfg file w/ notepad. Then you need to match the "VPAD_VIRTUAL" buttons to the button numbers of your controller according to the gamepad properties in your windows control panel. If your sliding is messed up try changing the 4's to 3's and 3's to 4's in these 4 lines. VPAD_VIRTUAL_BUTTON_R_STICK_RIGHT= axis- 4 VPAD_VIRTUAL_BUTTON_R_STICK_LEFT= axis+ 4 VPAD_VIRTUAL_BUTTON_R_STICK_UP= axis+ 3 VPAD_VIRTUAL_BUTTON_R_STICK_DOWN= axis-
Hilltopper3339
Thnkas Jitter, that helped. You mentioned climbing the wall; everytime I try to rub a homerun I get a gimpy little jump, but I see the CPU actually climbing the wall. How do you CLIMB the wall? Jitter
I am not 100% positive. Maybe try hitting the right analog btton like suggested in this thread. I have climbed the wall before, but not sure how i did it. I think it has to do w/ how your guy is facing/positioned when you hit up. I think maybe you need to be facing the wall, instead of having your back to it. I'll see if i can figure it out exactly.
