Renegade44
alright most of you have my shea mod and most of you realy like it. Obviously its not possible for me to give as much effort to the remaining 29 stadiums in this game and finish them all before mvp 2007 is released. Im reading through the forums and everyone seems to have the same notion of they wish someone would do their stadium as i have done to shea. This is possible. All it takes is for you to ppost your yahoo messenger name on this thread and I will message you and coach you on using OEDIT and everything else that goes along with "supermodding" stadiums. I will also answer questions if thats all you need. I WANT TO SHARE the modding knowledge that was passed along to me. all you have to do is ask. and just so you know once I coach you for a little while you will be able to do pretty much anything you want to your stadium. so if your aiting for someone to mod the stadium you use. dont. get with me and we can really start releasing high quality stadiums that everyone can enjoy. If I get alot of ppl that im helping out, and alot of stadiums are getting knocked out, ill prob go ahead and take on another stadium so all 30 eventually get done. This is up to everyone so lets get it on!

rspencer86
I would be VERY interested in getting some instruction on how to mod a stadium, from the very basics all the way up to the OEdit stuff. I haven't modded anything before, so I would need to start from step 1. I am dreaming of working on an epic Kauffman Stadium mod... wouldn't that be nice! If you are willing to help me out, that would be great. You can PM me with the details. Thanks, Ryan
Dodger_Fan
I am like rspencer. I am interested in possibly working on a stadium, but have not done any modding before. Would you be able to e-mail me or PM me any information you can give? Thanks,
jamcadbury
Hey Renegade, if you type up a fat explanation for anyone else send it my way via PM as well too. I tried my hand at OEdit for Arlington, it didn't go so well. Actually, what would be the best would be a video tutorial...using a free capturing program like CamStudio where you could show things step by step possibly easier than it could be to explain it. I was actually able to get the file into OEdit, but after that I got stuck big-time. Just a couple thoughts, I'd love to add a few things to Arlington. jamcadbury
Here's some of the convo between me and ezorn, maybe it'll help you guys out a bit. It's started from the point where you open the .o file into OEdit. EZorn33: so now you can open that in OEdit jamcadburyBBSC: alright i just loaded it into oedit jamcadburyBBSC: now this is where things stopped for me jamcadburyBBSC: i'm guessing i should extract the 32 bit ad file from arlington EZorn33: sure jamcadburyBBSC: the .bmp EZorn33: (isn't it already extracted somewhere?) jamcadburyBBSC: yeah but i've got them as 24 bit+8 bit transparency since i've been tinkering with that seperately...don't know if it makes a difference EZorn33: oh, right EZorn33: well, it doesn't make much difference in terms of OEdit jamcadburyBBSC: alright, it's extracted jamcadburyBBSC: where to from here? EZorn33: ok EZorn33: make a backup of the .o file jamcadburyBBSC: done EZorn33: then, in OEdit, click View --> Parts --> Show All Parts jamcadburyBBSC: whoa, i never got that far EZorn33: you won't want to work with all parts open, but this will show you the stadium EZorn33: it slows down CONSIDERABLY with all parts open jamcadburyBBSC: lol EZorn33: now, scroll through the parts -- you'll see various vertices appear on the grid EZorn33: right? EZorn33: each part uses only one bitmap and controls certain vertices jamcadburyBBSC: you mean the blue highlighting EZorn33: yep jamcadburyBBSC: yeah EZorn33: if you zoom in, you'll see that they're vertices EZorn33: to zoom in on the front, side, or top views, click on them and then press control-w EZorn33: control-q zooms out EZorn33: to move around, hold control, then click and drag (so it's like you're grabbing the piece of paper and pulling it around) EZorn33: again, this will be slow with all the parts open EZorn33: you probably don't want to work with the parts open jamcadburyBBSC: gotcha EZorn33: but for now, it'll give you an idea of where you are EZorn33: okay, each vertex matches up to a vertex on a bitmap (i'll show you this in a bit) -- in OEdit, you can move the vertices around in the stadium model AND in the bitmaps EZorn33: press control-R EZorn33: then click Load EZorn33: then select one of the bitmaps (the one with the ads, for instance) jamcadburyBBSC: i'm there EZorn33: click okay EZorn33: then press control-T EZorn33: this is the UV Map Editor EZorn33: this is where you move the textures around in the bitmaps EZorn33: whatever bitmap you loaded will appear for every part -- but keep in mind that, in the game, it will still load whichever bitmap it's programmed to load EZorn33: scroll through the parts until you find one that uses the ads (in the UV editor, you'll see that the vertices appear in rectangles around some of the ads) EZorn33: still with me? jamcadburyBBSC: i think so EZorn33: have you found a part that uses the ads texture? jamcadburyBBSC: looking right now EZorn33: k jamcadburyBBSC: but you're right it is damn slow EZorn33: yeah EZorn33: you can hide all parts now EZorn33: you don't need them all EZorn33: that'll speed it up considerably jamcadburyBBSC: found one EZorn33: cool EZorn33: okay, now here are the action you can take with the vertex EZorn33: see those six buttons on the right? jamcadburyBBSC: yes EZorn33: those are the actions... EZorn33: c'n'm = click 'n' move EZorn33: this is really a combination of "select" and "move" -- we'll come back to it EZorn33: if the Select button is depressed, clicking on a vertex will select it...once it's selected, it will turn red EZorn33: you can click another to select that too EZorn33: you can also click and drag...that'll select all vertices within a rectangle (you'll see) EZorn33: shift-click will UNSELECT a vertex/vertices...this will be VERY useful EZorn33: if 'Move' is depressed, you can click on the grid and drag selected vertices around jamcadburyBBSC: gotcha EZorn33: now, see the horizontal/vertical buttons? jamcadburyBBSC: yeah EZorn33: if they're both depressed, you can drag the vertices around in both dimensions EZorn33: if only the horizontal is depressed, you'll only be able to drag them horizontally EZorn33: and vice versa with vertical EZorn33: this is VERY useful if you want to keep things straight or on the same plane EZorn33: i never found much use for the "scale" button EZorn33: "rotate", obviously, rotates selected vertices. EZorn33: this isn't nearly as useful as "move" EZorn33: "auto" basically assumes what you want to do -- i found it confusing, so i didnt use it EZorn33: "c'n'm" allows you to click on a vertex and drag it elsewhere (basically combining select/move EZorn33: shortcuts: press 1 to depress "c'n'm", 2 to depress "select", 3 to depress "move," and so on -- i found these shortcuts very useful, but i'm big on doing things quickly jamcadburyBBSC: gotcha EZorn33: those are the basics EZorn33: oh, control-F makes a vew full-screen EZorn33: the controls for perspective are a bit different...left-click/drag will rotate the images, while right-click/drag will zoom in/out EZorn33: control + left-click/drag will move the image around EZorn33: again, that's only in the perspective view jamcadburyBBSC: ok EZorn33: so there you go -- if you want to insert an ad, you'll need to somehow create extra vertices EZorn33: i have to get going now, but play around with it, and email me if you need more help -- i'll be available via PM tomorrow while i'm at work (don't tell my bosses) jamcadburyBBSC: alright, i appreciate it a ton jamcadburyBBSC: that's about 100 times further than i would have ever gotten on my own EZorn33: yeah, i wouldn't have gotten that far if i hadn't ofund a help file online jamcadburyBBSC: lol EZorn33: but just play around with it EZorn33: you'll get the hang of it
rspencer86
Thanks guys for the help. I think that making assistance and tutorials available to everyone will further encourage those who want to mod a stadium but really haven't had the know-how to do so in the past. With your help, we should be getting some more high-quality stadiums that everyone will benefit from! :D
