pbeyer
When importing the DAT files to MVP edit, get this message after I choose the folder MVP Baseball 2005/data/database folder that contains the necessary files: Run-time error '3163' The field is too small to accept the amount of data you attempted to add. Try inserting or pasting less data. What should I do? I can proceed in the program until these are imported and it wont let me.

TontonFranck
all... I think it's not a roster's problem... Error 3061 always...
toymenater
Run-time error '3163' unfortunately, as nice of an app MVP Edit is, it suffers from poor exception handling. basically, if an unhandled exception occurs, the app crashes. an all-too-common hallmark of VB programs. I have suggested to the author about making MVP Edit open source so some of the bugs can be fixed. no word if he's decided on going that route or not. rom3
I am getting this Runtime error 3161 message when trying to import the DAT files for the new Ultimate Rosters 6. I am able to import the DAT files for other rosters, just not the DAT files for Ultimate Rosters 6. I have MVPEdit 2006.2 installed. I have also tried reinstalling twice and no luck. Anybody having the same problem with the UR 6? Any suggestions on how to fix this problem? :(
jaywil
Yes, I am having the same prolem with Ultimate Rosters 6 plus. I am also using MVP Edit 2006.2. Any help out there? Like rom3, I can open other rosters and I have been able to open my saved games using Ultimate Rosters 6 plus with MVP SavReader, game plays fine, it just appears it won't let me import the dat file. Totte
Ignore the .dat-files and just open the .mbe-file with MVPedit. You get the error because you're trying to import the .dat-files.

Filthy57
You don't need the .mbe in your MVPEdit directory, you just need to open the .mbe rather than import the .dat files, like Totte said. The .mbe is in with the roster. Just open that, edit it, and export.
big shmooz
You don't need the .mbe in your MVPEdit directory, you just need to open the .mbe rather than import the .dat files, like Totte said. The .mbe is in with the roster. Just open that, edit it, and export. What you wrote can potentially be very confusing to people. In fact you do need the .mbe file in your mvpedit folder. However the issue seems to be occuring when one is trying to make a .mbe file out of the imported .dat files. Therefore one SHOULD PUT the .mbe file that comes with the ultimate roster download INTO the mvpedit folder. Then open up mvpedit & export the roster to the database folder. P.S. I know you meant to say this, but the post is not all that clear & could make people think you do not have to put the .mbe file at all into mvpedit (which is not the case). Hence I mainly posted this to clarify that which you were trying to convey. P.P.S. I know that technically you can open the .mbe file from any location, but since the default location that mvpedit opens to in order to read a .mbe file is the mvpedit folder, it is advisable to just put the .mbe file in the mvpedit folder. MalibuKiller
when you download ultimate roster there will be a ".mbl" that you can use
Fastflink2009
Opening the mbe it still says, file not found! WTF
Gordo
My problem has seemed to come with MVPEdit and the All-Timers mbe file (ver. 1.5). Once again MVPEdit did not install all that smoothly with this DAO crap and then asking where to find some DAO file in the temporary folder area......very confusing to moderate cpu level user like me. But, even though you keep canceling the installation, it seemed to install it anyway and it can run, import mbe files, etc. I imported the All-Timers mbe file (after placing it in the MVPedit folder) and could see the appropriate teams. I exported (overwrote) the proper .dat files in a fairly fresh install of the game (though it had already been patched with #3). It kept crashing to desktop JUST PRIOR to going into the actual game (on the loading bar filling up). I thought maybe it was the models.big file so I replaced it with the TC5 models.big file but no difference. I did notice that many portraits were not visible that you would think should be (e.g. Pete Rose). Any ideas? Should I not have patched first? (btw, the only other mod I have in there is the grass changer) Addendum: I wonder if I should wipe out my registry key? Maybe that's causing a conflict because I renamed my main folder to "All Timers 1.5".
