You can try and set it in your video card settings (which I tried). But using FRAPS I could see that no matter what my refresh rate was set to the frame rate was locked at 85 (way too fast for the game). So by doing this I manually set the limit to 65 and the game plays butter smooth now. Just try this and you'll see that it works.

No dice. I set over ride to 65 and its still too fast.

with me the game runs too fast at 1024x768 and too slow at 1200x1024. It was running insanely fats until I enabled vsync then I thought it was fine until I played and I was late on everything pitches and batting, the game was running too fast, then I went to 1200x1024 and the game was too easy and a 95mph fast ball was easy to hit. just tried 1024x768 with 2 x AA and 4 x that other thing and still it's running too fast. what have they done for this to be happening? anyone got any ideas?

loving the smooth gameplay though!!

Does anyone know where this patch came from? is it from EA? And why isnt it "official"? Doesnt seem like it is ready to be used yet....Alot of people having issues with the speed like me....Then when you play IP games it is stuck on PRO difficulty....and then you cant even get on EASO.

Yeah, I have the same question.

Try turning AA and AF once and try again and report back. Once I turned on V-Sync and turned off AA and AF it was smooth as silk.

No matter what its still fast. In some setups I've used it has slowed a bit but the "fast forward" thing is still present no matter what.

I had the same issues with speed as you guys.....I had the ATI omega drivers and uninstalled them...then i installed the ATI drivers that came with the vid card and the game runs perfect now. Im not saying its the omega drivers, maybe try re -installing your drivers.

I think the reason people are speculating that this might not be the 'official patch' is that it's not really available through the normal channels. It's not available by clicking on thier website, in the MVP 2005 page, or in "Downloads" on thier site. It's available through thier FTP portal...it may be that they put it there and notified some staff and some testers to get it and try it out, someone found out and leaked it and now zillions of us have it...Also, the fact that it didn't come with a readme to explain the fixes makes me believe that it's not an official release either.

I suppose we should wait and see what happens.

I'm happy for now as it's smoothed out the game completely for me, and I don't play on-line anyways.

I'm still very sceptical about downloading this patch. Sure I'd like to have smooth gameplay, but if it runs too fast then I'll have a whole other problem to deal with. It was much work as it is to finally make the game LOOK good.

Anyone with a Geforce4 420 MX been able to work with this patch?

1) It may be up in their FTP for internal testing.

2) I'm sure the patch not only fixes the stuttering issue but that it also deals with some other stuff.

3) Due to #2, maybe they need to 'update' the servers on their side of things.

4) Don't you think that WE ALL just did jump a little too early at this patch without knowing for sure if it was the final, official version of it? maybe it isn't so much of EA's fault but instead, our hunger for a new patch :mrgreen: that blinded us a bit.

I got a GeForce4 440 MX and I used the patch and everything seems to be working Great

peopel say you need to have the original roster back in the data/datanase for the patch to work.

but i have a updated roster i downloaded in the data/database and i patch #2 and it said it was successful.

so it looks like you dont need to put the original roster back when you patch.

Just experimented with FRAPS on:

Video Card = Radeon 9600 XT

AF=6

AA=4

Refresh=85

Res=1280*960

VSync on in game and on the Video Card

Results = Game still runs fast. FPS anywhere from 45-65 in the INF (not bad). Ball gets to an outfielder and it goes up into the 80's...fast forward stuff occurring until it gets back to the infield.

Tried it with same settings as above except Res = 1024*768

Results = FPS shoot up over 100 when ball gets to OF.

Simple conclusions...the more stress you put on your card the less "fast forward" speed you get. No matter what setting I use I still get at least some cumbersome fast forward speed.

Doby, you can't get 100FPS with Vsync on and refresh rate of 85Hz...it must still be off.

looks like we've just done a whole lot of beta testing for EASports!! There are obviously issues that still need fixing but when it gets sorted this game will be the best ever!!
