nojoke
When I go to the ea site, or use the link provided here, I can't get the patch to download. I say OK to the box that pops up with EA's legal mumbo jumbo and a small, narrow window opens when I agree to download. But then nothing else happens. No files appear in the box, and my computer keeps working but nothing happens. Is the patch applying itself without my opening any files? That doesn't make sense. Could someone PM me the files or suggest some other way to get the patch. Thanks. Joe
Vieux_Renard
Don't search so far. Just look beside of you
nojoke
I'm not sure what that meant, but I figured it meant look around here. I found a version in the download section I could get to download, but I must be retarded. When I hit open on the patch is just opens up some jibberish in notepad. When I hit save, it downloaded and nothing happened. Shouldn't I need to run it or paste it somewhere? Sorry for the (probably) silly questions. Vieux_Renard
http://www.mvpmods.com/modules.php?name=Do...amp;lid=1475#dl http://www.mvpmods.com/modules.php?name=Do...amp;lid=1197#dl just download the 2 files then dezip them.
nojoke
I guess my problem is that it is not downloading as a zipped file. It is downloading as a note pad file. I know I'm doing something wrong. Hey, Vieux, thanks for your help.
Vieux_Renard
even if you right click and save target as.... ???
MarkB
It's not downloading as a Notepad file, your PC is set to open it as a Notepad file. When you are asked to Open or Save it, click Save. Find your desktop, then click Save. Wait 1 minute. Go to your desktop and you should see a file with the MVP Baseball 2005 icon. Double-click it. That will start the patch running. nojoke
alright tried that. It did download in a zip file. THen, I should just unzip it into the database folder, right? Thanks again.
MarkB
Unzip it to your desktop. I got an .exe, not a .zip, but I assume EA have packaged a readme.txt with the official release.
nojoke
Still not working. When I unzipped it, I only got one file a .rar file. No read me. If I double click on that, it goes to note pad. No program runs. If I copy it to the database file, it makes no difference. I had no problem installing the first patch, so this is weird. Thanks guys for helping me battle my computer illiteracy. MarkB
A .rar file? That's weird. Delete the files you just downloaded that are on your desktop. Download this file, save it to the desktop. When it downloads, double-click it.
nojoke
I got it to download. I needed to download winace to extract the rar file. No more stuttering and no fast forwarding in the outfield (at least not yet). One more question: The patch applied without my having to restore the default rosters. Same with patch 1. I had read that others could not apply the patch without restoring the default database. I didn't have to. Is that a problem? Hey guys, thanks for your help. Everyone's willingness to patiently help the computer illiterate such as myself is a testament to this great site. Thanks again, Joe
bigbully
that is no problem nojoke. Those that had to restore the default database folder has modified rosters (available here).
CCH3900
all u had to do was extract it with winrar or winace and the patch, glad to see u got it though
MarkB
I don't see why there was a .rar file in tgere, but as long as it works now. Nojoke, the default rosters only have to be applied if you were using custom rosters. :)
nojoke
I was using modified rosters. That's why I thought it was weird.
spitoon
I was using modified rosters. That's why I thought it was weird. It depends on what the modified rosters 'modded'. Some of them didn't effect the files that the patch looked at, some of them did. It's as simple as that.
