The key was to move AF but NOT the AA(leave AA at default) SO enjoyable now.

drovebykeptgoing1
Thats great,I agree it is alot more enjoyable. Just a small performance hit on fps. but it does solve the problem. Antroscopic Filtering is the key, Antialaising will improve image quality but at a price on performance, just depends on the vid card.

spitoon
how do you tweek the AF? It'll be in your video card control panel. What vid card do you have? I think on most 'integrated' video, you can't adjust it.
raindelay7
how do you tweek the AF? go to start button...control panel..appearance and themes.....display..settings...advanced...then click on the tab for your video card which should have sliders for AF and AA under something like "performance settings"... it seems that not all video cards have this feature and if your card is older it might not have a special tab for your video card at all...gl btw if this does not work for you remember that the one proven method for getting rid of shimmer is the idea originated by paulw to replace the grass texture in the "detl" file with a simplified grass texture...there are at least a few stadiums in the download section now using his method - including mine for fenway

Yammer
HOLY ****!!! What a huge Difference this makes for me and my shitty 900MHz machine. Someone should give the guy who figured this out a cookie or two.
mastasports1
HOLY [naughty word]!!! What a huge Difference this makes for me and my shitty 900MHz machine. Someone should give the guy who figured this out a cookie or two. It was circulated heavily over both BBSC and here, but I don't know who came up with the idea in the first place. samoggi
Just for another fact on this topic, I started testing different AA and AF positions while I was in the game.(exiting back to desktop durring the game). Bad experience,(no changes took effect) always reboot the game when testing and changing AA and AF settings. The game needs to reboot in order for the changes to take effect. Just thought this might help out.......
mflv
I have looked all over the place for any setting like AA or AF and I have not found anything like that. Is it called by any other name by any chance? I have a Radeon 9600SX card. Please somebody tell me exactly where to look and what to change and to what. Are AA or AF known by any other designation? Is that Hardware Acceleration? Please help. I've seen these posts and have tried a couple of times to go searching for these settings. Thanks. mflv
I don't seem to have any of the advanced ATI settings tabs when I look in the Display settings despite the fact that I have a Radeon 9600 SE and have installed all the software. Is there somewhere to download that utility so I can get the advanced tabs so I can set the AF so I can stop the shimmering? I'd love to be able to enjoy this game and throw away my bottle of aspirin. Thanks.
pstrickert
Do a Google search for Radlinker. I highly recommend it.

If you click on the "settings" tab in your display properties you do not have a button in there towards the lower right hand corner called "advanced"? If you do not, then you are the first person I know that does not have such a button. If you do, then you need to click it & then go to the tab that has the name of your graphics card. In there you will find the controls for the anti aliasing & anistropic filtering.
