Can mods be combined?

For example: I'd like to use KSMs gameplay mod with Spitoons walk mod, but I can only find Spitoons with a bunch of other stuff like camera changes and getting rid of batter walkup, etc., and I don't want that.

I just want the walks and the gameplay change.

Interestingly, I had the same question today. I decided that I no longer want to rely on others to do my mods for me and started modding the datafile myself. It is great! It really is not that hard. You need to get the MVP compression tool from the download area at this site. Then, download a program called Compare It. Once you decompress the datafiles containing the parts that you like, compare them and you can see where they differ. By cutting and splicing, you can combine the datafiles no problem and in minutes. I now have the KSM behind the pitcher cam and low batting, but Trues fielding cam with Spitoon's hard pitch meeter. If you would like a copy of my datafile, let me know and I will email it to you.

That's basically why I stopped releasing any more datafiles. There just became too many options.

First I released my standard walk mod. Then someone wanted it with Trues batting cam mod. Then someone wanted it with Pareds pitching cam mod. Then with Trues 'no batter walkup'. Then with my outfielder depth mod. Then with my infielder depth mod.

I just couldn't keep up with the requests, and the number of different combinations is now mind boggling. Horsepower has it figured, just do your own. It's not really that difficult. Get the utility that uncompresses and re-compresses and just dive in. The worst you will do is cause your game to crash, and if that happens just scrap it and start over.

I usually download all new datafiles and check them out to see what they have and incorporate it if I like it. My current datafile has parts from likely 10-12 other datafiles as well as some other stuff I've been messing with.

Compare it works really well as it shows two files side by side on your screen and highlights any differences. It allows you to copy and paste from one side to the other.

Using CompareIt, find these items:

<battingview6RightLow>

<battingview6RightHi>

<battingview6LeftLow>

<battingview6LeftHi>

Paste from KSM2.5 datafile to the one you are modding and select "Save".

That's it.

Alright, thanks. I'll try and make this work:P I'm not good with this type of stuff... not a logical enough thinker I guess. Having issues getting the decompresser to open up any datafiles. Anyways, thanks again.

Okay, I've got a datafile.big, but not datafile.txt... do I need to change that manually?

You need to extract the datafile.txt from datafile.big using EAGraph or BIGGui. Alternatively you could just download one of the existing datafile.txt's from this site and start your modding there.
