Front Page Sports '96 Music Mod

I've had the music turned off on MVP '05 since shortly after I got the game, and then started taking inspiration from DodgersFan's posting of classic baseball songs. In the music section of the downloads you can download songs actually dealing with baseball and import them for your menu music.

I started thinking about how much I loved Front Page Sports Baseball 1996, not only because it was a great game, but because it had great baseball music; Nostalgic music such as "Play by Play", "Talkin' Baseball", and "Right Field". Then I stated thinking, "I might have the game still laying around somewhere...."

I dug through my annual yard sale game box (which we put out every year for our yard sale), and GO FIGURE.... no one had bought it in all these years :D The music was very easy to locate on the disk and was in .wav format, so it was very easy to extract, convert, and install into MVP baseball. I was up until 4:00 AM last night just playing mini-games so that I could listen to the music :p

Anyway, if anyone's interested I can post instructions on how to do this. You'll need an FPS Baseball '96 CD, A music conversion program (wav to mp3 - many free ones available), and EA's ditter importer. I would post the songs myself, but am sure that there's some kind of copyright issue.

It brought even more enjoyment to an already sweet game!

I had thought about doing the same thing, and I did own FPSBB96 at one time...but I think I might have sold it, because all I can find is the 98 version.

That was a great soundtrack!

AcousticNut,

I think .wav format is acceptable to MVP 2005 for use with the ditter importer. I did the same thing with Oldtime Baseball but had to purchase an audio recorder to get it into .wav format. In that case I had to actually play the game to get the music recorded.

I have a few copies of Front Page Sports Baseball in the drawer and will pull them out as well to check out that music which I can't remember how it sounded. Can't recall what years of the game I have however.

If you are not profiting from the use of that music I do not believe there is any problem with using it or sharing it especially since the game itself is no longer marketed. We will be using some of the music from Oldtime Baseball in the upcoming versions of Total Classics.

I think what you have done is great and you should consider sharing it here.

Take Care,

Don

You're right Don, the Ditty Importer does accept .wav files. I just gave myself a little extra work in doing the conversion

I'll see what I can do about posting these for other's consumption. I had zipped everything up, but it's over the MVPMod's size limit (the file is 30MB, the limit is 19MB). I'll probably release it in two parts, but I need to decide exactly how I want to do that.

Thanks for the input.
