But they can still create the same game with all the features and stuff of 05 but they have to create stadiums and team names that aren't MLB. For instance they can do something like Boston Yankees and New York Red Sox, theres nothing against that. They might even be able to make stadiums called Fenway Stadium and Yankee Park But the stadiums have to be created from scratch and cannot look like Official MLB Stadiums. With players however they are allowed to use the players number for instance Barry Bonds they can just make a black dude with high batting attributes and just put #25 as his name and make him play LF. These things are perfectly legal because you have not violated the copyrights. But the big question is can modders rename the players to the real MLB Players and change the team names and stadiums and make it all Official MLB without getting sued. dansaint Posted April 10, 2005 Share Posted April 10, 2005 well...this is the last year for it in this format...I am sure there will be an MVP of somesort out next year...whether it be a college game, minor league, or a generic version of the majors with generic players. No dude, Take 2 is the one who made ESPN Major League Baseball 2K5 and now they are the only ones who can make Official MLB Games for a while, they went to MLB Officials and made a big offer for exclusive rights to MLB Games. Kinda like EA making an offer to NFL Officials and now they own exclusive NFL Games for the next 10-15 years. I believe Take 2 has a 10 year contract. Basically that means that for the next decade at least all there will be is Madden, NFL Street and ESPN Major League Baseball 2K. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
peerless Posted April 10, 2005 Share Posted April 10, 2005 There is not going to be just Major League Baseball 2K6 next year. The deal was to make Take 2 the only 3rd party company who can make baseball games with the licenses. First party companies like Sony, Nintendo, and Microsoft can still make baseball games using the licenses. This year it looks like MLB 2006 is a really good game from Sony so hopefully that will continue next year to give us an option. What sucks is they own the PC realm now too and they don't even make a PC version of a game. That better change next year or I'll never buy a Take Two Interactive game again. steroid Posted April 10, 2005 Share Posted April 10, 2005 If MVP makes a PC game next year and we are able to mod it with ads regardless of ficticious ballparks, and the ability to create your own ballpark from scratch and edit unis easier, hell! ! even to do everything by yourself with easy to use interfaces....I would buy it. I dont care if I have Victor Martinez or Barry Bonds ect. ect... in the game. I use myself anyways when I build a franchise. So I think it would be fun to see a jon dowd win the homerun title. They can use the time better to create things and work on things to improve this year without the official stuff. They couldnt use the official name of the awards, like gold glove or silver slugger, because those are MLB righted names. MVP's are universal in any sport and can be used in the game. Make award names editable. Like High Heat was. That was a good series till they left off the pitch curser and pissed me off. Everything in that game was editable.
