APR Posted April 12, 2005 Share Posted April 12, 2005 I just watched this on ESPN. It was one of the most moving programs that I have ever watched. For those of you who don't know who Shirley Povich was, he was arguably one of the greatest sports writers that ever lived. He was there when Lou Gehrig began his consecutive games streak, and was there when Cal Ripken Jr. broke it. Just want to know if anyone watched this great program. Yankee4Life Posted April 14, 2005 Share Posted April 14, 2005 I missed it! I would have loved to see that episode. That guy was a good writer. I read a lot of his archived stuff. People like him, Red Smith, Dick Young, Ring Lardner, etc were excellent writers. Those were the real sportswriters. Not the ones who cover Page 2 for ESPN these days.
