please help me hit!!!

I'm using the Twins in dynasty mode. It is April 17, and my team has a total of one home run so far this season, and that just barely made it over the left field corner wall next to the foul pole.

I know more HR's gotta be possible. The CPU hits them off of me all the time, usually as punishment for me having a good inning, or punishement for my pitcher having a perfect game into the 5th inning.

Anyway, last night I saw Torri Hunter (the real one) hit a home run against the White Sox, and I would like the Torii Hunter in my game to do something similar.

It is very rare when one of my players hits a ball farther than 300 feet.

What am I doing wrong? Please help

More information would be helpful. What level are you playing? Rookie-Pro-AllStar or MVP? Slider adjustments? Did you play the game last year? Do you move the left analog stick? Do you take any pitches? Are you whiffing or just making outs?

OK, playing the Pro level

I didn't touch any sliders, just left them at default

Yeah, I played '04, and dont remember having this much trouble. but then again, I wasn't punished for having a good inning last year. I would say comeback code, but that didn't go over too well last time i brought it up. but i digress...

I'm not famaliar with the term whiffing. yeah, I'm making a lot of outs. either popups, or hit right to the shortstop of third baseman or something like that.

using the left analog stick to help aim my bat. doesnt have that much of an effect

press up and in (if the pitch insidE) and up and away if ball outside, with the analog stick, if keyboard, make sure num lock is on, use 8, 4, 6, 8 being the one you should always press, 4 and 6 are the keys depending on ball position (in or out) 4, out, 6 in.

NOTE: this is for lefty batters, for righties 4 and 6 switch around, same with the analog. ALSO, this belong in the Support Fourm

"Whiffing" means to strike out, specifically striking out swinging. The term probably came from the sound of swinging the bat hard, but not making any contact (and hearing a "whiff" sound).

Just from my own experience...On All star level tho....I will get a lot of base hits if i simply do not touch the analog stick. And swing at strikes, of course. Home runs are hard to come by...but believe it or not, most of my home runs are hit on low outside pitches I swing at and hit them to the opposite field. I have found on All Star level the opposing pitcher comes inside maybe 1 out of every 5 pitches....so I move my batter and crowd the plate to get a better handle on outside pitches.

Also, I moved User batting power up to about 7.

Oh my God!!!

Yeah, it made a difference.

I just played two games. The first game, I got a home run with my worst player. Not only that, but he (a right fielder) made a HR saving grab climbing the wall.

In the second game, I had a total of 12 home runs.

Yeah, this is much more fun.

I think this even effected team chemestry. I looked at my roster, and many more guys have the smiley face rather than the frowny face of the indifferent face.

Thanks so much for the help guys.

Twelve homers in a game. I don't consider that fun. That's almost boring.

Yeah, but consider the fact he hit 1 in 17 games or whatever, 12 in a games gotta feel good for him. I Also suck very very bad at hitting and cant hit for beans with my sluggers, but i dont think i would ever take things downa notch just to get some homers, im happy with Alex Cintron being my team leader in homers

I agree. I like to keep things close as much as I can, if I'm regularly winning by 5+ runs and hitting way too many homers, it's time to change things up a bit. In my Marlins owner mode season, I'm only leading in one batting category, and that's homers. Cabrera has 34 and is leading Jim Edmonds by 1. I'd get bored pretty fast if I were leading in all offensive categories. I don't have anyone leading in any pitching categories. Overall I'm at about .600 and barely leading my divison over the Phillies. I have about 50 games left in the season.

I'm playing on Pro, but I think I'm getting too good. My pitching has always been good, but my batting was suffering when I first got the game and had to get used to my first controller. I've now learned to aim in the highest hot zone and swing at anything that looks like a strike to me. I'm contemplating bumping the difficulty up to All-Star :) .
