ReddShadoe
Turning vsync on didn't work for me. I have a GeForce 6800GT. After reading EA's Tech Support FAQs, I reinstalled the game and didn't install the patch; works fine now. (Except that I can't seem to use custom rosters without crashing.) big shmooz
Did you turn V-sync on both ingame & in windows? Also... you should make sure the game is running at a 60hz refresh rate. Try doing those things & I bet the game will run nicer.
ReddShadoe
Nope. I turned vsync on in Windows and in the game, and I have 60Hz refresh rate. THe game plays WAY too fast. Check EA's tech support FAQs; they state that it's a problem with newer ATI & NVidia cards. They do not, however, state that they plan to do anything about it. They say to turn vsync on, but if that doesn't work, to reinstall the game without the patch. Nice solution, EA.
YankeexDev
Hey, I had the same problem, was the game really fast like it was in fast forward?
duckdodger215
yeah i know what you mean. when playing against bk kim it looks like he breaks about 10 bones during windup. also when a new batter comes up, you hardly have time to pinch hit if needed. If you did what you typed in the other post on this issue, you turned your V-sync off in windows. You said to move the slider to the left, which is incorrect. The slider needs to be moved to the RIGHT. BTW... I have a 6800 ultra card (the newest that NVidia has on the market as of now & my game runs smooth with v-sync on & at 60 hz. My advice is to double check that you adjusted your slider to the RIGHT for the V-sync.

You said to move the slider to the left, which is incorrect. The slider needs to be moved to the RIGHT. You must be thinking of someone else; I never mentioned anything about sliders. VSync is on in Windows and in the game, plays like it's on fast-forward. (EA clearly admits that the problem exists, and that it may not be fixable on all machines). I'm surprised you goit it to work with the 6800 Ultra, that's what mine is really (6800GT ocerclocked to Ultra out of the box) I run an Athlon64 3200+ by the way. (I needed it to keep up with that card!)
Smokin_Joe
You have to have a 60hz refresh rate so your vsync will cap the framerate at 60fps. I'm running at 1280X1024@60hz with vsync on with an X800XL@4XAA 16XAF and the game runs the way it is supposed to. If i use an 85hz refresh rate the game runs like it's on crack.
cobbbbbb
I had the same problem, try this, under your video card settings turn AA to 2x, AF to 4x, v-sync on. It fixed my problem, however I have to go back in and reset the AA and AF when I'm through playing or some other games like splinter cell 3 wont run worth a darn

Is this not you here? http://www.mvpmods.com/index.php?name=Foru...opic&t=8753 (the 7th post) It says ReddShadoe in the post. I know you did not originate the quote, rather you posted it from EA, but EA is mistaken if they say to select the OFF option for NVIDIA cards & is wrong to tell people with ATI cards Turn the Wait for vertical sync slider all the way to the LEFT. Here is the quote... Try turning Vertical Sync on. Follow the steps below to enable this function on NVIDIA cards. Right-click on the desktop screen and select Properties. Select Settings tab. Select Advanced button. Select the GeForce card (Tab). Select the Performance/Quality tab. Find the Vertical Sync option in the box. Select the off option. Restart the computer and try the game. For ATI cards Right-click on the desktop screen and select Properties. Select Settings tab. Select Advanced button. Go to the 3D tab. Check the Use custom settings box for both Direct3D and OpenGL. Press the custom... button to access the controls for both modes. Turn the Wait for vertical sync slider all the way to the left. Restart the computer and try the game. If this still fails to resolve the fast play. Uninstall the game and reinstall the game, but do not apply the 2nd patch. End quote Anyway, it's not important, as long as you have the sliders to the RIGHT in the control panel, it means you have V-sync on. I was only trying to help. It's not worth disagreeing over who said what etc... :)
big shmooz
Btw... 2 of my friends have the same card as you (6800 GT) & they also run smooth on 60 hz with V-sync on.

OCMr_B
I just installed the game fresh, with Patch #3, and got this issue (which is why I'm posting here...). Thanks for the tips guys. Got it squared away. 85hz for the refresh rate was my issue. Wonder why I didn't have this issue before?!?! However...whilst I played with the settings, I got the game running at hyper speed for a while. Play a few rounds of the hitting Mini Game, and then set things to normal speed. It was like playing live slo-mo for a couple rounds until I readusted naturally....LOL
MalibuKiller
you cant be serious that you play the game at 60hz this is unhealthy , i dont understand why ea fixed the speed problem that cheap way. there will be noe mvp (MLB) for next 7 years so if you play at 60hz for next 7 years have fun but we all should send ea more mails to fix the 60hz problem thats not right that they let us down with that 60hz thingy. snepp
If you use a resolution greater than 800x600 then the 60Hz only effects the on-field play, the menu portion will run at a more pleasant refresh rate. Oh, and why did you resurrect a year old thread?

(I needed it to keep up with that card!) The speedy gameplay only occurs when mvp surpasses 60 fps. Vsync and 60hz WILL lock you frames per second to no higher than 60. So if you have vsync enabled, chances are you are not running at 60hz in the game. And just because you set your desktop to 60hz, that doesnt mean the game will use the same refresh rate. Try something like refresh lock or use the built in refresh override option in your video cards settings.

While my eyes adjusted last year to 60hz on my crt, I went out over the winter and bought a LCD with MVP in mind. Now I can play at 60hz without worrying about the stupid refresh rate. TheMadcap
patch 3 is giving me fits as well. I am running @ 60hz refresh, vsynch on (windows & in-game), 2xAA & 4x AF & the players are still flying around like mad. Anyone have any other tips to correct this? 3.2 ghz EE Dual Core 7800gtx sli config.
edm
run a program like fraps while you are playing to make sure the frame rates are not going above 60 frames per second. If they are, then it means you're not running a 60hz with vsync in game mode. If they do not go above 60 and you still get fast gameplay, then I'm not sure. 69Yanks
My fix was to increase the resolution to the Max under the games video options ?? x 1024 x 32. At less than that the game runs fast. Vsync is on in the game also. My anti and aniso are 2x each. ATI 9800 Pro P4 2.0Mz Gig ram.
Mobius
theres also a nice program taht you can download off this site under the tools and editors section. its called the speed fix and you can speed up or slow down your cpu. i used it and its good to adjust and play around... but one thing, now i'm not using it anymore and game speed is normal for hitting and pitching, but once the ball gets to the outfield, gameplay speeds up like crazy until the ball gets back to the infield...also the ball still stutters in the infield throws...any suggestions?
