anyway's thanks for all da hard work and time you guys put into making these wonderful projects. If it wasn't for you guys creating stadium upgrades, updated rosters, etc i would never shell out $30 bucks on da pc games. so thanks. :D

Well never say never. I heard they added i think a Go Sox ad at Fenway Park or something like that in this year's game, and that ad was made by a mod.

I guess if they see how good modders can make mods and have a good resume (not like a modder who only makes 1 mod but a guy who has made alot of mods and have been very good mods too). I guess if i was them i would consider hiring them. But then again they could just have you work for them and instead of paying you $$$, they'll just send you every Newly released EA Game for a console/pc of your choice, and an alternate console/pc version if that console version is that game is not made for that console.

Either way i wouldn't mind seeing Pirate work for EA

But then again he goes off to work and forgets about us and the site. And then never makes another free stadium mod ever again.

  • 2 weeks later...

These guys (modders on this site) mostly do it for the love of the game.

EA does it for the money.

See the difference? Even though a lot of EA's products are eye candy, we here are not fooled. We've seen the difference that these guys make.

If you ask me, EA's staff couldn't hold these guys' jock straps. And therefore would probably not be willing to afford them.

And of course there are official licensing issues. Wall ads, Nike shoes, things like that. Not sure how difficult it is for EA to obtain some of these licenses, nor do I really care anymore.

My 29.99 is spent as a forethought to coming to this site. I've been around long enough to know that the modders make this game priceless.

i was just thinking about this the other day fantasizing about "what if"....

like JR said most of us do it for the love of the game. and i'm sure the guys that work for EA now at one time did as well. but again like JR said EA is a huge conglomerate, so IMO they probably assign one or two guys to each graphical area with a strict time frame. maybe one dude to do all the unis and such, with the limited time frame he has, he probably can only do so much. now is he happy with the end result? probably not. but EA probably is. i try not to get down on the default stuff in the game, because the dudes who make them probably have to bust their asses to get them all done by the project deadline that the " white collars" impose on them. i'm sure if they had their dithers, they would do things a lot differently, but just can't.

so in short to answer the original question, yeah they probably would hire some modders. but, in the end the results would be about the same.

they won't hire a modder. They really don't care. They see modders as people who do this for fun. To get a job anywhere, you'll need a degree in the end. They might pay for someone's work ( and even that's really unlikely) -- but in the end, they'll never e-mail you and offer you a job because your stadium, uniform, program,or anything like that was stunning.

that's me being realisitic.

I agree with fuzzone. Why would they hire someone when they actually reap the rewards for free?

Do really think they don't know what goes on here? Of course they do. I gave EA MY money because I knew how good these modders were.

EA has to appeal to a general audience, therefore staying in the "middle" so to speak, not totally leaning on a certain aspect of the game. But they ARE getting better as time goes on.

Even now, if I had to purchase an EA game and play the "out of the box" version, I would simply pass.

Tim Tschirner who used to run www.nba-live.com was hired by EA for the NBA Live Series. I've been involved with modding EA games since NBA Live 95, and I thought it was very cool for EA to hire him. In fact, my first mod ever is still available on their web site as a roster set for NBA Live 95!

I'm the youngest on the site and I tried to apply for a job. I figured out that it would be way too hard if your degree is 11 years away  .

I know I wouldn't mind seeing them hire Pirate for stadiums, KCCityStar and Moser for major league unis, Rambully for minor league unis, and RGlass for his MVPEdit utility (which should be included in the game anyway, the console versions have roster editors already in them I believe....maybe not MVP but other EA titles do). I doubt any of this would ever happen, but it would be nice to give some credit to the modmakers on here for making the game 100 times better than the "in the box" version of it. :) Later!!!
