help with mvpedit 2005

Each time that I use MVPEdit 2005 to change the names and appearances of some of the fake players I run into the same problem. Take Kevin Millar for example: I change his name, no. and assign his picture number. I then alter his appearance to match him. I then extract this file to the game. When I look at him in the game his picture and number have changed and his appearance numbers have also changed but he still appears to be African-American. All of his appearance numbers are correct but he hasn't changed. This numbers are also grayed out.
