Hitting approach

I was wondering how people approach hitting with each batter. Like, do you just hit the same with each batter? Or do you hit like each person does in real life. Like with my current dynasty I'll give a few examples. I have Ichiro. Even though I could hit homeruns or doubles if I tried to, I try to hit everything on the ground or just line drives. I'm also very aggressive with him. Rarely strikeout, rarely walk. Just like in real life. But my cleanup hitter is Jason Bay. He's a power hitter but does strike out often(129 Ks in 120 games). So I've struck out quite a bit with him, but still have a decent average(like .280) and have a pretty high slugging % because of the way I hit with him. Or say when my pitcher comes up. I could probably hit .230 have 2-3 homers with each pitcher by the end of the year(even the bad hitting ones like Kazmir) if I really tried. So instead I try to hit like a pitcher. Very impatient, if I see something close I swing at it(if I'm not bunting). While I was playing last night I noticed I do this with hitters. So of course I wanted to see if other people do it this way as well.

I generally play with the Cardinals. Certain batters I sit and wait for certain pitches unless I have two strikes. For example, I wait for inside fastballs for Jim Edmonds. If I get an inside fastball up, it's gone 9 times out of 10.

I have 2 power guys: A-Rod, and Sheffield. With Sheffield, I wait for an inside, hide pitch to drive. With A-Rod, I wait for a pitch outside, and high, to drive the other way.

I strike out alot, but lately I have been patient trying to have the guy throw more pitches and wear him down some. Im starting to get more walks also which helps. Sometimes the pitches are so close you don't know if its a strike and then you swing and whiff strike three.

My big power guys I sit on up and in fastballs and try to drive the ball OOTP. With weaker hitters, I'll usually go for line drives to the gap. Really depends on the player stats and the situation, so no I don't attack batting the same way with every batter.

With big power guys I tried waiting on inside pitches to pull for HRs, but I found out I was too slow even on changeups inside. Either the pitch speed was really high in the datafile, or I just had no reaction time. I started looking for middle out pitches to drive the other way and ended up getting a lot more HRs and doubles, not as long in distance, but if it goes over, its good in my book. The extra 1/10 of a second to wait got me alot more balls for walks too, especially since I might have swung at them if trying to pull. Lots of pitchers tend to throw changeups/breaking balls away anyway, so I have even longer to wait. But again, its all about timing. You can hit homers without touching the stick at all if you hit the green ball on replays. You can also pull homers even holding up and away, again if you hit the early green on an inside pitch.

For me it seems likeeach batter has his own style. For example w/ carl crawford, I move in toward the plate and wait for a pitch to the middle or inner half and try to pull it. I hold to the right, and a hair up. For Jose Castillo (2B), I move toward the plate and up and in and wait for a pitch on the inner half. This guys power rankings arent that high, but he can really crush them for me. He has as many homers as Pujols and A-Rod on all star. I called up Omar Infante from my AAA team 9moved castillo to short) and sent down BJ Upton cause i couldnt hit w/ him. Omar was leading AAA w/ homers, and in 2 games he has hit 3 homers for me already. For him I also move toward the plate and hold up and in. I can not seem to find the sweet spot for A-rod, Pujols, or rocco baldelli though. I had some success w/ Pujols by moving him away from the plate and just holding up, but he is definitely not hitting like he should. What I dont understand is even if my other guys get out normally they make soild contact w/ the ball. With Pujols and A-rod on pitches I think they should crush they hit like weak grounders or pop ups.
