iansimcox Posted April 22, 2005 Share Posted April 22, 2005 Today while playing I hit a ball past the pitcher, on the ground to centre field. It seemed to take an odd path out to the CF. On looking at the replay I saw it had hit second base and deflected. Has anyone else seen this? As a matter of interest, has anyone had a foul ball caught by the catcher while crouching from a very thin nick off the bat? five Posted April 22, 2005 Share Posted April 22, 2005 i really like ... how the ball bounces of the pitcher My only problem with this, is the fact that no matter what, the pitcher will make (or attempt to) the play. JP_Frost Posted April 22, 2005 Share Posted April 22, 2005 I've had one bounce off 2nd base and one which bounced up when it third base...so my player ( David Wright ) caught it and threw an absolute bullet to 1st. The CPU batter hit a sharp grounder down the third base line, I made a well timed dive move toward the bag that was gonna be caught (a replay reinforced that assessment). One problem, the ball hit the bag and skipped up and over my third basemen's glove for a double and 2 rbi's. This happened in the bottom of the ninth with 2 outs..... Too bad if the ball hits the plate its supposed to be a dead ball, which is the same as a foul ball I believe but I guess thats one of those little things EA missed again. I won a game because the throw was off target, but it hit the mound and bounced right to the catcher who tagged the guy out to win the game. Homeplate is fair territory, if the ball hits homeplate it's fair unless it comes straight back to the catcher or end up outside the 1st or 3B baselines. janne1720 Posted April 23, 2005 Share Posted April 23, 2005 Happened to me too five. 10th game of the season, sharp liner off the pitchers leg, but he runs over to the ball and makes the out at 1st on a jeterlike over the top throw going the opposite way.
