Tips on moving batters?

I've been experimenting with moving batters either closer to or further from the plate. In my earliest trials of this, I seem to be hitting better.

Generally, I move the batter according to where his hot zones are. But, I was hoping those who have moved batters a lot will share their experiences.

My brief experiment suggests there isn't a right way...a lot depends on where the batter is and where the pitch is.
