RIP - Don Blasingame

Don Blasingame, who played for 12 seasons in the major leagues, died on April 13, 2005 at his home in Scottsdale, Ariz. He was 73.

He was 23 years old when he made his debut with the St. Louis Cardinals in 1955. In 12 seasons in the major leagues, Blasingame hit .258 with 21 home runs, 308 RBI and 105 stolen bases.

His most productive season came in 1957 when he hit .271 with eight home runs, 58 RBI and 21 stolen bases for the Cardinals. He was named to the National League All-Star team in 1958.

He played for the Cardinals (1955-1959), San Francisco (1960-1961), Cincinnati (1961-1963), Washington (1963-1966) and Kansas City (1966).

He later played and managed in the Japanese professional leagues.
