UncleMo
Now that I have your attention, if you download the Total Classics and try to play it you will notice that the 91, 92, 93, 95, and 96 braves are NOT in the game. All of those teams, being among the most classic teams in Braves history. Especially 91, 95, and 96. I know that the 1957 and 1961 Braves are there but Hammering Hank isn't there and I don't know 90% of those guys on those teams. Just a venting and and FYI for all baseball fans on the East Coast, especially in the Southeast. Nice idea, the total classics is, but is not something that is for me. On a good note, there is a 1996 Yanks, 1998?, and 2000 Yanks. Years that are classic years in Baseball/NY history. Unfortunately, the 1996 Braves are not there nor the other teams as mentioned above. I digress. I'll go cry in the corner now.
capa
Aaron is included on both those teams you mentioned. Phase 3 is coming and should include some later Braves teams.
UncleMo
not 57 unless he is on the bench and i was too occupied going "wowzers" and did not see him. i only saw matthews.
nittanylionfan3
Why is there only one braves team in TC 2004
The Big Unit
not 57 unless he is on the bench and i was too occupied going "wowzers" and did not see him. i only saw matthews. I'm probably in the minority but I don't even think the '57 Braves should be listed for Atlanta. They should be listed for Milwaukee. They played here not down south. :)
UncleMo
u may b right, it is prob. the milw. braves. i am sorry. why no 1991 braves? as damon wayans used to say "its a conspiracy. c-o-n, spiracy."
626punk
No Braves team is a Classic Braves team except for the older ones that are already on there. I mean, how do you consider a team Classic when all they do is win the division, and then try to lose in the first round because every player already made vacation plans to go play golf? LoL! That's just a joke fella's! I'm in no way a Braves fan, but, I think it'd be cool to have some more Braves teams in there so I can whoop every one of them with my good ol' Mets 8)
capa
Ok...let me give you guys a little history. The TotalClassic concept was conceived last year by a group of 3-4 guys who basically wanted to get their favorite classic teams into the game for exhibition purposes. All of these guys had done the same for previous baeball video games like High Heat, Hardball, Tony Larussa, Oldtime Baseball, etc. The focus became creating teams that we liked...not necessarily the greatest teams for each franchise. This is why you will see some teams that may have not even won a World Series, but may be someone's favorite. The 65 or 63 White Sox are included...why? Because one of the roster makers loved that team as a kid and wanted it in. You'll also notice that there are not as many teams from the recent past (1990's, 1980') as there are from previous decades. We really wanted to give the roster set an oldtime feel, and mostly teams pre-1980 have been included. But again, the bottom line in all this is, the teams were selected not based on any particular ranking of the best teams, but for personal favorites for the most part. I know we have tried to include some of the ones people requested over the past few months. As you know, with an endeavor like this, it would be impossible to please everyone. BTW...Aaron is the starting RF for the 61 Braves and 69 Braves in the set. He is alos listed as starting CF for the 57 Braves vs National League teams. UncleMo
Don't listen to me about Aaron then guys. I can be wrong on this. Very wrong. 626Punk, there is truth to what you said, but still, it is baseball history, classic teams, just like the 1991 twins should be there, and the 1996 yanks, and i would say the 200 yanks that lost it. those are classic years, just like the 1995 and 1996 braves. not every year of the braves run, or every year of the yanks, just the classic teams. now leave me alone, i have sulking to do. ) i understand though, that they made teams that they liked. so oh well. The H
Just a reminder for everybody... one thing is providing constructive feedback... a very different one is whining/b*tching just because... lets keep things civil and more importantly, lets remember that these guys are doing this as a hobby and not because they are getting paid (they aren't). stecropper
There is no big conspiracy here fellas .......... it is Oh So simple .......... If you want a team included then send your MVPEdit V4 .met file to FuzZ and then there is a really good chance it will make the cut in Phase 3. That is how almost every team has gotten in. Individuals, regardless of if they are part of Team Classics or not, sent in their Teams to be included. So don't just make a request ---- take action and get your team in the same way others have!!! Rush2112
I already brought up the point about the 91 and 95 braves along with the 89-90 A's. As capa explained though... its their favorite teams that they chose to put into the game which is understandable being they are the ones doing all the work. I aint sure how old they are but if they are in their mid 30's to 40's then most of those 60's-70's teams are classic to them.... as for me and others who are in their 20's may remember the teams from the 80's early 90's and call them classics. So its all understandable.... though i'd love to relive the 91 series again and this time bean kirby Go Braves
capa
Oh...we are very very old...I am 49...probably the oldest of the bunch! And yeah...my memories are of Mantle, Maris, Oliva, Carew, Stargell, Clemente, Ford, McClain, etc... vs Puckett, Smoltz, McGuire, Canseco. But I understand that the 80's - 90's teams got shortchanged here a bit...I agree.
stecropper
The Total Classics Team does have some seasoned veterans I must proudly admit. But we also have some very talented and experienced youthful members as well. A real balance of interest exist on this team. Which I think greatly adds to the overall quality of this project. I am 57. That is why I only build rosters for the teams that I really know a fair amount about. If I attempted to build teams from the 90s, for the most part, I would be guessing at thier attributes - and in my case this applies to most of the teams from the '80s as well. So I avoid even attempting those and leave it to individuals that are much more qualified to build those teams to contribute to the Total Classics project with the quality we seek. The Total Classic Team members are not the sole contributors to this project but more so just an overseeing team of how this project progresses. FuzZ leads this effort and we just provide our individual contributions and suggestions on what should be considered next and down the line. Those suggestions/decisions are most certainly based primarily on what other MVPMods members have to contribute which we can integrate best into the overall theme of Total Classics. Thus, we welcome all contributions along with listening to suggestions from the MVPMods community. But in all honesty - contributions carry much more value than suggestions. Rush2112
Yeah i figured you guys were a bit older. Its certainly cool though to be able to play with these players that i only read or heard about. I dont remember Arron, Mantle, Maris from their playing days, i remember them in myth really. So it does give us younger guys a chance to play with some of the great teams/players before our time. No matter if the teams some of us younger ones mentioned make the cut in the end or not its still real sweet and all the work you guys put into this is amazing. Not to kiss *** haha but really it is amazing. Go Braves

UncleMo
folgies, can you please tell me your memories of mantle, the only old player that i wish i knew more about. i read on him, but if you saw him play, i'd like to hear about it in this thread. i'd be happy. also, thanks for making an extremely deep game deeper. last, i would like it if you could suggest some teams to me. like, for the 1990's, i'd suggest 1991 braves and twins. for 1996 i'd suggest to you to try the yanks and braves. What teams do you suggest I play that I may enjoy more due to talent/famous guys on the team. I'm asking because there are so many old teams and I don't know 95% of those dudes. Thanks a lot. Mo. stecropper
UncleMo, '62 Giants had a slew of great ballplayers ... i.e. Willie Mays, Orlando Cepeda, Willie McCovey & Juan Marichal. Then of course the '61 Yanks ---- but I think everyone knows that. So my second suggestion would be the '61 Braves with superstars like Henry Aaron, Eddie Matthews, Joe Adcock, Joe Torre, Warren Spahn, Lew Burdette
capa
Mantle - my hero growing up in NY. When I was a kid, everyone wanted to be like the Mick. Everyone clamored to get #7 jersey when they handed out the Little League jerseys. The Mick was a god...I don't think you can appreciate his fame and influence unless you lived through the era...sort of like the Beatles. Mantle was a 5 tool player hampered by bad knees. This guy was clocked from home to first in 3.3 seconds! And was the best switch hitting power hitter ever to ever play. He didn't just home runs...he hit what became known as "tape measure jobs". And this was in the day of cavernous stadiums and balls that were not quite as "lively" as today. Oh yeah, the mound was taller and the pitchers could get away with pitching inside, as well as scuffing the balls. He ended with 536 homers over 18 years. But the last 4-5 years of his career were tough due to the fact that he could barely walk, never mind run or hit due to his knees. He could do it all...beat you with a homer, steal second and third on you, drag bunt for hits, throw you out from center at home, etc... just an incredible player, and if healthy, can be argued as perhaps the best ever...but we will never know. He battled personal demons his whole life - a fear of dying before 40 like every other male in his family, and he found solace in alcohol. He passed away in the mid 90's due to liver failure...after years of alcohol abuse. Still my hero...for his on field exploits... C
