When You Played (Are Still Playing) Baseball..
DeadShot replied to JoeRudi26's topic in Left Field (Off-Topic)
Since Y4L told me to browse this topic, I did and I came across this thread which was rather interesting. I decided to post something so here you go........ What position? First baseman Were you a power hitter? Yeah I was. Second best power hitter in the team. Besides I was 14 at that time and the best was 15..... So Contact hitter? I hit for decent contact. My coach has this weird philosophy that we must always put the ball on the ground and try not to hit it over fielders. Whatever. Decent Glove? Yeah. I had decent range and a really strong arm. I wanted to try out for SS but my coach didn't allow. Probably because he wanted people who were smaller and more agile to play there. I was a big kid at that time. How many HR's did you hit? 15-20? Did you make the All-Star team? Yeah I did. A couple of times in fact. -
I got the time to browse through some of them and a couple of them were pretty funny!

Oops I am sorry. Probably should have done my research

Not exactly a humorous video. But I don't wanna create a separate thread just for the sake of including it. Some of the most amazing MLB plays. Hey, make a post a tell us which of these you have seen live and which one of this you like best. I personally loved the Ozzie Smith barehanded play. It was the best .

Thats a good one KC! I have another one "paying tribute to Derek Jeter".

http://yanksgoyard.com/2014/10/04/medical-comparisons-show-mark-teixeira-big-year-2015/ What do you think of this article Yankee4Life? Will Teixeira rebound in 2015?

Since the baseball season is almost over, I want to start a thread on which you can post funny baseball related videos. You can post funny videos unrelated to baseball, but best is to stick to baseball. After all MVP MODS is all about baseball! The aim of this thread is for someone to get a quick laugh or two and to kill time if your favourite team has not mad it to the postseason So I will be starting off with this video which "teaches you how to play second base" . (Beware of NSFW language) Cheers!

Random Thoughts On A Sunday Morning Updated To 7-28
DeadShot replied to Yankee4Life's topic in Left Field (Off-Topic)
In case you didn't know, this is an opinion thread from Yankee4Life and he has been doing it for almost a decade now. Therefore, he doesn't need to explain to you whatever things he says here because that is his opinion. You can disagree with it, but he doesn't need to explain to you why he says something. -
Alright let me share my views on the Yankees 2014 season - Let me start off with MARK TEIXEIRA. Yeah him. For some reason he's hated like A-Rod around here. Not to say that I like Mark Texeira and his big bloated contract, but I feel he is unfairly criticized. Yes he doesn't hit well enough and he is injury prone, but do you realise this is his first season back for a major injury? His wrist was not 100% and you know the wrist is most important for hitting the ball. If your wrist is not strong enough, it's very difficult for you to hit the ball hard as your wrist will kinda "rebound" from contacting the ball. Yes he did hit a few bombs outta the park, but I believe his hard contact is not consistent enough. Furthermore, he is faced with the shift, which he has to hit the ball hard into for him to get a hit. Hitting slow dribblers into the shift isnt gonna get you a hit even though they are well placed. This is my opinion on why his batting average is only at .217. And for those of you who think he doesn't want to win or have the determination to do so, you are probably wrong. This guy has another cortisone shot in his wrist just to play the final FIVE games. FIVE games? And that was when all of you think the Yankees have missed the playoffs. This shows how much he wants to win. I am not in some Teixeira groupie or something. Yes I hate him for ruining the Yankees offseason plans this year with his bloated contract and I sometimes get frustrated with this guy for not living up to expectations but I believe he is unfairly criticized. -Carlos Beltran probably didn't hit that well this year due to his bone spur in his elbow. I have read many articles that he is declining. Well I don't believe guys forget how to hit overnight. Before getting the bone spur, he was hitting really well and even wone the AL player of the week. The bone spur probably prevented him from extending his arm too much when his swings. (Just my theory. You can disagree with me.) What I want to say is give this guy a chance the next season with his body in 100% health. After that we can talk about if he is really declining. -The reason why I think Brian McCann didn't hit that well this year is because he only played in the National League in his entire life. Thus, he had to adapt to AL pitching and learn a whole new pitching staff. Yes there are interleague plays during his time with the Braves but facing AL teams for almost 3 quarters of the season is different from facing them for 1 quarter of a season. Yes Alfonso Soriano did hit well when he come over from the NL, but he had more experience in facing AL pitching than McCann with his time with the Yankees (1993-2003) and Texas Rangers(2004-2005) while McCann played with the Braves his entire career. Thats my opinion on these three guys. Its just an opinion you can disagree with it. In summary what I am saying is give these guys another chance.

Since we are talking about fielding I have something to ask. Two things that bug me about MLB 2K12 are: 1) First baseman seems to be able to catch anything and pick anything from the dirt. Never do I see them fumbling a ball or misplaying it. 2) All fielders except for the first baseman seems to always throw in such a way that is difficult for the first baseman to catch to first. What I meant by that is that the shortstop, second baseman or third baseman always throw at the first baseman's feet even on an easy play. Even the second baseman, who is closest to the first baseman does that instead of throwing at chest level. Such a thing is very unrealistic in real world baseball. So does this two things have to do with the fielder's stats or it is just something 2K purposefully meant it to be?

Who would have thought that the Yankees would win today after being down 4 runs in the eight? I honestly watched the game only in the eight and I shut it off immediately.

Welcome back wudl!
-
That bothers you too? I guess Im not the only one. They seem to treat every Red Sox prospect as a potential All Star while Yankee prospects are just "solid major leaguers" , "fourth outfielder", "utility guy" or "bullpen guy". That seems to **** me off. Jackie Bradley Jr was a highly touted prospect and he didn't perform well this year. While Shane Greene who they project as "back of rotation starter" or "bullpen guy" actually does perform well.

You know what is the best part? He swung at the changeup out of the zone before striking out looking on the fastball

Your cyberfaces were great man. These things sometimes can be really difficult to make, so I appreciate your effort. Keep up the good work!
-
So far Im in my third season of my franchise and it didn't crash.
-
Best pa Best part is that he is gonna replace chase whitley in the rotation.
-
First of all, I want to say welcome back DetroitStyle! This may be also good alternative to BSU-FAN's latest roster. Look forward to seeing it!
-
Well Nuno's gone. Traded for Mccarthy. Yay!
-
Why would Oakland acquire two starters? I know they need them for the playoffs push, but they still have AJ Griffin and Jarrod Parker on the DL.When those two come back next year, they will have a logjam in the starting rotation.
-
I switched off the game after the third inning. Didn't know they won before I read the news. Lol

Lol the sarcasm on this thread is too damn high
