    We have a Trues sighting!
  2. It appears that Aaron Boone will be back as Yankees manager next year according to Hal Steinbrenner: https://www.cbssports.com/mlb/news/yankees-owner-hal-steinbrenner-says-he-intends-to-keep-aaron-boone-on-as-manager/
  3. Why did I think think this was a best of 7 series??? I didn’t know it was a one game playoff.
  4. And here we go again. The game is over before it’s played . . . While I expect that Verlander will pitch well, I can’t help but remember last week’s Game 1 vs. Seattle, when he gave up 10 hits and 6 runs over 4 innings.
  5. Nestor was outstanding and extremely efficient on 3 days rest. And then Loaisiga, Holmes and Wandy were lights out. And now it’s on to Houston!
  6. That would be a bad bet, as Cleveland is sticking with Civale (who hasn’t pitched since the end of the regular season) for today’s game. Meanwhile, the Yankees go with Nestor Cortes, which I believe is a better option than Taillon, even if they only get 4 or 5 innings out of him.
  7. Why not wait until the game is played before declaring that the season is over? First you declared that the division race was over and that they wouldn’t make the playoffs. That was wrong. Next, Quantrill would dominate them in Game 1 and Cole would suck. That was wrong. Then you said their season would be over after the weekend. That was wrong. Yesterday, you said that Quantrill would dominate the Yankees (again) and their season would be over. That was wrong. Do you see a pattern here? I’m going to wait for the game to be played before declaring it a loss. Taillon will be on a short leash. If he struggles early, Boone will yank him pretty quickly. I wouldn’t be surprised to see German in the game at some point. Other than Cole, everyone will be available.
  8. Oops. Another great outing by Cole. 7 innings, 2 runs, 1 walk, 8 strikeouts.
  9. You mean like he did in Game 1 on Tuesday when the Yankees scored 4 runs off of him and won the game 4-1? Is that what you mean when you say he will dominate the Yankees? If so, I hope he dominates them too!
  10. It’s always nice when Debbie Downer makes an appearance here . . . Spoken like a true Yankees fan. NOT! Maybe you should root for a team like the A’s. That way you never have to worry about them missing the playoffs or disappointing you because of a bad season.
  11. You must be disappointed by the result, then. 4 hits, 1 run and 8 Ks for Cole. I’ll take that any day.
  12. Chapman’s contract is also up this year too. With new, younger, guys proving themselves at the back end in the bulllen (Schmidt, King), Chapman’s days may be numbered as well.
  13. An 8-0 win with 14 hits. They seemed to be hitting today. Britton goes back on the 60-day IL. His season, and probably his time with the Yankees are over.
  14. Again, why does it matter what he does? The Yankees have Bader now and he has been doing well.
  15. Always the ray of sunshine. Just enjoy the win . . .
  16. If they lose you complain. If they win you complain. There is no pleasing you. A 5-3 win counts the same as a 15-3 win. Right now, I’ll take it.
  17. Another good win for the Yankees and they increased their lead over Tampa Bay to 7-1/2 games. I guess it’s the Rays who are SLIP, SLIDING, AWAY!! They have a 6 game lead over Toronto with 4 more games against them in the next few weeks. It would be good to put some more distance between them too.
  18. A win is a win. Plus with Tampa Bay and Toronto playing each other, the Yankees have been able to add some distance over both of them as they trade wins.
  19. My boss, originally from NJ who is also a Yankees fan, just said the same thing to me the other day. He’s told me stories of some of the Yankee games he attended in the past. For example, he was at the ALCS game in 1976 when Chris Chambliss hit the walk off HR to beat KC and get the Yankees into the World Series. He and his older brother tried to get onto the field like the thousands of others but a NYC cop pulled them back.
  20. Nice win today. The Yankees remembered how to hit again as they open the game with 7 straight hits. Taillon goes 7-1/3 innings and only gives up 3 runs. I’m wondering in Derek Jeter gave the team a pep talk after last night’s loss — “You’re the F’n New York Yankees! Play like it!!” Hopefully they can keep this going tomorrow.
  21. Despite playing almost an entire AAA lineup, the Yankees win the first game in 12 innings. Peraza goes 3 for 5 to get his first major league hits and Perez gets the game winning RBI. It’s nice to see the young guys coming through. They are the future of this team.
  22. It turns out I was incorrect. From what I read, Stanton fouled balls off his foot multiple times during his at bat.
  23. He fouled the ball, but it didn’t hit him. It was more the way he landed when he followed through on his swing. He fell forward and had to catch himself. He tried jogging it off but you could see there was some pain so Boone and the trainer took him out.
  24. Another good win today, this time against the Twins. I expect that Yankee4Life was yelling when Sanchez hit the long home run to tie up the game. Judge and IKF later hit home runs to give the Yankees the 5-2 win. It was nice to see the Yankees score more than 2 runs and for Holmes to have an uneventful 9th inning for the save.
  25. Nice performance by Montas yesterday - 5 innings, 1 hit, 7 K’s. Relievers that followed did well until Holmes had a nail biter 9th inning. The Yankees got an important win but there are still concerns with the hitters, other than Judge. There were still too many runners left in scoring position. Hopefully they can build on this win and start to do better as the Twins and old friends Gary Sanchez and Gio Urshela visit Yankee Stadium starting today.
