  1. After 6 innings, it’s Quitters 5 Orioles 2
  2. Considering that Montgomery took a 100+ mph batted ball off his left leg in the 1st inning, it’s amazing that he lasted 3-1/3 innings.
  3. Another solid performance by the Yankees bullpen today. 6 innings without giving up a hit.
  4. The article says that the Yankees were willing to give him the $21 million he wanted this year and then add the extension next year so the total would be around $234 million. Plus they were willing to put some opt-outs in the contract. He’s 30 years old. A 10 year contract takes him to 40. There is no way he plays that long. Not because he isn’t talented. Players decline in their mid to late 30’s, plus with his size, he’s more prone to injuries. We’ve already seen evidence of that with both him and Stanton. Judge said that he’d love to be a Yankee for life, but I guess accepting this offer and being the highest paid position player in team history isn’t enough.
  5. I just read an article in the NY Post that said that Judge was looking for 10 years / $360 million. If he truly does wait until the end of the season to restart negotiations, he is gambling that he has a mostly injury-free season to justify a contract higher than the Yankees offered. https://nypost.com/2022/04/08/aaron-judges-quiet-confidence-biggest-barrier-in-contract-talks/
  6. The latest report is that Severino threw a bullpen session yesterday using all of his pitches and felt no soreness afterward. He is now scheduled to pitch in a game on Saturday.
  7. If for no other reason, Wade and Velazquez gave the Yankees some much needed speed on the base paths.
  8. Frazier doesn’t surprise me but I’m sorry to see Wade go.
  9. They were thrown out at the plate more than any other team (Nevin) and had issues hitting (Thames), so changes were definitely needed in those areas.
  10. PLEASE root for the Red Sox in the ALCS! It’s the only way they are going to lose . . .
  11. How exactly is that rubbing it in? It’s a story in a Boston newspaper reporting on the Red Sox win the night before. I read it twice and I couldn’t find anything that you consider “rubbing it in.” Everything reported in the article was true. Contrast that article with this playful one In the New York Post on Tuesday morning, with the title “Boston sucks — and these are all the reasons why“: https://nypost.com/2021/10/04/why-boston-sucks-forget-it-losers-its-beantown/amp/
  12. Just let it go. Let’s stay in topic here. Looking forward to tonight’s game. I’d love another finish like this one: https://nypost.com/2021/10/04/bucky-dent-hoping-for-new-hero-to-emerge-in-yankees-red-sox/
  13. "Their" problem? I guess that makes me one of "them", but I'll leave it at that, since we're getting off the main purpose of this thread.
  14. I believe they can beat the Red Sox, especially since Sale won’t be starting, however, based upon recent history, I don’t think they can get past the Rays. I would love to be proven wrong, however, and I will be rooting for them as always.
  15. Correction - They COULD win one game this weekend, but they didn’t make it easy. On to Boston on Tuesday.
  16. 1st base is just one of the areas the Yankees will need to address in the off-season since both Rizzo and Voit will be free agents after this season.
  17. Well, it’s not just the Yankees that the Orioles play well against. They took 2 out of 3 from the Red Sox. Let’s hope the Nationals can do the same and that the Rays start resting players for the playoffs as they start the final series with the Yankees.
  18. Yankees win! Red Sox lose! Judge and Stanton continue with the hot bats The bullpen continues to pitch great And, the Yankees have a new good luck charm — Bronxie the turtle! https://www.cbssports.com/mlb/news/yankees-undefeated-through-six-games-since-adopting-team-pet-named-bronxie-the-turtle/amp/
  19. And just like that, the Yankees complete the sweep. Stanton does it again. He has 10 RBI’s in the series and the Red Sox score 9 total runs.
  20. Stanton comes up big and the Yankees take Game 2. 👍🏻
  21. Different day, different pitcher. Pivetta is making his pitches while Eovaldi couldn’t.
  22. Nice win last night. Let’s hope the momentum continues (and that the Sox put those yellow uniforms away!). It was nice to see the Yankees take an early lead. It took pressure off of Cole. Even better was the Twins beating the Blue Jays for the second straight night to put more distance between them and the Yankees in the wild card race.
  23. I noticed that myself today. Very strange indeed.
  24. Oops, you’re right. When I Googled the Raiders’ Super Bowl appearances, the link I clicked on brought up a site that only listed their wins. That loss in 1998 hit me hard and it took me a few days to get over it. I had never had that happen before (or since).
  25. Not really a valid comparison. The Raiders have been to the Super Bowl 3 times and they won each time. The Vikings have been to 4 Super Bowls (the last time in 1977) and have lost all 4.
