  1. Not really a valid comparison. The Raiders have been to the Super Bowl 3 times and they won each time. The Vikings have been to 4 Super Bowls (the last time in 1977) and have lost all 4.
  2. Yup, 1998. In the NFC Championship game the Vikings were leading the Falcons by 7 points with a little over 2 minutes to go in the game. Gary Anderson, who had not missed a field goal in 2 years(!), lined up for a 39 yard field goal to push the lead to 10 points. It would have pretty much sealed the win for them, but the kick went wide right by about a foot. The Falcons tied up the game with less than a minute left in regulation (after the Vikings dropped an interception) and the game went to OT where the Falcons won on a field goal. The Falcons went on to lose the Super Bowl to Denver 34-19. Had they made it to the Super Bowl, I believe the Vikings would have won. Fast forward to 2016 when the Vikings played the Seahawks in an NFC Divisional playoff game in Minnesota. Because their new stadium was being built, the Vikings played outdoors at the University of Minnesota stadium for two years. The temperature at the start of the game was -9 degrees with a windchill of -25 degrees. Legendary Vikings’ head coach Bud Grant came out for the coin toss in a Vikings cap and short sleeved polo shirt. With 22 seconds left in the game, trailing 10-9, the Vikings lined up for a 27 yard field goal, but you guessed it — the kick was wide left and they lost the game. I have said many times that I would gladly trade one or two of the Yankees World Series championships I’ve witnessed in my life for one Vikings Super Bowl victory.
  3. I’m a long time Vikings fan as well (starting in the early 1970’s). Once again, they lose because of a missed game ending field goal. I used to refer to them as “the Red Sox of the NFL” because they always seem to find a way to lose when it matters the most and can never win the big game. That all changed in 2004 when the Red Sox won the World Series.
  4. You really do seem to be enjoying these Yankees losses. But then again, I guess all of you Blue Jays fans are enjoying them.
  5. Please do. The Yankees seem to win when you root against them.
  6. It was a great game and great to spend time with my daughter. It was Odor that called time before he hit the home run? I suppose that’s why the Boone didnt come running out of the dugout to protest. We, and the rest of the crowd, couldn’t tell who called time. Everyone was blaming Angel Hernandez, the home plate umpire, and there was some very loud booing when Odor had to continue batting. Velasquez looks like he is really enjoying playing and he is fun to watch. It was special to see his first HR.
  7. Another great win for the Yankees last night. I’m on the train to NY right now with my middle daughter to see today’s game. It’s our annual father/daughter trip to see the Yankees play. Cole is pitching today so I’m looking forward to seeing him in person.
  8. Luckily you’re not managing the Yankees. Heaney went 7 innings and gave up only 2 hits and 1 run. I’d consider that a good night.
  9. Yes. You say that a lot . . .
  10. That TV overlay on the Field of Dreams game looks a lot like one of the Total Classics overlays.
  11. I don’t know about that. They still have to pay him through the end of the 2022 season.
  12. At least Luis Gil has been a bright spot. Two straight superb outings.
  13. Anthony Rizzo tests positive for Covid. Arrrggghhh.
  14. He got his first hit, a double, in this afternoon’s game.
  15. If they score more runs than the opposing team, they still get the win, don’t they?
  16. And like they did with Gallo, the Yankees got the Cubs to pay the rest of Rizzo’s 2021 salary.
  17. The NY Post is reporting that as part of the Gallo trade, the Rangers will be paying the remainder of his and Joely Rodriguez’ 2021 salaries: https://nypost.com/2021/07/29/the-yankees-joey-gallo-trade-just-got-a-little-bit-better/
  18. It’s a salary dump to free up money to move them further under the luxury tax threshold. Didn’t you and Yankee4Life say that the Yankees should sell off players when you gave up on them? They are just doing what you asked for.
  19. I thought you stole 2nd and THEN 3rd and Home. Is this another of those NL vs AL differences? MLB really needs to make things consistent between both leagues . . .
  20. Nationals 18 Marlins 1 Red Sox 13 Blue Jays 4 Mets 15 Reds 11 Tigers 14 Rangers 0 Maybe there was something to that whole Spider Tack business after all . . .
  21. Dennis comes through yet again.
  22. Considering the fact that the creator of this mod was last here in 2017, I would say that it’s pretty unlikely.
  23. As Yogi Berra would say, “It’s deja vu all over again” in the Bronx today. In the top of the 7th (last inning of the first game of today’s doubleheader), the Yankees are up 5-4. Chapman gives up a tying home run to the first batter and the Mets go on to score 6 runs in the inning. ☹️
  24. it appears they are not selling just yet: https://www.cbssports.com/mlb/news/yankees-trade-for-outfielder-tim-locastro-in-deal-with-diamondbacks/
  25. And in the end, it didn’t matter since the Angels scored 7 runs in the 9th to win the game 11-8. That was brutal. I hope KC didn’t stay at the game until after 1 a.m. to watch the bullpen meltdown. After the late game, they now have to play again today at 1:05 p.m. Let’s see if the Yankees can shake off the loss.
