  1. 1st base is just one of the areas the Yankees will need to address in the off-season since both Rizzo and Voit will be free agents after this season.
  2. Well, it’s not just the Yankees that the Orioles play well against. They took 2 out of 3 from the Red Sox. Let’s hope the Nationals can do the same and that the Rays start resting players for the playoffs as they start the final series with the Yankees.
  3. Yankees win! Red Sox lose! Judge and Stanton continue with the hot bats The bullpen continues to pitch great And, the Yankees have a new good luck charm — Bronxie the turtle! https://www.cbssports.com/mlb/news/yankees-undefeated-through-six-games-since-adopting-team-pet-named-bronxie-the-turtle/amp/
  4. And just like that, the Yankees complete the sweep. Stanton does it again. He has 10 RBI’s in the series and the Red Sox score 9 total runs.
  5. Stanton comes up big and the Yankees take Game 2. 👍🏻
  6. Different day, different pitcher. Pivetta is making his pitches while Eovaldi couldn’t.
  7. Nice win last night. Let’s hope the momentum continues (and that the Sox put those yellow uniforms away!). It was nice to see the Yankees take an early lead. It took pressure off of Cole. Even better was the Twins beating the Blue Jays for the second straight night to put more distance between them and the Yankees in the wild card race.
  8. I noticed that myself today. Very strange indeed.
  9. Oops, you’re right. When I Googled the Raiders’ Super Bowl appearances, the link I clicked on brought up a site that only listed their wins. That loss in 1998 hit me hard and it took me a few days to get over it. I had never had that happen before (or since).
  10. Not really a valid comparison. The Raiders have been to the Super Bowl 3 times and they won each time. The Vikings have been to 4 Super Bowls (the last time in 1977) and have lost all 4.
  11. Yup, 1998. In the NFC Championship game the Vikings were leading the Falcons by 7 points with a little over 2 minutes to go in the game. Gary Anderson, who had not missed a field goal in 2 years(!), lined up for a 39 yard field goal to push the lead to 10 points. It would have pretty much sealed the win for them, but the kick went wide right by about a foot. The Falcons tied up the game with less than a minute left in regulation (after the Vikings dropped an interception) and the game went to OT where the Falcons won on a field goal. The Falcons went on to lose the Super Bowl to Denver 34-19. Had they made it to the Super Bowl, I believe the Vikings would have won. Fast forward to 2016 when the Vikings played the Seahawks in an NFC Divisional playoff game in Minnesota. Because their new stadium was being built, the Vikings played outdoors at the University of Minnesota stadium for two years. The temperature at the start of the game was -9 degrees with a windchill of -25 degrees. Legendary Vikings’ head coach Bud Grant came out for the coin toss in a Vikings cap and short sleeved polo shirt. With 22 seconds left in the game, trailing 10-9, the Vikings lined up for a 27 yard field goal, but you guessed it — the kick was wide left and they lost the game. I have said many times that I would gladly trade one or two of the Yankees World Series championships I’ve witnessed in my life for one Vikings Super Bowl victory.
  12. I’m a long time Vikings fan as well (starting in the early 1970’s). Once again, they lose because of a missed game ending field goal. I used to refer to them as “the Red Sox of the NFL” because they always seem to find a way to lose when it matters the most and can never win the big game. That all changed in 2004 when the Red Sox won the World Series.
  13. You really do seem to be enjoying these Yankees losses. But then again, I guess all of you Blue Jays fans are enjoying them.
  14. Please do. The Yankees seem to win when you root against them.
  15. It was a great game and great to spend time with my daughter. It was Odor that called time before he hit the home run? I suppose that’s why the Boone didnt come running out of the dugout to protest. We, and the rest of the crowd, couldn’t tell who called time. Everyone was blaming Angel Hernandez, the home plate umpire, and there was some very loud booing when Odor had to continue batting. Velasquez looks like he is really enjoying playing and he is fun to watch. It was special to see his first HR.
  16. Another great win for the Yankees last night. I’m on the train to NY right now with my middle daughter to see today’s game. It’s our annual father/daughter trip to see the Yankees play. Cole is pitching today so I’m looking forward to seeing him in person.
  17. Luckily you’re not managing the Yankees. Heaney went 7 innings and gave up only 2 hits and 1 run. I’d consider that a good night.
  18. Yes. You say that a lot . . .
  19. That TV overlay on the Field of Dreams game looks a lot like one of the Total Classics overlays.
  20. I don’t know about that. They still have to pay him through the end of the 2022 season.
  21. At least Luis Gil has been a bright spot. Two straight superb outings.
  22. Anthony Rizzo tests positive for Covid. Arrrggghhh.
  23. He got his first hit, a double, in this afternoon’s game.
  24. If they score more runs than the opposing team, they still get the win, don’t they?
  25. And like they did with Gallo, the Yankees got the Cubs to pay the rest of Rizzo’s 2021 salary.
