  1. It's really not all that hard. All you really need for tools are the eazip utility and a hex editor. After that, it's a matter of knowing what values correspond to each stadium. I have a sheet I created years ago with this information. I've got a similar sheet that has the numbers for the uniform slots and team name audios.
  2. Here's what you would need to do: Extract the Arlington audio data files from the data/audio/cd/spch_pbp/stdnmdat.big. I can't remember which files they are off the top of my head (my notes are at home), but each stadium has one or two files (for example 019a.dat and 019b.dat). Extract the Arlington audio header files from the data/audio/spch_pbp/stdnmhdr.big. Again, there are one or two files (for example, 019a.hdr and 019b.hdr). Rename the data files to the number that corresponds to the stadium you want Arlington to replace (for example, rename 019a.dat and 019b.dat to 03a.dat and 03b.dat if 03 corresponds to the stadium you want to replace). The header files are also renamed to the new number, but there is one extra step required. The .hdr files must be opened with a hexadecimal (hex) editor and the index inside the file (which indicates which .dat file to use) must be changed to the new audio number. For example, if the dat and hdr files are being renamed from 019 to 03, then the index must be changed from 13 (which is 19 in hex) to 03. Once the header and data files have been renamed and the header files have been hex edited, they must be reimported into the stdnmdat.big and stdnmhdr.big files.
Thanks for the update. I'll incorporate it into TC1976 and upload a new version in the near future.
  3. Have you looked in the Windows 10 thread in the forums? A number of people have had issues running MVP2005 on Windows 10.
  4. What Operating System are you running?
  5. Dynasty games will run fine. The year will say 2005 but it is using the actual schedule for that year. Did you follow the installation instructions? Are you using actual MVP2005 disks? Do you have any of the dynasty options enabled -- injuries, suspensions, trades, etc? All of those need to be turned off so that the rosters never change. As for MVP15 and TC1988, you need to provide more details that just saying they crash. What teams did you select? What stadium are you playing in? What options are turned on? Have you looked at the forums for answers? I know that there is a lengthy MVP15 support thread.
  6. The intro and between-inning music is contained in the bdcstdat.big file. I believe that it is in the data\audio\bdcst_mx or data\audio\cd\bdcst_mx folder. You need the In-Game Music Editor to change it. I can't find the editor in the Downloads section so I've attached it below. It's possible that the utility may only run under under Windows XP. IGMusIm.zip Here's a forum post on how to create / update batter walkup music: Just click on the "Reply to More Walk-Up Music Issues" title to see the full post.

Total Classics 1976 By Jim825 & dennisjames71 During the 1976 baseball season, fireworks reigned as the United States celebrated its bicentennial and baseball's National League honored its 100th season. The year also marked Marvin Miller's tenth anniversary as executive director of the Players Association. After the 1975 season, Miller went to bat for pitchers Andy Messersmith and Dave McNally, who were declared "free agents" by an arbitrator. The ruling so angered the owners that they locked the players out of spring training. The season did begin on schedule -- thanks to the intervention of commissioner Bowie Kuhn -- but the sport of baseball had been irrevocably changed. Free agents became commonplace and baseball salaries skyrocketed. Mike Schmidt, the Phillies' third baseman, opened the season by slugging four of his major league-leading 38 homers in an 18-16 shootout with Chicago. Schmidt led a team loaded with recently acquired veterans, including outfielders Bobby Tolan, Jay Johnstone, and Garry Maddox; second baseman Dave Cash; and pitchers Jim Lonborg and Tug McGraw. Philly won 101 games in 1976, finishing 9 up on Pittsburgh. Cincinnati continued to dominate in the West, winning 102 games. Baseball's best second baseman, Joe Morgan (.320 average, 27 home runs, 111 RBI), walked away with his second consecutive MVP trophy. After a two-year hiatus, the Yankees returned to a renovated Yankee Stadium and played like the Bombers of old. With Chris Chambliss, Willie Randolph, Graig Nettles, and Thurman Munson guarding the infield; speedster Mickey Rivers patrolling in center; and Sparky Lyle leading the American League with 23 saves, the Yanks finished first in the East, 10½ up on the Orioles. Kansas City's 23-year-old George Brett led the American League with a .333 average, winning a disputed batting title over teammate Hal McRae by one point. Brett won the crown on the last day of the season against Minnesota; he smacked one to outfielder Steve Brye, who seemed to deliberately misplay the ball, allowing Brett to get his needed hit. The hit didn't affect the American League West standings, though, as Kansas City finished 2½ up on the second-place A's. The Reds swept the Phils in the National League Championship Series in three games. The American League Championship Series, however, was a classic five-game series. Although KC's Brett hit a sizzling .444, the spotlight was on Chambliss, New York's first baseman. Chambliss hit .524 with eight RBI, including a homer in the bottom of the ninth of game five -- a shot fans still talk about. The 1976 World Series, however, was a disappointment. Billy Martin's Yankees had little left against the powerful Big Red Machine, as the Reds won in four. Bench ripped the Yankees' pitching for a .533 average, making Cincinnati the first National League team since 1922 to repeat as World Series Champions. ------------------------------------------- The Total Classics 1976 mod brings you the sights and sounds of the 1976 baseball season. 10. I never said that your DirectX wasn't OK. What I said was that you're not the first person to report problems running MVP2005 with DirectX 11. Don't believe me? Search the forums with the term "directx" I just did and found plenty of posts from people reporting the same problem you did.
  11. For some reason, MVP does not work with DirectX 11. Others have had this issue as well when running on Windows 7 with DirectX 11. Some have been able to get it working by downloading and reinstalling DirectX 9 but others have not. Try searching the Forums with the term "DirectX" and see if you can find any answers.
  12. The website name has been removed.
  13. bomberlove - I saw no sarcasm in Yankee4Life's post. Just because he said that the section with files to download is called "Downloads", it doesn't mean he was being sarcastic. vieextreme - Welcome to MVPMods. You didn't say what type of mods you are looking for. If you want to upgrade your game to the 2015 season, I would suggest the all-in-one MVP Baseball 15 mod that will update faces, rosters, music, etc. to the 2015 season. This is in the Total Conversions subcategory of the Downloads section. There are also plenty of other full-season mods that recreate specific years (1956, 1961, 1978, 1984, 1994, 1998 just to name a few) in the Total Classics subcategory of the Downloads section. If you have questions, search the Forums first and if you can't find an answer, feel free to post a question. This site has been around for over 10 years, so any question you have has probably been asked and answered multiple times.
  14. I can understand wanting to put something out there after spending months (or years) working on it. What he should have done was put a "Beta" label on it and list the areas that still needed to be worked on. This way everyone would know that it wasn't a finished project and it would allow them to overlook things that might not be perfect just yet.
  15. This is from a readme file that BRobby sent me last week regarding this first release of TC71: He acknowledges that the mod is still a work in progress. While I will probably do some cleanup and take on a few of these tasks, I definitely won't do all of them. For example, I won't do anything with the minor league teams.
  16. Perhaps when I finish my current project, I can take a stab at cleaning up the ratings a bit and creating an easier to use installer, with just a single file to download.
  17. I can probably give a little perspective on how those speed ratings came about, since I've got plenty of experience with TC rosters. When you import historical teams from the Lahman database into MVPEdit, which is how I create historical rosters, the ratings are automatically setup for you. One of the trickest and most confusing is the speed rating. I don't know how those are calculated. That being said, just because a player has a rating of 100, that doesn't mean that he is going to lead the league in stolen bases. For example, if you were to look at the TC1977 rosters in MVPEdit, you would find over 20 players with speed ratings of 100, yet only a few are near the top of the stolen base list at the end of the season. After I create my rosters and run the set of Global Tweaks that stecropper gave me years ago, I run countless sims and at the end of the season look at the league leaders in multiple categories for hitters (Batting Avg., RBI, HR, triples, stolen bases) and pitchers (wins, strikeouts, saves, complete games). I compare the results I get to the actual historical results I find on baseball-almanac.com: http://www.baseball-almanac.com/yearmenu.shtml I also look at my final standings (wins / losses) and compare them to the actual standings. I then go back and make individual or team tweaks (increase or decrease player settings) and run more sims. This cycle continues until I get league leaders, team won/loss records and season award winners that are close to the actual results from the year I am modding. This is can be a time consuming process, depending upon how many sim-tweak-sim cycles I want to run, but being the perfectionist I am, it is the only way to end up with results as close to real life as possible, and that is what I aim for with each of my TC mods. Once I am satisfied with the results, I stop tweaking, even if it means that some of the ratings (e.g. speed) may not make sense. BRobby told me that the files he uploaded were only an initial release, and he had more work to do on them. I'm guessing that he didn't run a lot of season sims or look at things like season stats, won/loss records, etc.
  18. Great info -- Thanks Dennis! I've pinned this topic so that it's easily accessible.
  19. Guys - Let's calm down here or we'll need to lock this thread. BRobby - As far as the screen resolution, Gordo is right. If you go into the game's Visual settings, I believe that the maximum resolution you can select is 1024 x 768, which was the top monitor resolution when the game was released back in 2005. When you try to play the game in a monitor with higher resolution, or a widescreen monitor, it will usually have a "boxed" effect, namely that there will be black bars on either side. When I create graphics for my mods, the largest ones are no bigger than 1024 x 768 because I had crashing issues when I tried to use them on my Windows XP PC or Windows 7 laptop. When he refers to "specialty stuff", (and he can correct me on this) it's not an insult, it's a fact. Most of the people who come here look at playing modern baseball (i.e. with the current major league players). Total Classics has always been, and will always be, a niche market on this site. That's not a bad thing. There is a particular audience that these mods cater to, but it's not realistic to think that everyone who visits here wants to play single season mods from seasons 30, 40 or more years ago. I grew up in the 70's, so that decade is near and dear to my heart. That's why I enjoy creating mods from that era. I also am a fan of baseball history, which is why I created mods for the 40's and 50's. While you and I can can debate who the better catcher was in the 1970's - Johnny Bench, Carlton Fisk or Thurman Munson, some people have no idea who those guys were. It's much easier, and more relevant, for them to debate and discuss whether Mike Trout is better than Bryce Harper. Again, neither discussion is better or worse than the other. It's all a matter of what you are familiar with. As far as installing mods, you will find that if it is hard to install, or not so hard but time consuming to install, then people will be less apt to install it. That's just the way it is. People aren't going to feel like unzipping 50 individual files to install a mod. When I get some time and can download your files, I can look at creating something that is easier to install. That would at least solve one issue that might keep people from installing the mod.
  20. If you took my comment as a complaint or criticism, I apologize. That was not my intent. I look forward to checking out the mod when I get a chance.
  21. Just my 2 cents -- Not everyone knows how to use Paintshop Pro or Photoshop (me included), so telling people that they need to edit files in the mod to get it to work is not going to go over very well and you're going to limit the number of people who can use or want to use your mod. I've always tried to make sure that my mods behave properly on the lowest supported system (Windows XP, standard monitor), because there are still plenty of us using those types of systems. I'm not trying to criticize your mod. I know how much work it takes to put one of these together. I'm just trying to help it to be successful for you.

It's been moved to the proper area.
  23. It all depends upon the laptop. My 4 year old HP Windows 7 laptop with integrated graphics runs MVP2005 just fine, even with everything set at high resolution.
  24. It was spelled out in the rules you agreed to when you joined the site. You need to wait and try to be patient. If people are willing to help, they will respond. If not, then it wasn't meant to be. Making the same request multiple times doesn't help anyone.
