  1. I'm guessing he bought it online and downloaded it through a service like Steam. In that case he wouldn't have discs.
  2. You're more than welcome to post what you want as long as it is constructive and relevant to the thread you are posting in. Hijacking threads to complain about issues you've brought up in the past, but which have not been resolved to your satisfaction, is the exact opposite of being constructive. We'll leave your post here for no other reason than to show you we can be fair. And if you look at the thread I started this morning about the online article on MVP2005 and wonder where all the negative comments are, they are hidden because I made the decision to do that. They had ABSOLUTELY nothing to do with the intent of the thread (celebrating the article about MVP2005 and the fact that MVPMods was mentioned). The thread was not titled "Let's discuss which game is better - MVP2005 or MLB2K". If you want to debate that, feel free, but do it in the proper forum. Don't hijack another thread to discuss it.
  3. About a month ago, a number of us were interviewed by Ben Lindbergh, a staff writer at grantland.com on why MVP2005 is still going strong, ten years after its release. He was particularly interested in the modding community that has refused to let the game die. Grantland is a popular sports and pop-culture blog started in 2011 by veteran writer and sports journalist Bill Simmons. It is indirectly associated with ESPN. I received a message from Ben today letting me know that the article has been posted online. Here's a link to it: http://grantland.com/the-triangle/mvp-baseball-2005-mod-community-mlb-video-games/
  4. Did you install the MVP14 mod first? If you just install the 2015 rosters without installing MVP14, the game will crash because come of the cyberfaces associated with the players on the 2015 rosters will be missing.
  5. That looks great and will be a welcome addition to Total Classics.
  6. Patches can only be installed on "clean", unmodded versions of the game. If you want to install mods, you typically patch your game first and THEN install the mods. It was EA's way of making sure that you were only applying the patches to official released versions of the game.
  7. I just opened MVPEdit and looked at the lineups and this is what I see: This is the way it's always looked for me. When going up against NL teams, you can only assign 8 batting slots because the 9th slot is reserved for the pitcher. Hopefully, we can put this issue to rest.
  8. I've been away from my PC that has MVPEdit on it for a while. I will try running MVPEdit again tonight to see if I see the same thing you did and report my observations.
  9. The last update to the Total Classics mod was almost 6 years ago. If anyone did experience an issue like you had, it would be in the Classics forum: http://www.mvpmods.com/index.php?/forum/30-classics/
  10. No problem. When we developed Total Classics, we really didn't really do a lot of dynasty / owner mode / sim testing. Most of what we centered on exhibition games.
  11. I was talking specifically about the Total Classics mod. What is a "cfs"?
  12. Did you try to play an exhibition game? Did that crash as well?
  13. When you installed Total Classics, did you install it for dynasty play? I believe I put an option in the installer for that. If you install for non-dynasty play, all 120 teams display player stats during the game, however, all 120 team are considered major league teams. The schedule only includes the 30 teams in the major league slots, so if you try to play a dynasty with a team in a minor league slot, the game will crash. If you install for dynasty play, the teams in the minor league slots won't show player stats but playing a dynasty will not cause the game to crash. I think this Is explained in the installation instructions I included with the mod.
  14. Exactly what mod are you talking about.? There is no "Total Conversion 2005" mod.
  15. $30! That's a great deal. If I didn't already have two copies of the game, I'd jump all over that.
  16. MVPEdit doesn't know anything about the settings in the game (i.e. whether you use the DH in both leagues). It only deals with the roster files themselves. NL teams will only show 8 players in the batting order and AL teams will show 9 players.
  17. I've got to disagree with you on this one. Anybody who can actually MAKE money from all the snow we've been getting here is a genius in my book! I only wish that I had come up with this idea.....
  18. I'd go with the 1978 season mod. I've always liked the way that season ended.....
  19. The schedule file only contains 3 years worth of schedules. I don't know if when you continue to a 4th year the schedule wraps back around to year one or if it repeats year three over and over.
  20. I might be interested to check it out, even if it can't be modded. The only real games I play on MVP2005 are Total Classics games. I don't play with the modern teams. The big thing for me would be the PC requirements for this game. MVP still runs smooth as silk on my 2004 Windows XP PC with the 512 MB video card that I bought about 6 years ago. I do also have a Windows-7 laptop with built-in graphics that runs MVP2005 as well, but I prefer the bigger screen on the desktop PC.
  21. What OS are you running? Windows XP? Windows-7? Windows-8?
  22. Yes I do. Thanks for asking.
  23. I assume you were paying a compliment to those of us who live in Massachusetts, commending us for our heartiness and our tolerance for cold weather. That's what you were doing, right?
  24. Thanks for the nice write-up on TC1977. As you've seen (pun intended!), Dennis' expertise and craftsmanship goes beyond uniforms. He did all of the menu and loading screens, the logos, etc. He truly is a master.

Total Classics 1977 By Jim825 & dennisjames71 Mix an arrogant slugger, a tempestuous manager and an impatient owner, and you've got the Yankees 1977 baseball season. Prior to 1977, free agent Reggie Jackson left the Baltimore Orioles and joined the Yankee roster. During the season, Reggie fought with Yankees manager Billy Martin, who clashed with owner George Steinbrenner, who didn't get along with anyone. Yankeeland quickly became known as the "Bronx Zoo." At the start of 1977, it looked like the Yankees would breeze to the playoffs. They won 97 in 1976, and now they added Jackson, Don Gullett, Mike Torrez, and Bucky Dent -- not to mention rookie phenom Ron Guidry. But the Yanks' season wasn't easy. New York won the American League East with 100 victories, but had to weather serious challenges from Baltimore and Boston, which both finished 2-1/2 games behind. In the American League West, Kansas City won 102 games and took the division by 8 games over Texas. In the National League, the big news was the trade of Tom Seaver to Cincinnati. The 32-year-old righthander posted a 14-3 record with the Reds, 21-6 overall. The Reds finished 10 games behind the Dodgers. Steve Garvey (.297 average, 33 homers, 115 RBI), Reggie Smith (.307 average, 32 homer), Ron Cey (30 homers, 110 RBI), and Dusty Baker (.291 average, 30 homers) did the damage. The Dodgers became the only team in history to boast four players with at least 30 homers. In the National League Championship Series, Los Angeles downed Philly in four games, with Baker blasting two key homers. The American League Championship Series went down to the last inning of game five. New York burned Kansas City pitchers for three runs in the top of the ninth to win the deciding game 5-3. The 1977 World Series between Los Angeles and New York became Jackson's private stage. In the sixth and final game, Mr. October launched three homers on three successive pitches to join another Yankee, Babe Ruth, as the only other player to hit three round-trippers in one Series game. Jackson batted .450 and belted a record five homers for the Series. ------------------------------------------- the Total Classics 1977 mod brings you the sights and sounds of the 1977 baseball season.
