    MVPedit...

I'm sure that very few people are aware of this, but if you look in your MVPEdit folder (i.e. the folder where you installed MVPEdit), you will find a file called readme.html. This ReadMe file is the MVPEdit "instruction manual" and it contains information about how MVPEdit works, how to use it, etc. Of course, like most instruction manuals, it's mostly ignored by people..... Look through this file, as well as Mark's FAQ file and I'm sure you'll find the answers to your MVPEdit questions.

On August 11, 1951, the New York Giants were 13 games behind the Brooklyn Dodgers in the National League. For all intent and purposes, the National League race was over. Someone forgot to tell that to the Giants, however. On August 12, the Giants kicked off a 16-game winning streak. Led by 20-year old Rookie of the Year Willie Mays and Sal Maglie (2.93 ERA and a league-leading 23 wins), New York won 39 of its last 47 (including the final seven) to pull into a first-place tie with the Dodgers. A split of the first two playoff contests set up a dramatic deciding game at the Polo Grounds on October 3. The Dodgers took a 4-1 lead into the bottom of the ninth. With Don Newcombe cruising along, three outs did not seem to be a tall order. Al Dark and Don Mueller then opened the inning with singles. After the heavy-hitting Monte Irvin popped out, Whitey Lockman ripped a double to left, scoring Dark and sending Mueller to third and Newcombe to the showers. Owning a 4-2 lead with the tying run in scoring position, Dodger skipper Chuck Dressen called for the right-hander Ralph Branca. Bobby Thomson stepped up to bat and on the second pitch, lined a game-winning, three-run homer to left - the "Shot Heard 'Round the World" -- giving the Giants the pennant and forever linking himself with Branca as baseball's classic hero-and-goat duo. ------------------------------------------- The Total Classics 1951 mod brings you the sights and sounds of the 1951 baseball season. 5. I used Don's "How-To" on roster building when I created the rosters for both the 1956 and 1978 season mods and the simulations I ran afterwards produced results that were very close to those achieved during the actual 1956 and 1978 seasons. Don is constantly tinkering and tweaking his formulas to try go get the most realistic results possible.

Once again, the eyes of the baseball world were on the bright lights of New York City (for the fourth time in five years) as the Brooklyn Dodgers and New York Yankees met on familiar ground for the coveted World Series championship. The "Bronx Bombers" had bested "the Bums" in three out of the four meetings, but it was the Dodgers who had the last laugh by winning their first title off a dominant Game 7 in '55. The 1956 World Series would be the last one for Brooklyn (and last Subway Series for 44 years) and it promised to be a clash of the titans, with American League Triple Crown winner Mickey Mantle facing off against 27-game winner (and inaugural Cy Young Award winner) Don Newcombe. The Yankees won the Series in seven games, 4 games to Brooklyn's 3, capturing their 17th championship. Brooklyn won games one and two, but New York pitchers threw five consecutive complete games (Games 3-7) to cap off the comeback. The highlight was Don Larsen's perfect game in Game 5, the only no-hitter in the history of major league post-season play. ------------------------------------------- The Total Classics 1956 mod brings you the sights and sounds of the 1956 baseball season. The 1978 season featured a constant battle for first place in the AL East between the Red Sox and Yankees. On July 19, 1978, the Yankees were in 4th place, 14 games behind the Red Sox. On October 1, 1978, the final day of the regular season, the Red Sox won and the Yankees lost, making them tied for first place with identical 99-63 records. On October 2, 1978, the two clubs met in a one game playoff. Cy Young Award winner Ron Guidry notched his 25th victory of the season and Bucky Dent secured his place in Yankees history by hitting a 3-run home run over the Green Monster. The 5-4 game is considered by many as one of the most exciting games in Major League history. ------------------------------------------- The Total Classics 1978 mod brings you the sights and sounds of the 1978 baseball season. 9. If it was a face type issue the face would be distorted and it would look like it had major scar tissue. In this case, you can make out the face structure, however, the colors are out of whack.
  10. Runner Steal Delay is the delay between the time the pitcher begins his windup and the baserunner takes off to try to steal a base. Making the value more positive (+) means that the runner waits longer to take off (and is easier for the catcher to throw out). Making the value more negative (-) means the runner takes off sooner (and is harder for the catcher to throw out). You can find a listing of what each slider does in this thread: http://www.mvpmods.com/Forums/viewtopic/t=5799/ As far as my difficulty level, I play on Pro with my combo datafile: http://www.mvpmods.com/Downloads/details/id=2023.html

This mod contains one combo datafile. The file "datafile.txt" contains the following modifications: - Trues batting camera #4 - Trues change to remove batter walkup music - Pareds Behind the Pitcher camera #6 - Spitoons walk fix (which reduces the size of the "sweet spot" in the pitching meter) - Trues changes to remove foul ball replays - Spitoons changes to move the outfielders back - abhalls HH low batting view camera #5 - Spitoons changes to move the infielders in - SeralMikes Walk and Strikeout Fix Changes from combo datafile mod v2.0 --------------------------------------------- In this version of the mod, I have added SerialMikes Walk and Strikeout fix to provide the proper balance of walks and strikeouts. Mike recommends setting the User Pitch Meter Difficulty Slider to 0. If you find the pitching too easy, you can make the slider more negative. If you find the pitching too dificult, you can make the slider more positive. Note that while my previous combo mod contained two datafiles (one with Spitoons Walk fix and one without), this version only includes one file. The reason for this is that SerialMike stated that his Walk and Strikeout fix only really functions properly if Spitoons Walk fix is included. Installation: ------------- To install the datafile, extract it to your MVP2005 Baseballdata folder. The specific changes are listed in the readme file

Here is a mod that should increase the enjoyment for those using Total Classics. Using MVPEdit, I have added portraits for all of the classic teams in phase 2 of the Total Classics project. This mod consists of two parts: 1. A portrait.big file that contains portraits for all teams in Total Classics Phase 2 2. A set of rosters with unique portrait IDs assigned to each player (if a portrait exists). In addition, the proper won-loss record for each classic team is now displayed when a game is started. Changes from v1.0 ----------------- It was pointed out to me that in v1.0, the following 4 players on the MVP Heroes team were missing portraits: Juan Marichal (ID #2145) Willie McCovey (ID #2147) Gaylord Perry (ID #2150) Willie Stargell (ID #2161) Portraits for these players have been added in Total Classic Portraits v1.1 Note that only the portrait.big file has been updated in this release. The roster files are the same as they were in the v1.0 release.

Jim825s combo datafile mods v2.0 ---------------------------------------- This mod contains two combo datafiles. The file "trues_pared_spitoon_noReplay_outfldBack_infld_In_lowBat5_datafile.txt" contains the following modifications: - Trues batting camera #4 - Trues change to remove batter walkup music - Pareds Behind the Pitcher camera #6 - Spitoons walk fix (which reduces the size of the "sweet spot" in the pitching meter) - Trues changes to remove foul ball replays - Spitoons changes to move the outfielders back - abhalls HH low batting view camera #5 - Spitoons changes to move the infielders in For those who find Spitoons walk fix too challenging (i.e. it makes it too hard to pitch), I have also included the file "trues_pared_noReplay_outfldBack_infldIn_lowBat5_datafile.txt" which has all the above modifications EXCEPT for Spitoons walk fix. Changes from combo datafile mod v1.0 --------------------------------------------- In this version of the mod, I have added Spitoons changes to move the infielders in to try to reduce the number of catches made in the outfield by the infielders. Installation: ------------- To install the datafile, extract the datafile you want to use, rename it to "datafile.txt" and then copy the file to your MVP2005 Baseballdata folder. The specific changes to the datafiles are listed in the readme file.
  15. You can handle this two different ways. You can either bump up the CPU contact and power numbers (i.e. make them hit better) or you can bump down your pitching numbers (User Pitch Meter Difficulty, User Pitcher Control) to make your it harder for you to pitch (i.e. not as many "good" pitches).
  16. To make the User and CPU pitchers tire quicker (i.e. not to last as long), you need to bump up the User Pitcher Fatigue and CPU Pitcher Fatigue sliders. The more positive you make them, the faster the pitchers will tire out. You may also want to adjust your User Pitcher Control slider to make it more negative (i.e. reduce your control). With less control, you will throw more balls, thus raising your pitch count and making your pitcher tire quicker. Also tied to this is the User Pitch Meter Difficulty slider. Making the pitch meter more difficult (making the slider more negative) will reduce the size of the green zone on the meter. This will also lead you throw more balls and again cause the pitch count to rise.
