  8. Congratulations to Jose Reyes for inking that guaranteed contract. And congratulations to the Marlins for spending some money. It will be a matter of time before we see if everything will pay dividends. As for the Marlins jerseys, I redid the numbers. I finally grabbed the numbers off MLB's website including each individual letter of the alphabet. It may be time consuming, but I won't settle for less. I also made a hockey catcher's mask in the MVP style as well as a managers jacket that mimics the black alternate jersey in a way. I have uploaded both high resolution textures and low resolution textures of the jerseys. If you got the previous version, uploaded in my thread, you are missing out on a better version of the home jersey. Honestly, I expect to update this when the 2012 season starts. I believe they are gonna actually wear black hats/helmets with the orange jerseys but I'm not really sure yet. I think it would look better that way. And here's one of my favorites, Kirby Puckett. He is missed in the baseball world. .
  9. here is another mulligan for me. Before I used a baseball card photo to make a Tony Gwynn face. I will only use cards if there are no other photos available. But I found a photo of Tony from one of his last seasons where he's actually wearing the camou jersey.
  10. Greatest Athlete of the second half of the 20th Century? Well, not at baseball but basketball was Michael Jeffrey Jordan
  11. Mitchell and Ness has the 1939 World's Fair patch wrong. But you don't have to take my word for it. Look at these pictures and be the judge. I've got nothing against their jerseys, but if you are gonna pay $100 up to $300, they can be as accurate as possible. But their version of the patch looks similar but not exactly accurate.
  12. I was bored last night so I made a rendition of the 1938 Brooklyn Dodgers jersey. This is the year after the Dodgers wore green for one year. In my opinion, this is the first year of the current that emphasizes blue. This is the year that Babe Ruth was the first base coach for most of the year. I made the jersey as a modern retro jersey that uses the regular jersey slots rather than it being classic. Thus I have the batting helmet and low socks design.
  13. You're right with Brett and how different he looks when he was older. I think he looks a lot less athletic aside from having more wrinkles. Most noticibly I notice it in his neck muscles. When he started DH-ing and playing 1B, is when I think he started to change a lot. He kind of aged fast after the late 80's. Maybe it was cigarettes lol. He didn't take a lot of photographs. Photographers were probably scared of him with the whole pine tar thing. just kidding. In all of Cone's photographs, I can never see his nostrils and usually don't see his eyebrows. I guess some guys are more photogenic on camera.
  14. I went and did some more editing to Brett. Since he's a Bats Left/Throws Right guy I realized his face gets reversed when he's batting. I didn't know what caused the reversal thing but now I know. So I had to fade out the wrinkle on his left cheek because it was so noticible when he batted. And it also looked like a scar. hahaha. I made his ears a bit bigger vertically, narrowed his nostrils and brought his eyes down a bit. I think he looks more like him. I do like your Hornsby. I'm not gonna tackle him. Yeah, there's really only a few pictures of Thorpe when he was young. I was reading up about him and how he was an extra and stuntman in hollywood. Pretty sad story because he had it real tough for him after sports. I am glad his family was able to get back his Gold Medals from the 1912 Olympics. He did break the rules unintentionally but the statute of limitations of the Olympics was 30 days to take away medals at the time. They took his medals away half a year later in Jan 1913. As I mentioned above, I was gonna make another player whose eyebrows faded away and played in Kansas City. I was talking about David Cone.
  15. I've had "modder's block" lately I've been sitting on that photo of Brett for quite a while. I've done five consecutive non high resolution faces in Ford, Jensen, Carter, White and Brett. I feel like I want to make some players from the early 1900's. Has anybody made a Jim Thorpe, Burleigh Grimes or or decent Rogers Hornsby? I had TC Phase 10 on my computer but I did a system restore and I think I accidentally deleted it. I just have the MEP and see there's a face for Rogers.
  16. Here's my own version of George Brett. I believe the photo has been used before but it's perhaps the only good photo of him. Unfortunately, Brett's eye brows are not present. I'm gonna make another player who has the same problem who also played in Kansas City. I guess if you live in Kansas City, then your eye brows disappear. lol.
  17. I think the new investigation is a waste of time and money. This credible new evidence sounds pretty fishy, and I really hope this is not funded by tax payers. But if they do uncover something, then great. I however am really pessimistic in this investigation. Are they gonna find Walken's DNA on Wood that they couldn't test before because the sample was too small? Now that would be a Hollywood style twist. Unfortunately from working in show business for a short while, I find that most stuff is really fake in Hollywood...maybe like this "credible evidence"
  18. I think Natalie Wood may have committed suicide. Her last diary entries are reported to being that she was extremely lonely and that the undertow was strong. She was drunk. The whole fight may have triggered in her mind that it was time to leave the world. The captain said he thought Wagner was responsible but he didn't say he killed her. I think the captain is saying Wood would not have died if Wagner wasn't so drunk himself and didn't have such a heated argument with Walken. I think the captain is saying Wagner is indirectly responsible for her death. That's just my opinion on the reopening of the Wood case.
  19. The NBA Stike has been great for Major League Baseball. Since the 1994 Strike, America's past time has been relugated to being #3 as America's favorite sport behind Football and Basketball. Perhaps, MLB will be back at least at #2 before the NBA re-opens for business. Glad the NFL avoided a lockout. Football has been pretty good this year
  20. I just didn't like how my Cal Ripken Jr face turned out so I worked on him again.
  21. Yeah. It's cool. Good luck with your versions. They look great.
  22. de nada my friend. I was having fun with this, but in the end. I felt like I wasted my time with it. All in all I spent about 8 hours into high resolution templates. But I ended making it in lo resolution to coincide with the numbers. The numbers are the most important thing to me and the resolution just isn't good enough. I already lost intest in making these jerseys. I think it's because there is no history with the Marlins with their new jerseys yet. I like looking at baseball and taking the historic approach. I couldn't help but think about my Marlins roster that has members of the 1997 and 2003 team and Loria throwing the old hat away is kind of symbolic of saying who cares about the history of the Marlins including their World Series titles. I'm not jumping on this bandwagon.
  23. okay, here's a preliminary version of the 2012 Marlins home jersey. I for the life of me don't really like them all that much. this replaces the spring training jerseys. I didn't edit the hockey mask and manager jacket yet. It's beta but good enough and gives you the idea. I really have no incentive to make any other versions. Check out the forums for other modder's versions of the Marlin's new uni's. There will be more effort and time spent on it than anything I'm interested in doing at this time. This is what Pujols might look like in this jersey. Uh, no comment betahom.rar
  24. thanks, dude. What I will do is make these jerseys with the fonts you provided. And whenever the marlins decide to sell personalized jerseys, I will pull the numbers off their site and update my files with the better resolution versions. check you pms within the next day and I will have something soon for ya! BTW the home fonts were off but I figured how to make them the right size. These jerseys are definitely an acquired taste. Kinda reminds me it's a colorful scheme that's essentailly orange and black like the orioles or giants. Except there's a bit more color.
  25. Welcome back Y4L. so I was away for many years and I made a return back in July. But before I left, I think MarkB was the only friend here who knew what was going on with me behind the scenes. And over the years, I never forgot about MarkB. I was hoping that I'd talk to him again here when I returned. I didn't really want to go around asking people what happened to who. I was just hoping everybody would still be here. But that's not the case and something that really isn't realistic. So seeing you back Y4L is very cool to me.
