...Stirrups need to come back, Jose Cruz Jr. style. Ian Kennedy ALMOST had it, but Jose Cruz Jr. has it down to a science. ...This country has a serious self-esteem problem, especially in women. There has been a slow but substantial change in attitudes about self-esteem. We have all heard about the trend in little league sports to not keep score, not to identify winners and losers. There is a hypothesis hanging in the air that self-esteem can be built through simply trying at something. Then, we can avoid all those messy failures, and the bad feelings that go along with them. We can instead focus on encouragement, and everybody likes effort and encouragement, right? The problem is, the hypothesis is wrong. Effort and encouragement are not enough to cultivate self-esteem. Self-esteem is built through overcoming real challenges and failures. It comes from success in spite of real adversity. Societally, we moved from being a nation of a-hole fathers that simply humiliated our kids into overcoming adversity "for their own good" to a nation of nurturing mothers where nobody ever has to feel bad and everyone is special in their own way. We need something in the middle, but we haven't found it yet. ...College life is great, until I found out that I don't have money to cover my books, and that's $400 worth of books. How nice. No books, no homework = fail. ...I gotta find new friends. I take college seriously but these guys, because they have been in college a year in already, they begin to slack off, and I don't want to get involved with that. I had an 8AM class Friday and they called me up telling me that the went out and picked up a couple of chicks and they wanted to "have some fun". I tell them I have an 8AM class, and suddenly I'm a prude because I am not looking to catch some tail? Pathetic. To add insult to injury, they have girlfriends. How does that look? No wonder this generation is ruined, where's the loyalty? Pathetic. -
Dan: Do you think you can make a Linux sig like the one you designed with the Apple logo for me? It can be with Tux the penguin or the fedora cap from Red Hat, as long as it's in blue.... -KC

...it's back to school time. Man, I feel good saying that. After a year and a half not attending college, I finally managed to get everything sorted out and in tune for this week, when college starts. Everybody thinks I am rusty and I am going to struggle but I think completely the opposite. They kind of forgot that I graduated with honors, and that I was in a charter school when I was much younger. After today, a chunk of my social life will be sacrificed to achieve the 4.0 GPA I've dreamed about. I'm so happy to be where I am at this point, because many months ago I thought I would never attend because of all the problems that kept happening to me, but I didn't quit. I didn't give up because in my heart I knew I wanted to attend college so I made it possible. Here I stand, college bound, with my schedule, ID, and my book bag, and it feels good knowing that I am entering territory where many chose not to go, those that did benefited greatly from it, and I couldn't have been where I am right now if it wasn't for everybody's support, both friends and family. ...My first class is simple. English composition 101. I blog a LOT, so this should be quite a breeze. I hope. ...Vick is an idiot, and anyone who still believes he is innocent after everything that has been presented is a complete fool. ...I hate how they have commercialized the skateboard culture and pushed it into the mainstream. Now companies like Nike, who have NEVER chosen to enter the skateboard market are trying to cash in. Where were they in the last 20 years when skaters were pushing for their sport to be legalized? Where were they when skaters wanted to put on contests, or to be sponsored? I'm sure Nike and the other big name companies never pushed for a public skate park, but now that skateboarding is widely accepted, they want to cash in on it's popularity, jump in on the bandwagon and be "heroes" of sorts. Get outta here with that nonsense. ...On that topic, Skate is a great video game, but I don't like it, sole purpose being that it is an EA title and I've been playing Tony Hawk's Pro Skater for years since the days of Playstation 1. ...My friends want to "rebuild" me like the Six Million Dollar Man. They feel that I've deviated significantly from them to a point where I'm barely like them. I always felt that I was entitled to different tastes in everything, music, clothes, girls, entertainment, so what the fsck? ...So Jennifer is in Albany for college, and I did not make a move. When she is due to come back, (November or so) I will make a move. I won't ask her out, but I will ask for some clarity. Where does she see our friendship going? I feel it can be something more, it has the potential to be something past being friends, but that is up to her. If things don't work out, we'll still be cool at the end of the day, so I won't put my emotional state in her hands like a lot of guys do with women... ...For Halloween, I want a Daft Punk helmet. ...If the Yankees do not advance anywhere in the post season, Torre deserves the blame. People can say "4 WORLD SERIES, 4 WORLD SERIES" but forget that he costs us 2 WS as well. -
A brush? A BRUSH? I usually right-click on the text layer then click on Blending Options and mess with the Outer Glow section

OK here we go. ...I found it ridiculously tiring after I came home from my first date. No, it wasn't my first date EVER, but it was a first you know, actual date with someone I really like. I will explain it completely in my blog. ...Daft Punk have decided to release a LIVE CD version of their show. Too bad there is no DVD version yet. I completely missed the Keyspan show, and all I have now is just a fan version of the audio from the show with a crap load of conversation. ...I saw Superbad. It's the funniest movie I have ever seen next to Borat. Yes. I said it. It's up there with Borat. Unlike the Apatow films Knocked Up and 40 Year Old Virgin, it doesn't have the formula of "funny for first hour, next 30 minutes become sappy chick flick". It's genuinely funny throughout. ...I start college Monday, August 27th. It's going to be such a nervous day for me, as I haven't attended an educational facility in about a year and a half since I graduated, due to circumstances beyond my control. However I plan on just hitting the books HARD and sacrificing a huge chunk of my social life to get my intellect back. ...My friends are awesome even though we may hate each other's guts at times. Friendships will always have that dynamic and we all understand that at the end of the day we will still be boys. -
Cheapest? Dude this game has not been released past the 2006 season, it's a collectible by now.

...I'm back to blogging again after a couple weeks off. ...I might have a potential girlfriend but I don't want to rush things nor do I want to feel forced to make a move. We hung out last sunday for a chunk of the afternoon and evening in downtown Manhattan just shopping and chatting around. She's a great girl. I'm kind of stuck here. ...I just found out I might get a vehicle to go to college around April 2008. ...I managed to catch the Daft Punk show at Keyspan Park on thursday. It's impossible to put it into words, but before you pass away, you must see it. Nothing is better than seeing Daft Punk split their 3 albums into a billion different rhythms, synths and basslines and make completely new mixes out of them, along with a lightshow that is completely in sync to what they mix. ...I called the name of my new blog "Rebuilding Me" because I feel like I gotta start my life over, and in order to do that, I have to sacrifice the things I used to love to move forward. It's that willingness to sacrifice and a ton of other things that will only help me grow as a person. ...Total MLB is still stuck in a Beta but this week might just be the official release. I'm still working on the MiLB project though. ...My bro is staying in NYC for another week, and he'd like to stay incognito as long as he is in NYC because he says he doesn't want to meet or socialize with anyone that he has known here. My bro is no stranger to NYC, he's lived here for a chunk of his childhood. I on the other hand, plan to move out in the near future. When will that happen? I can't say, but most likely in 2010. ...Girls, Girls, Girls...I've hung out with a majority of the girls I have known within the past year, but although I am cool with all of them, at one point, prior to meeting Jennifer, one girl wanted to make me her BFF, which is an ultimate slap in the face to me, as my main objective was to be her boyfriend. I mean, I was still able to be her boyfriend if I was her BFF but that would be an ridiculously long way to go. Being in the friend zone sucks, just ask Chris -

...I finally managed to purchase a new phone to replace my aging i530. This sucker right here: with a new plan to boot. I no longer pay around the area of $70 for my phone service. With 450 anytime minutes, unlimited walkie talkie, free nights and weekends starting at 7PM, for only 39.99, with the insurance coming in at 6.99, life is good. ...Again, I am disappointed as I have still not been able to go visit this girl out in Massachusets. I'm about to give up because it's frustrating. When I am capable of going, it turns out she is working overtime. I can understand, because I put off fun time also for extra work. I tell her, it's no biggie, next week we'll hang out, grab a couple beers and see what happens from there. Hanging out with me, according to my friends is pretty fun because I'm a funny guy and my frequent poor timing with the things I say are just hilarious to them, but that's just KC being KC. She has a baby girl, about 2 years old. Her baby's father is a total douchebag, and it's people like him that ruin everything for guys like me who might want to get into a relationship with this woman, hypothetically speaking. But she failed one of the principles in becoming a good woman from the start: I can't stand seeing some girls I know, who are awesome chicks, start dating some insecure f*ck who makes up for their failings by being possessive and controlling. Before long, the crazy chick drinking friend I had is gone, and now if they ever come out for drinks without said douchebag, it won't be long before they are telling everyone their problems. That makes for a fun party atmosphere. One thing I've heard a few girls say is a long the lines of "He just got out of prison, but he's a really nice guy." or "He just got out of rehab, but he's a really nice guy." Actually thats usually the last thing they ever say to me, because I usually try to avoid contact at all costs after that. I'd like to think that its because I realized that she has issues, but it may have been more likely that I didn't want prisoner No. 1998376 thinking I was eying up his woman. In short, if you aren't happy with who you are when you're single, dating some idiot certainly won't help matters. There's a lot of principles I posted somewhere about being a good woman, but those are just my points of view, I might post it in a blog this week. ...Speaking of blogs, thanks for reading last week's entry, "What it means to be alone". I wrote it from the heart and it means a lot to me. Even though the comments weren't what I'd expect, 200+ views in one week is awesome. ...I guess I got served this week on MVPMods. My apologies for being a d*ck. Maybe I haven't learned how to STFU when needed but someday I will. I guess next time I'll let my work speak for itself. ...I don't get the idea of Igawa being the answer to Matsuzaka. He is being paid to be a 5th starter, not an ACE, or a #2 guy. A 5th starter. A 5th starter is also able to go in relief if need be. Igawa, he hasn't made up for his shortcomings but he's come through at least twice this season and delivered. Rasner broke his finger vs Boston? Igawa went the distance and struck out 7. Yankees needed an extra starter? Igawa comes through and has 6 Ks in 5IP vs the Devil Rays. It might take a while to really get accustomed to Major League pitching, and develop some consistency, but that will develop eventually. Luckily as the 5th starter it will take a while. Igawa will be a decent reliable pitcher next year, I guarantee it. What I can't guarantee is his success as a pitcher with this team next season. ...Speaking of Pitching, Joba Chamberlain. My goodness...and NO, I DON'T WANT HIM TO PITCH IN RELIEF. Bring up the stories of Santana and Liriano all you want, but Gardenhire is no Joe Torre. Torre's belief that experience is far better than talent boggles my mind. Also, Chamberlain, IMO is best utilized as a starter because he has a repertoire of pitches, where as a reliever you can get by with just two. Or if you are Mariano, just one. ...The new Yankee Stadium is shaping up to look lovely. They already set up the foundation for the escalators, as well as the outline of the press boxes. If only the workers had the work ethic of the people who designed Yankee Stadium in the beginning, my gosh, I feel that they would have been most likely finished by January 08 instead of 2009. Construction began May 5, 1922, on the current park, and Yankee Stadium opened to the public less than 11 months later. -
I am not sure if it's possible but wouldn't it make sense to remove the players that are on the DL from the roster in general and replace them with players who are currently active? i.e. Pavano, Liriano, Giambi, etc., essentially players on the DL for long stints, they can be exported as players off the roster update and when they do come back you can just reimport them through MVPEdit

That costs money, and money is something the city doesn't know how to spend wisely. It's not that hard to get into brooklyn or queens, it all depends what trains you take to get around. I live a stone's throw away from Manhattan, and in order to get downtown I take the train that has the least amount of stops on some days, and on other days the train that is least packed. The city is currently trying to build the 2nd Ave. Subway Line which will ease the congestion on the east side of Manhattan. As we all NYers should know, the East side of Manhattan is served only by 3 subway lines, the 4,5 and 6, two of them running on the same track. On top of that, what sucks even more balls is the way the subway is set up with trains coming in from Queens, where you have your express train (the E) linking to a LOCAL subway station (51st street on the 6), and your LOCAL queens train (the R) connecting to the express station in Manhattan (59th Street on the 4,5,6) It's all a clusterfcuk. I wish I ran the MTA, I would run it exactly like Boston has it, where the last subway train leaves at midnight, and the only source of public transportation would be the buses. Increased bus service at night, Increased subway service during the day = Win. -

- I want to thank the people out here who read my blogs and are willing to offer me some advice. I am always open-minded and I'm willing to learn and understand where people come from with what they say. It's one of the many ways this kid can grow. After some thinking, a solution has been reached and I feel much better about life and everything in general. - Daft Punk are gods. Gods in France, gods in house music, and gods in club scenes. I praise them a lot because I've followed them since junior high school and they've come a LONG way in terms of music and popularity. Y4L, I'm not sure if you are into house music or techno or any of those related genres, but they are probably the greatest collaborative duo ever to touch the House genre of music. I managed to catch their live show on youtube, which is not official but it is video from a news broadcast and man those guys know how to put on a show. I cannot wait for the NYC show next month to close out my summer. - No, I still haven't left to Massachusetts yet to visit this woman, but I am planning to make the most out of my trip, because I'd like to experience something new outside of my normal habitat. I just hope she doesn't like me enough to the point where she'll want to keep me around longer than what I'm planning. Don't worry, I will be sporting my Yankee jersey with pride, and I'll have a small vial of Yankee Stadium mound dirt in case anything happens with Red Sox fans I kid, I kid. - Yes, I agree, Sheffield should drink a nice glass of STFU. - My dreams of buying a vehicle to get around have not died yet, and it won't. - I have yet to find a job, but I am trying. - I'll touch on other topics in my blogs, as it helps develop my writing and people seem to love them. I won't touch on just any topic, just stuff that applies to me and my daily life. -
Jose Molina has been traded to the New York Yankees for AA pitcher Jeff Kennard, Nieves will be DFA'ed. http://newyork.yankees.mlb.com/news/articl...t=.jsp&c_id=nyy

I love the text effect on PAPELBAHHN, errr Papelbon. The Game Over with the yellow glow feels like it doesn't belong there but it's a good effort. Nice sig.

whatever man, I don't see any growth from you as an "artist" and you are supposed to be further into doing this stuff than I am. Graphic design is not exactly my interest so I don't bother making "real sigs". What exactly constitutes a "real sig" anyway? Is it in the same category as the superficial stuff in baseball like "heart", "grit", and "hustle"?

You've been called out on this method, formula, technique, steps, whatever, when you first started doing signatures, around late last year: http://www.mvpmods.com/Forums/viewtopic/p=310607.html#310607 I've noticed you developed better techniques but the premise remains the same: I even changed up my recent alex rodriguez background to emulate your style, first one is my own: to
