One main guy is needed as you said. The others on the project need to be in charge of specific items such as uniforms, portraits, audios, cyberfaces, roster, etc...As those pieces are completed, they are sent in to the central guy to compile everything. Pieces that can be done by multiple people are broken up into teams, such as portrait packs. The two main pieces that will prevent a mod like this from working is a working roster. Rosters are a lot of work, and only one guy can really be doing it. The roster maker also needs to depend on another project manager to assign ids for portraits and cyberfaces. Once all the pieces are put together, the main guy in charge compiles it as an installer for beta testing. Besides the rosters, the two other big glaring projects would be stadiums and overlay. Only a select few know how to do it properly, so a project like this completely depends on whether or not everyone actually commits to this. Planning has to start now and will go well into spring training. Year after year, we get a hand full of guys who have the desire to do it, but lack the skills needed. We also have a hand full of guys with the skills to do it, but lack the desire. On top of that, there's no one person who wants to lead on the project.

Not to be a debbie downer, but this talk has happened three years in a row, and each year shows less and less interest. It never gains enough steam to go anywhere. There simply aren't enough people interested in doing this, or there aren't enough skilled people to do it. We would have better luck doing a fantasy league.

Glad you took out the wrinkle. Looks a lot better, as it really resembles him in his later career. It amazes me how much different he looked younger. I think for him, it's all in the mouth and nose to get a resemblance. Good luck with Cone. I want to make him but all the pics suck.

I did Hornsby awhile back. the others would be a warm welcome, because I haven't found a good enough photo to do thorpe. I know what you mean by the low res photos. They can be quite the challenge. I think we used the same photo for brett. you can see my versions below too.
-
Not bad. It took me five years to make a decent Brett. As you said, there aren't many good photos of him.
-
Very nice Rios. It's all in the nostrils for him.

post a side by side so we can see. I think he just looks too burly. Maybe use a smaller head size and make his neck thinner. I'll wait for the side by side, but possibly make the chin more pointy and a smaller jaw. The resemblance is there though, just looks like he's juicing Oh and for those who were wondering about me getting oedit to work in XP Mode, here's more proof:

Slowly unfortunately I had been dealing with computer issues for months, and finally got my desktop put together so there's been little progress lately. Just assigning cyberfaces and once I do that, we will have a fully working roster available. Through this process, I've truly learned how many cyberfaces we've made for this game, which is at least two thousand from my count so far. Since we can only use 999 of them, I have work deciding which ones to include and which ones don't make the cut. I'm not liking this part much.

I don't know what JP was doing with the prospects designation then. I used it for the HOF'ers. I also noticed all of my cyberfaces in your screenshots too, so just assumed that's what happened. If you can't create a installer for those files, just zip all the files and users can use Tit to install it too. It will install all models.big and portrait.big files automatically.
-
He probably pulled them off my roster. I have them set that way because I will be using that designation for guys in the HOF.
-
Awesome! Glad you fixed him up. I was never satisfied with the one I made of him.
-
Nice work. Your technique is really getting fine tuned.
-
Loving the improvements in your work bud. keep it up. If you want a challenge, try Ian Kinsler or Austin Jackson.
-
It looks good. The only thing I see is that he has a longer face and neck. The neck is going to be tricky, but you can make his face longer. Look at his chin, and you can see what I mean. The other thing that will be tricky is to make the eyes smaller. It's those two things that give the illusion that he looks too fat.
-
Nice work! I can see the quality of your faces have improved drastically the last couple of weeks. Keep it up, as you'll get better and better with each one. I can definitely see you're really getting into the meat and bones of the modelling, which is the most difficult part.
-
keep doing them. you'll learn as yo do them, so don't rush it. it's tedious work at times, but the results will be great if you keep it up. i've changed my methods a lot since doing that video tutorial, but it at least gives you some basic ideas. I stopped using the eraser altogether, and started using layer masks instead. works better if you make a mistake. as for josh johnson, it's looking good. the textures are starting to improve. however, his face is too long. put your picture next to a real one of him, and you'll see what i mean. the bride of his nose and cheeks aren't that long.
-
I think that's your best one yet! if you square his jaw and give him a more pointy chin, it would be perfect. one thing to work on with the model is to fix the neck where it meets the jersey. as you can see, there are some pretty big holes there. some of the stock faces like torii hunter come this way, so i've had to go fix them. it's tedious work to fix them, but you can do it pretty easily. open the o file in oedit, and then open a stock one that doesn't have this problem in oedit as well. select one point and then go to View in the menu. select "Vertex Properties" and copy over all of the values for the X, Y, and Z points. if you do that for all the points that meet the jersey, it should fix it.

don't think of it as a way to deter you from making requests, as the requests are appreciated. you just need to do so once, not multiple times. he's not referring to the two posts of the same thing right in a row, as that's a technical issue. what he's referring to is constantly requesting the same guys more than once, or asking when the release is going to be. we've talked about this before, and i know it's because you get a little over zealous. it's great that you're excited by it, so don't stop being excited. just be a little more conservative on asking the same questions. but as for any releases, i will update the facepack when there are enough to do so. jogar's got a good list going, so when he releases his pack, i'll work on updating the cyberface numbers so we can have an updated pack too.
-
looking good so far! glad to see you're giving this a shot. keep practicing it. i had already done a konerko face too. try to play around with mapping and re-modelling. you'll get better with the more you do. try to pay attention to some of the small things. i particularly notice some of the eyes don't map out right. rios could use some work on his nose too.
-
i agree, which is more amazing you got him to look just like him. the head shape from the hair down to the nose is spot on. where were you looking to see if there was an id assigned?
-
wow, that donnie baseball is stellar. it might be your best one to date. pineda's good too. i had made one earlier, so now we got two if you're looking for more m's, carlos peguero could use one.
-
i'll do that when a release is made so that it will work.
